Hannigram is the slash ship between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter from the Hannibal fandom.

Canon

Season 1

Apéritif

Jack calls in Hannibal to work on the psychological profile of the Minnesota Shrike, and the two go to his office where he meets Will Graham. He informs Will of Freddie Lounds posting a pic of one of the girls online, which Will calls tasteless. Hannibal asks if he has trouble with taste. Will says his thoughts are rarely tasty, and Hannibal says that his aren't either. As Hannibal sits next to Will, he notices that he doesn't make eye contact. Will says that eyes are distracting, and it's hard for him to focus when he notices all the details. Hannibal starts to ask how Will's abilities effect everything else he does, and Will asks whose profile he's working on. Hannibal apologizes, saying he was merely observing and can't shut it off. Will asks him not to psychoanalyze him, and excuses himself so that he can go give a lecture.

A few days later, Will is woken up by knocking on his motel room door. He answers it to find Hannibal there. Hannibal tells him good morning and asks if he can come in. Will asks where Jack is, Hannibal saying it's just them today, and asks if he can come in again. Will lets him in, and Hannibal sets down some breakfast for him and Will. Will finds it delicious and thanks Hannibal. Hannibal calls it his pleasure and apologizes for analyzing him, but figures it will happen again. Will just asks to keep it professional, and Hannibal suggests they socialize like adults, they might even become friendly. Will says that he doesn't find Hannibal that interesting, but Hannibal says that he will. Will explains how wrong the girl in the field was, so it couldn't have been the shrike. Practically gift wrapped for him to find the real killer. Hannibal asks if he's reconstucting the killers fantasies, and what kind of problems he has. Will says he has a few, but doesn't elaborate. Hannibal asks if Will ever has problems, and Will says now. Hannibal believes that, and says that they're alike, nothing to feel horrible about. He then says that Jack probably sees Will like a tea cup, used only for special occasions, causing Will to laugh. He asks how Hannibal sees him, and Hannibal describes him as a mongoose that he wants under the house when the snake slithers by (because mongooses are known for being able to kill even the most dangerous snakes). Will looks at him quietly for a while, not sure what to think about it, until Hannibal tells him to finish his breakfast.

The two drive to a construction site. Will asks Hannibal what he's smiling about. Hannibal says that the peak behind what the FBI does. Will explains that they found metal in one of the girls clothing so their checking all the construction sites that use that kind of pipe. Hannibal asks what they're looking for, and Will says anything peculiur.

As Will looks through Garrett Jacob Hobbs file, Hannibal asks what he finds so peculiur about him. Will explains that he didn't leave an address, and missed work for days at a time.

Will and Hannibal arrives at the Hobbs residence and step out of the car. They walk to the front door as they see Hobbs push his bloody screaming wife out the front door. Will checks on her, before going in the house and killing Hobbs. He tries to save Abigail Hobbs, blood gushing from her neck, as Hannibal walks in. He watches for a second before leaning down next to Will, and taking over and applying pressure to Abigail's wound, Will watching him.

Will enters Abigail's hospital room, where he sees Hannibal sleeping in the chair next to her, holding her hand. Will sits in the chair on the other side of the bed, and watches the two sleep.

Season 2

Will tells everyone willing to listen that he's sure Hannibal murdered all the people. And at the beginning they are listening. They do all the checks but find no evidence against Hannibal while finding plenty against Will. Only few people still cares about him - mostly Alana (who felt guilty herself for allowing Jack to bring Will back to FBI), also Beverly Katz (his lab friend), Hannibal (obviously) and Frederick Chilton (who was happy to finally have Will's mind in his hospital).

Soon, Hannibal himself realizes that he is actually missing his therapeutic appointments with Will and decides that he needs to get him out of the prison. Since Hannibal keeps visiting Will, he decides to manipulate him a bit. During one visit, he starts crying in front of him and Alana, asking for help which Hannibal more than happilly offers. A minute later, locked out of everyone's eyes, Will's cry is changing into a pleased smile. Will starts recalling some lost memories and askes Chilton to bring back Dr. Gideon. He hopes that fear may make Gideon testify about the time in Hannibal's dining room. Unfortunately, Gideon decides to pretend he had never met Hannibal before.

