Renee is investigating a crime scene when there's an explosion outside. She rushes out to see that Ace Chemicals has been completely destroyed. A cop gives her a necklace they found out the scene, Renee sees that its Harley's "J" necklace. She tells the other detective that Harley and Joker broke up and blowing up their spot was letting everyone know it. Which in turn means that she called open season on herself. Renee adding on that Harley clearly didn't think things through.
Harley is walking down the street ready to enjoy her egg sandwich, when Renee pulls up. She tells Harley to freeze, but she quickly runs. Renee, annoyed, immediately starts following, Harley having to dodge other pursuers and avoid her at the same time. She thinks she gets away, but Renee tackles her to the ground, causing her to lose her sandwich. Renee holds her gun at Harley, and Harley is able to get away with some dumb luck.

Harley x Renee is a rarepair in the DC fandom, as well as the other fandoms. Despite the two being introduced in the DCAU within Batman: The Animated series, shipping the two wasn't very prominent. As the two didn't have many significant interactions aside from Renee being a cop and Harley being with the Joker. Which led to the two technically being enemies by association. Their comic interactions were also rare, as they didn't have major interactions till the early 2020's. When the two were both in the Birds of Prey film, the ship gained some momentum. With fans having a more firm grasp on their dynamic and potential chemistry. The two were also the confirmed to be queer in the film, making some want to ship them for that reason alone. Its main rival ships include HelenaRenee and Dinaharley.
On AO3, Harley x Renee is the tenth most written ship for Renee. There are currently 8 written works.
