Harutara is the het ship between Haru and Katara from the Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom.
Canon[]
Katara first saw Haru while he was practicing his earthbending in the woods. He ran away as soon as Katara approached him, so she followed him back to his village. She told him that she had seen him earthbending in front of his mother and learned that he would be arrested if caught and that this had happened to his father. Katara later talked to Haru and sympathized with him for losing her mother to the Fire Nation. Haru explained to Katara that he liked earthbending because it reminded him of his father.
Later, Katara and Haru came across a man trapped in a mine, so Katara encouraged him to earthbend and save him. Unfortunately, Haru was arrested that night. Katara was upset when she found out and was determined to save him. She intentionally got herself arrested so she could go find Haru. They were reunited on a prison rig, and Haru introduced Katara to his father, Tyro. Katara had trouble getting the earthbenders to rebel against the Fire Nation, but Haru eventually stood up with her. After the earthbenders won, Haru thanked Katara and invited her to join him in reclaiming his village, but Katara had to go to the North Pole with Aang.
Several months later, Haru joined the forces of the Fire Nation invasion. He and Katara were reunited at the Black Cliffs where the forces met before heading to the capital. They hugged, and Katara told Haru that she was very happy to see him. They joined the invasion, but it failed, so they fled on Appa with the other children and teenagers. They both sought refuge in the Western Air Temple, but were forced to separate when Azula attacked. Haru and Katara were both later present at Zuko's coronation as Fire Lord.

Fanon[]
Harutara has a small amount of popularity in the Avatar fandom. It is not nearly as popular as Kataang, Zutara or even Jetara. Still, it has a small following and is considered one of the four main Katara ships. Many fans speculated that there was a possible romance between the two, or at least that Haru had a crush on Katara. However, Katara ended up with Aang at the end of the series. Still, some fans love Harutara and insist that it could have worked out. Harutara does not have a large amount of fanon, but some fanworks are still out there.