During Will's trial, Hannibal tells the whole room that Will is and forever will be his friend, in contradiction to Will's earlier statement that they are no longer friends and the light of friendship won't ever reach them again. Things don't really look good for Will. However, as the trial ends, someone sends Will an envelope and surprise - its an ear, cutted of with the same knife as Will was supposed to use for his murders. He thinks Hannibal did it but during another visit, Hannibal says he really wants to get him out but didn't thought about sending him an ear. Instead, Hannibal killes the judge who dared to say that him talking about Will's qualities is not a good enough reason to let Will go. He also kills Beverly, because she started to believing Will too much and even broke into his home to find some evidence - that's where Hannibal found her.

With so many dead bodies around, Will starts to feel hope again. He decided to get more memories back and get rid off Hannibal so he makes an agreement with Chilton - for Hannibal being forbidden to visit him he allowes Chilton to treat his memory lose with some unortodox methods. Chilton agrees but it takes only 1 dinner invitation to speak about Will with Hannibal again.

As the time goes, Jack finds out the ear was sent by someone new, Will's own copycat, who wants to help him. Will suggests that Freddie Lounds could do an interview where Will tries to make the killer contact him. It worked better than Jack hoped and soon Will found out it's actually a guy working in the hospital who wants a murder buddy. However, instead of telling Jack, Will tries to send the guy after Hannibal - wanting to protect Alana and for being sad about Beverly and Abigail. Unfortunately for him, Gideon hears it all and warnd Jack about Will's plans. Thanks to that, Hannibal survives.

Meanwhile, a lot of found bodies makes Will believe the Ripper is gonna do a food party. Luckily enough, Hannibal is just now inviting people for one of his famous dinner parties. And so, Jack goes there, too. He says he can't stay and explicitly asks for permision to take some food home. Also Chilton is there, pretending he's just Hannibal's friend and believes none of Will's words. Of course there is no human meat in the food Jack took. As the evening ends, Hannibal kisses Alana and they start dating. So he can regularly talk about Will with her and she also provides him a good alibi when he secretly, in the middle of the night left their bed to kidnap Dr. Gideon.

Finally, Will gets out of the prison and is free. Chilton is not happy and wonders why would Hannibal be helping him. Will simply explains that it's because he wants a friend. Also warns Chilton, that he better to turn into the prison himself or Hannibal may kill him for all that happened. Obviously, Chilton doesn't do so.

Jack is immediatelly waiting for Will, because the place where was the Chesapeak Ripper preparing all his artistic crime scenes was found! After analyzing all the evidence, they found one finger print of Hannibal, however, all evidence so far suggest that the Ripper could be Chilton as well - after all, Will told him that any evidence they'll find is gonna be showing away from the real Ripper... In the end, Jack decides to go after both of them. But Hannibal is prepared, he puts dead Gideon into Chiltons basement and even kills the agents coming for him. So when Chilton wakes up in the middle of one big crimescene, he decides to run - and runs to Will.

Will knows Chilton didn't do it - still calls Jack who almost shots running Chilton in the forest. But Will still claims Chilton didn't do it and in the end makes Jack believe it, too. They decide to keep an eye on Hannibal and Will sees no better way than return for the therapy with more Hannibal-style look and tell him into his eyes that he knows and still wants him around.

Very soon they become very friendly again, even Alana and Jack are questioning it but Hannibal doesn't care. Although, he still cares about the guy Will sent to kill him so at some point he also sends a guy to kill Will. As expected, Will wins the fight - he also brings the dead body to Hannibal who then gently cleans his wounds ands asks Will to stay there with him. Will says: "Where else I'd go?" and then moves the body to artistically transform & expose it in a museum. When he and Hannibal returns to officially observe the crime scene, they can't stop enjoying themselves.

Will keeps some parts of the body though and thats what a while later Freddie Lounds finds in his barn. He has to catch her to stop her from telling it to the world and she's worried he wants to kill her. Later Jack tells Hannibal and Will that she got missing in the Wolf Trap area. Will also brings Hannibal a piece of human meat, making implikations that it's a part of her. They cook and eat it together which makes Hannibal very happy.

Their relationship is deepening and evolving, as Will himself says he would love to hate Hannibal but he can't. He even tries to kill a bad guy shortly after being released in front of Hannibal, but Hannibal knows that would cause him troubles and stops him. After that, he takes Will's head into his hand and whishpers him how happy he is for into what Will evolved. Will even once dreams about killing Hannibal while all Hannibal tells him in the dream is that he loves Will.

