Handefty is the slash ship between Handy Smurf and Hefty Smurf from The Smurfs fandom.
Canon[]
The duo are easily considered very close friends. Their partnership includes participating in frequent hangouts, mutual support and understanding, and engaging in friendly rivalry. Said minor competitions can escalate into unnecessary squabbles and debates. Despite this, they always manage to bounce back and reconcile. The only known instance of their near breakup occurs in "Romeo and Smurfette", where a hypnotized Smurfette manipulates them into conflict. As expected, their dedication proved stronger than ill influence.
Their dynamic is generally described as Brains and Brawn; Hefty's role as the bodybuilder greatly contrasts Handy's engineering expertise. This often depicts Handy as the problem-solver to Hefty. They're both very loyal, kind, and determined Smurfs, always looking for supporting their peers and each other. This becomes evident in "Smurf the Other Cheek" when the duo supported each other through the mysterious illness infecting the village.
Cartoons (1981):[]
As stated above, they share in the cartoon, but also in the old comics, the brains and brawn relationship, leading them to argue sometimes, but they make amends in the end. Because of this, they are supportive of each other. In some episodes, such as "Hefty and the Wheelsmurfer", Handy built a chair for an injured Hefty.
In the "Smurfic Game", Hefty sacrifices his victory to save Handy, letting Clumsy win the Smurfic Game, then he adds that the most important thing was Handy being okay. Thus they both realized that their friendship was more important than victory.
Movie (2011)[]
During the fight with Gargamel, we can quickly see them standing next to each other. They are also standing next to Papa and Smurfette for the inauguration of the "Smurf of Liberty" during the credits.
The Smurfs, New Touch of Blue (2021)[]
The two seems to be close friends. Even if it's unclear if they still consider each other as best friends, they retain share some friendly moments which can prove they're still close.
In the episode "Unsmurfable Smile" from season 1, Hefty stayed with Handy all along, even if Smurfette was present. They even bet about Grouchy smiling or not.
One of the most intimate episodes is the episode "The Wrench Smurf" from season 2, when Hefty shows some support to Handy when he tried to fix Diaper Daddy. In the middle of the episode, Hefty told Handy he would make a great dad (but Handy seems upset)

Fanon[]
Handefty is a well-received and recognized ship within the fandom. Though not as popular as rivaling ships such as Heftette, the fanbase surrounding their endearing relationship remains dedicated. Fan art can easily be located on well-known social media apps, such as DeviantArt and Tumblr. Since The Smurfs were previously known as a dominantly male species, their knowledge of intimacy is often dismissed by fans, as they don't engage in same-sex relationships. The Smurfs, however, including Hefty and Handy, have displayed signs of infatuation pre-Smurfette's and others arrival.
HoYay is the term used to indicate cases of sexual/romantic interest between the same sex, though they're not in an official relationship. Relying on homoerotic subtext, fans often speculate a possible hidden sexuality in the characters. An example of many indicates Hefty may be bisexual, due to his existing attraction to Smurfette and homoerotic moments (according to the fanbase). This appeals to the LGBTQ+ community who becomes engaged in such content. The only known rivaling ships are Heftette and Brefty, the more adored ships involving Hefty.
