Hanako Tao is the friendship between Hanako and Hu Tao from the Toilet-bound Hanako-kun and Genshin Impact fandoms.
Canon[]
Though the two have never met, there are many similarities between the two. The most notable one is their appearance. They both wear dark clothes with black shoes. Both were a black or dark brown hat, with Hu Tao's having a wooden talisman attached to the front and Hanako’s having a golden emblem on the front. The wooden talisman and golden emblem could look alike to some people.
The two also share some personality traits. They both like pranking or teasing people and are outgoing. They also have a similar MBTI types with Hanako being ENTP and Hu Tao being ENFP. The two might also get along since Hu Tao is the director of a funeral parlor and Hanako is dead. Although, there is a chance that Hu Tao might want to bury Hanako like she wants to with Qiqi.
The two also have similarities in their names. Both of their names start with an H and end with an O. Both names have a total of six characters if you count the space in Hu Tao's name. There are three vowels in each other their names. Though, there are different amounts of consonants in their names.
Fanon[]
Shipping Hanako Tao as friends is quite common for people in both fandoms. Most say that one character in the friendship reminds them of the other character in the friendship. In fan-art, they are often seen as each other or in each others outfits. Said art also shows them meeting each other. The ship was fueled by Funimation making a tweet saying that Hanako-kun and Hu Tao were best friends probably.[1]
Hanako Tao is shipped by some as a het ship, but it is quite controversial since Hanako is in the body of an early teenager while Hu Tao is estimated to be over 18 by the fandom. A similar thing happens with the Taoling ship. The het ship is also rivaled by Hananene and YanTao. Hanako Tao is also shipped as a familyship since they're so alike and could possibly be related. Most of the people that ship Hanako Tao as a familyship see them as siblings.