Later, body that is supposed to be Freddie's is found exhumed and artistically exposed at the cemetery in the response to Will's murder scene, everyone gets it that they have 2 murderers there sending love-letters to each other. However, Will still isn't sure what to do with Hannibal so he promises Jack to make him try to kill his terrible patient Mason Verger and arrest him for that. Actually, he decided to ask Verger to kill Hannibal, but then sets him free in the last minute. When the time to kill Mason comes, Hannibal asks Will to do it. Will refuses but Hannibal only breaks Mason's neck after that, which leaves him alive. Jack hopes to get Mason's testimony, but he desires his own revage and dennies everything.

Soon, it's no more secret that Jack still suspects them and so Hannibal suggests an escape for them. He also says that he would wish to give Abigail back to Will if only he could. Will agrees but says that Jack deserves to know the truth so they decide to have a dinne before leaving and kill Jack during it. At the same time Will promises to Jack to arrest Hannibal during the dinner and he probably doesn't know himself what he actually wants to do.

Unfortunately, a bit later we find outhat Freddie is still alive - she meets with Will and just a while later we see Hannibal smelling her from Will's body. He's heartbroken but decides to give Will a chance to leave with him, despite not being able to kill that much yet. He prepares dinner for them and while eating, he says Will that they could leave that night, without anyone getting injured or killed. Despite his future wishes, Will refuses.

When the day D comes, Alana calls Will to warn him that the plan is no more secret and very against the FBI rules so they are gonna be arrested soon to due to the murder Will did. Will quickly runs before they can get him and so does Jack. However, while Jack decided to go to Hannibal earlier, Will grabbed his phone and called Hannibal to warn him that they know. Before anyone else gets to the Hannibal's home, he injures Jack a lot. Then Alana shows up in the door and unexpectively found Abigail alive - Just before she pushes her out of a window. Then, finally, Will arrives. He runs in with his gun out but when he finds Abigail in the kitchen, the gun is forgotten. He doesn't say much before Hannibal puts his palm on Will's face and gives him a sad look. He says they were supposed to leave and Hannibal replies that they couldn't without him. However, a while after that he stabbs Will for wanting him dead or arrested. Hannibal says that he gave Will a rare gift but Will didn't want it - which Will dennies. They also talk about how they changed each other before Hannibal cuts Abigails throat to punish Will for his betreyal even more. We can see a single tear on Hannibal's face as he's talking to Will while outside of the house he probably cries a bit more.

Hannibal leaves his old life behind, at least so he wishes, and flies away from the US - taking Bedelia with him as he met her while washing the blood from himself in her presumably empty house.

Season 3

Hannibal and Bedelia end up in Florence, pretending to be Mr. and Mrs. Fell. They meet and meet & kill several peopl there, but as Bedelia points out, Hannibal is killing much less than he had been before. One of his victims lately is a young guy who finds out about him prettending to be Dr. Fell. A lot of people pointed out that he's a bit similar to Will. He even suggests that he's perfectly ok with what Hannibal did, would love to help him and would be happy to start a relationship with him and Bedelia. However, Hannibal is not that much interested and kills him, soon. We are also shown several scenes from the past when Hannibal was eating Dr. Gideon while Gideon several times insisted that he knows Hannibal would love to be there with Will.

Meantime, Will wakes up in a hospital. Abigail visits him and they talk about Hannibal, who totally knew how to cut them so they survived and about alternative universes where they ran away together. Will thinks about that dinner he and Hannibal planned to have with Jack. He imagines them really killing Jack and in this imagined scenario, Will is the one starting it all. He generally thinks & dreams about Hannibal a lot, for example while sitting on the floor in his kitchen...

He starts repairing his boat not too long after being released from the hospital. And soon, Jack appears at his door. He is very curious why did Will warn Hannibal instead of letting Jack surprise him back then. Will is not sure, the only thing he knows is that he simply wanted to call Hannibal and once he heard his voice he couldn't do otherwise. Because Hannibal was his friend. And Will wanted to run away with him, as he tells Jack.

