Haru and Shion are colleagues at their workplace. Haru joined first, with Shion joining two months after. As a result of Haru joining before him, Shion refers to Haru as "Senpai." The two became friends for a while. However, as Shion performed a lot better at his job than Haru did, Haru began to feel inferior and envious, and started to distance himself from Shion. They finally talk again at the start of the game when they both end up on Saihate Station, and have to find a way back home.
Both are inherently extremely flawed, and become completely codependent on each other (with Shion craving Haru's attention, and Haru craving for someone to care about him.)
In one of the conversations the two can have in the bar carriage, the duo converse about spring. Haru tells Shion that he dislikes it, to which Shion brings up the fact that "Haru," means spring. The conversation ends with Shion saying "I love spring in all of its forms." referring to Haru when he says this.
END Z: Together Forever[]
END Z is considered the "good ending" for the duo, with the two reconciling their friendship and ending up enjoying each other's company, vowing to stay "together, forever." Neither of the two die in this ending. This ending is a result Haru bonding with Shion more: eating pie and wine together, talking in front of the broken mirror, and through Haru conversing with Shion multiple times post-fainting. Events and dialogue choices after this ending is confirmed are altered from Haru being weary of Shion, to Haru being more trusting and caring of him. They are shown to work together more in this ending, with dialogue that once stated a character performed an action alone, to the dialogue changing to say that the two worked together to complete the task.

The Train Can't Escape Without XXX!?[]
An 18+ spin-off of the main game. This version teases a "bang or die" approach towards the concept of the game, with visuals and dialogue implying that Haru and Shion must participate in a sexual act in order to escape the train. However, the bulk of the game is sexual innuendos between the duo. Bits of dialogue leading to the ending imply that the duo may be doing something naughty, with the lack of visuals leading the player to interpret it as such, with a CG later revealing what is truly happening. In one ending, Haru can pin Shion to the seats.
Moments[]
END Z: Together Forever[]
- While looking for a place to hide Aoi's body, Haru can try to enter the carriage with the paid seats. Shion asks where Haru is going, and Haru apologizes, and tells Shion that he is not going anywhere.
- While looking for a place to hide Aoi's body, Haru can try to press the SOS button, to which Shion tells Haru that there is no reason to press that as they plan to run away together. Haru thinks to himself that Shion is right, and that they will "run away together, forever."
- After putting Aoi into the barrel bag, Haru tells Shion that he is all he has left.

Fanon[]
Fans enjoy the toxic and codependent dynamic the duo share. As Saihate Station is still gaining popularity, the fanbase has been pretty quiet (at least on the Western side.) However, due to the game finally being translated into multiple languages, more and more people are beginning to ship the two. Some people, however, dislike romantically shipping the duo, as they acknowledge the ethics of shipping them and how unhealthy it is. Others dislike how Shion was able to get his way, and that Haru folded too easily when it came to trusting Shion, and therefore disliking the writing for them in general. Currently, the duo only has one work up on AO3.

Trivia[]
- Their ship name, "HaruShion" consists of their respective given names, "ハル" (Haru) and "シオン" (Shion), making "ハルシオン," which is identical to the word "ハルジオン" (fleabane); an important flower utilized within the game.
- The creator, viv, also commonly utilizes the HaruShion ship name.
- An emoji in the official Saihate Station fanserver is named ":d_harushion:".
- While HaruShion could be considered a "yandere" and "senpai" ship as Shion could be thought of as a "yandere," the creator does not consider him to be one, opting to just label him as being mentally ill. However, the creator tends to label him a yandere as a more convenient way to describe him.
