HarleyWhite is the slash ship between Harley Sawyer and Bruno White from the Poppy Playtime fandom.
Canon[]
Harley and Bruno began neutral, with considerable respect for White on Harley's part, considering White was his right-hand man. As time progressed, however, they've turned into petty enemies, but it's inquired White had been talking "childishly" behind Harley's back. It's unclear as to where their relationship initially mutually turned out to be, as information on them both is very limited besides Harley's actions and evil streaks that resulted in his disembodiment. The two's rivalry were very trivial, and they often squabbled over childish things such as catchphrases, pickles, and computer passwords. Bruno even changed the password to "bruno.white" to specifically poke at Harley. Bruno perfectly plays out Bitch in Sheep's Clothing and uses this against his former boss.
This includes allegedly Mind Raping Dr. Sawyer through the use of somehow obtaining his expulsion letter from the Young Geniuses Program. Said letter can be discovered within the secondary laboratory. Harley appears to be acknowledging this, as he mumbles anxiously to himself about how "they can see".
Bruno's hatred may be justified for Harley's consistent mistakes and infamous status that earned him hate from the entirety of the company. Harley is also considerably childish underneath his stoic and polite facade. This is likely what fueled him and Bruno's rough partnership, including the fact he yells at and disregards his subordinates. When Bruno died in the Hour of Joy, Harley sheds no tears. Further justified for what Bruno and others had done to him.
Once Harley's slip-ups have become too frequent, Leith, Bruno, and fellow scientists worked together to dismember Harley into parts. Said parts will be utilized and shoved into AI. This is how they kept Harley alive without necessarily killing him, since they still need his genius. This resulted in Harley's villainous breakdown from the beginning of his transformation. This resulted in Bruno replacing Harley's former position.
Bruno sounded surprisingly soft and supportive to Harley in the tapes featuring Harley's brain transmission. It doesn't take a while to figure that it's yet another one of Bruno's false acting in the presence of Leith Pierre.
The two have a lot in common despite their disputes. They simultaneously hold zero care for children, particularly the orphans within Playtime Co. They input friendly and gentle facades to the orphans in order to persuade them into becoming giant toy abominations for their experiments. They follow the Faux Affably Evil villain trope for their gentle coys. They both got their Karmic Death towards the shutdown of Playtime Co, with Bruno perishing in the Hour of Joy and the player deactivating Harley's organs.
Characters with significance to the storyline typically have colored names in their subtitles (if turned on). Dr. White has one in accordance with Leith and Harley, indicating he'll have or has a vital role in the game itself. This opens opportunity for more disclosure on him and his relationship with Sawyer.
Fanon[]
The two have recently become popular, though not as acknowledged as HarleyPierre. Fans adore the villainous personalities of the two combining into an Unholy Matrimony. Enemies to Lovers is a common subplot and used frequently in shipping. Some fans began shipping them after listening to the tapes, reading notes, and discovering ARGS, debunking more and more of Bruno and Harley's antagonistic interrelation. Though the boss x employee plots have their fair share of negative criticism, it's still very often used and prominent in romantic media, whether in shows, movies, or fan content. The ship is proudly acknowledged as a rarepair in both AO3 with 20+ romantic works and TikTok.