When the boat is a-ok, Will sails from the US to EU and has all the time to think about Hannibal on his NOLA ship. (It may or may not be a coincidence that Nola is also name of the city where the ancient warrior Hannibal was finally defeated.) He ends up in Palermo, where Hannibal's favorite chapel is. Will knows that because Hannibal told him so in S2. And indeed, it's the right place where to look for him. It's around the Valentine's day and a human body shaped into a big anatomical heart was found in the middle of chapel. It's actually the guy who Hannibal met before and who blindly tried to seduce him. Will and Abigail go there to look around and talk about Hannibal's broken heart and Will's desire to still be with him. Will somehow knows Hannibal is probably nearer than he seems to be. Actually, he is watching Will. While thinking about what happened when they met for the last time, Will finally fully accepts that Abigail actually is not there with him. She is dead, only he was allowed to survive.

A while later, Will with surprisingly dark attitude walks into catacombs and Hannibal follows, although he never reveals himself. After Will scares away inspector Pazzi, he talks to unseen Hannibal and says he forgives him. When Hannibal returns to Bedelia, they talk about Will and forgiveness a lot. Two times Hannibal says he loves Will. Then, thanks to Bedelia he comes to the conclusion that he needs to eat Will to really achieve forgiveness (as he did with his sister, which Bedelia masterfully used as her manipulation tool for being too scared that Hannibal's feelings for Will mean danger for her).

At the same time, Will arrives in Lithuania, where he observes Hannibal's born place - the Lecter castle. Turns out Hannibal's old sister-like friend Chyioh still lives there, keeping an eye on her prisoner who killed Mischa. She calls Will and Hannibal nakama (which means very close friends) and to let her know how close they are, Will shows her the scar on his belly - calling it Hannibal's smile. Then, she sends Will away but Will returns nonethless and makes her kill the prisoner and turns the body into a magnificent wine-firefly tableau. Chyioh then agrees to show him where Hannibal is. As they go, she they talk. She explains to Will that there are absolutely different ways to have an influence on each other than only violence but it seems that violence is the only one Will understands. After that, she fake-kiss Will to demonstrate the non-violent influence possibilities and then throws him out of their train.

But Will is not injured too much and still knows where they were going. So he continues in that direction. He finds Hannibal in Florence - sitting in front of the Primavera painting in the Uffizi gallery. They can't help themselves and exchange some wide smiles as well as long talk about acceptance, blurring, and their same stars. Still, when they are leaving, Will tries to pull out a knife and stab Hannibal. However, that can never happen because Chyioh is already waiting on a nearby roof and shoots him in a shoulder. Hannibal quickly picks Will with the knife up and carries him to a prepared apartment. After taking care of his injury, changing his clothes (we learned later that the new shirt was actually monogramed WG) and hugging him in between, Hannibal ties Will to a chair. He's feeding Will some not really tastefull soup (he sais it's for the meat tasting better), making sure it's not too hot before putting it into Will's mouth. Jack, who followed Will to Florence is eventually tied to the opposite chair, too. Hannibal proceeds to start opening Will's head so he can eat his brain as he decided some time ago. Fortunately for them both, before he can finish the 1st task, some people paid by Mason Verger burst in and take Hannibal with Will back to the US.

There, everything is fine again. Mason arranges a a dinner for them three, Will bites off a piece of his caretaker's cheek and Hannibal is very proud. Mason is much less happy. He lets them know that he wants to have Will's face instead of his own destroyed one and eat Hannibal with it. Before that, he wants Hannibal to suffer as one of his pigs. However, Alana (who meanwhile became a girlfriend of Mason's sister Margot, see Marlana) still cares about Will while Margot wants brother's dead. That's why they together help Hannibal to free himself in exchange to him saving Will and helping them with Mason.

Injured Hannibal carries Will bridal-style back to his old home in Wolf Trap through the dark snowy night. When Will wakes up, it's morning outside. He is in his bed, in clean clothes, Hannibal just sitting down by his side. But Will is not in a good mood, he tells Hannibal to go away and never return - that he won't miss him or look for him. Hannibal leaves the house. Later at night of the same day, Jack Crawford and others arrive. Will tells them Hannibal is gone. However, soon Hannibal appears and allows them to take him. He says - looking at Will - that he wants him to always know where to find him.

Hannibal is in the prison about 3 years. During that time he writes some letters to Bedelia and Will as well as some articles to numerous magazines. Will, on the other hand, found himself a wife with a son and moved away from Wolf Trap as well as the FBI jobs. He has his dogs, too, but somehow lost his interest in fishing with this new family...

But then, another big serial killer targeting families appears and Jack decides Will is needed. After they talk about it, will wakes up in the middle of the night and leaves his wife alone in the bad - only to pull out a letter from Hannibal he had hidden in his underwear drawer. Hannibal knew Jack will come for him and he wrote will not to come back. Will reads it by lighting fireplace, then throws it into the flames. As the story continues, we learn that the killer is no one else but Francis Dolarhyde - The Great Red Dragon.

And of course Will does return to the investigation and of course he needs Hannibal to help him. Between the things he tells him, Will claims that all the whole "Hannibal, run away forever" incident that happened 3 years ago was his great plan how to make Hannibal turn himself in. Other things they discuss about their relationship include Hannibal's words like: "I gave you a child" and "You are family" toward Will. When Will doesn't speak with Hanibal, he also talks with Bedelia about Hannibal. At one point he asks her whether Hannibal is still in love with him. And she said yes - as well as she compared them both to Hannibal's wives, implying that Will is unfortunately the more important one. She also asked him back whether he desires for Hannibal - however, Will could not answer that aloud.

Hannibal, of course, could immediatelly smell the new people in Will's life. He didn't immediatelly show how unhappy he is with that - however, he sends the Dragon after Will's new family while being sure Will himself is currently not with them. Lucky for thm, they both survive, however Molly, Will's wife, ends up in a hospital after being shot into her back. When Will finds out, he's, of course, angry and goes to yell at Hannibal. However, arguably he could yell a bit more in such a situation... He as well visits Molly in the hospital and tells her and her son how very sorry he is and that he's going after the guy who did it. However, arguably, we could say his contact with his brave wife could be a bit more husband-like as he didn't touch her at all.

Eventually, Will tells Jack he needs to fake Hannibals escape to catch the Dragon. Jack agrees and besides official plan makes a secret planning with Will - that neither the killer or Hannibal will survive this. Will also makes one more plan with the killer himself - which as well includes killing Hannibal. Before they do anything, he yet once again visits Bedelia to give her an evil grin and warn her (by warn I mean scare) that "Meat is back on the menu." As we can already know from their previous sessions, he is really not happy that she managed to spend nice times with Hannibal in Florence and feel no bad consequences after.

The fake escape turns out to be a real one when the Dragon murders everyone but Will and Hannibal. The two of them go to Hannibal's secret house about which the Dragon somehow knows. When night falls, he shoots Hannibal through a large window and warns Will that he should not try to run away. Will doesn't want to do such a thing, he says he is gonna watch him killing Hannibal. Instead, he pulls out his gun, the killer notices it in time and stabs Will. The great final fight begins. Will gets stabbed one more time before he and Hannibal kill the other man together. Blood is everywhere and Will is overwhelmed. He smuggles into Hannibal's arms, embracing him on a cliff edge. Hannibal says it's all he ever wanted for him, for them both. And Will thinks it's beautiful. Then, he pulls himself and Hannibal down the cliff.

In the post-credits scene we can see Bedelia sitting in her home office (behind the table we know from Hannibal's dining room, however, that was clasified as an acidental thing). She's missing one leg and the leg is beaulifully prepared and served on the table. Bedelia is visibly scared, prepared to fight, waiting for at least 2 more people as there are other 2 empty chairs and 3 empty plates on the table. Bryan Fuller later confirmed that Hannibal did it and that they both survived the finale.

Fanon

Fans shipped the two as early as the first episode. Although people shipped it, many believed it would never be canon since the TV Series is based on a completed book series, and the two do not end up together. But as the series went on, it became clear that the series, while adapting the novels, would not follow them entirely. This gave shippers hope for their ship, which eventually really became canon.

A popular fanon about the season 2 finale is that when Hannibal is leaving his home (with bleeding Will) behind, he grabs the coat which Will had given to injured Alana a while ago, and takes it to Florence with him.

Many fans believe that Hannibal and Will ran away and are now situated somewhere in Cuba after the season 3 finale. This was due to season 4 episodes originally were going to be named after Cuban dishes, in the same way, that season 3 named the episodes after Italian one's.
