HauntedLight is the femslash ship between Brightney and Connie from the Dandy's World fandom.
Canon[]
Brightney and Connie are two playable characters in Dandy’s World. Their interactions come from being in the elevator.
Connie is a non-event regular Toon resembling a ghost whose ability includes being able to go invisible for 5 seconds. This makes non-lethal Twisteds unable to see her during those seconds, and the cooldown is 50 seconds. Brightney is a non-event regular Toon resembling a lamp with the ability to show the locations of all Twisteds (except Twisted Rodger in his capsule form) on a floor for 8 seconds. The cooldown for her ability is 45 seconds, and Brightney can only use it during blackouts.
Other than that, the two are also light-producing Toons. They both slightly glow more than the others when in a blackout. Connie is seen as a charismatic and mischievous Toon who likes to tease others as well as causing trouble, while Brightney is seen as helpful, intelligent, and a bit overworked.
In their first interaction, Connie is first to greet her with Brightney greeting her back. Connie then doesn't answer, as if she wants to tell Brightney something perhaps. Brightney then waits for an answer, with Connie just saying hi again. Brightney replies by telling her hi again. In their second interaction, Brightney tells Connie that she has been helping others greatly. Connie replies by saying that she is good at it, to which Brightney tells her to keep it up. Connie affirms her by telling her that she will.
The two are also mentioned in their other dialogues with other Toons. In Connie’s interaction with Vee, she wonders if she is able to haunt her screen. Vee tells her not to. Connie then teases Vee by saying that she just might do it. Vee replies by saying that she'll tell Brightney if she does so, making Connie become a little bit flustered and embarrassed, promptly telling Vee she had changed her mind.
In Brightney’s interaction with Gigi, Gigi tells Brightney that one of her friends wants to hang out with her. Brightney, curious, then wonders why the "friend" can’t tell her personally. Gigi states that this friend she mentioned thinks she’s too cool and is too nervous about what Brightney will think of her. Brightney then asks who Gigi’s "friend" is, with Gigi exclaiming that she may have spoken a little too much. It is unknown who Gigi was referring to but it is heavily implied that it's Connie because they are very good friends.

The ship has a decent amount of popularity. It gained popularity when the dialogues came out for the two of them, which have became the staple for the ship. This is because most people think there is more to their interactions, as well as to what Connie thinks of Brightney. In one of Gigi's and Brightney's dialogues, Gigi tells Brightney about her friend that wants to see her. Although it’s not confirmed who the friend is, most people think that it is Connie that Gigi was referring to because the two seem to be close friends.
Since this dialogue, fans think that Connie has a crush on Brightney because she seems a bit nervous and embarrassed to tell Brightney that she wants to hang out with her. She also choses not to haunt Vees screen after she is told that Brightney will know of her endeavours, which might be interpeted by fans of her nervousness because of her crush at Brightney. This has spawned fanworks of Connie being nervous around Brightney with the latter confused of her nervousness for her. Since most people think Connie acts like she has a crush on Brightney, this has become one of the main reasons as to why the two are shipped.
People also ship it because Connie is usually outgoing and mischievous but when she’s around Brightney, she’s more nervous and the tiniest bit flustered. The two also are a ghost and a lamp, which would usually mean that Brightney would scare off Connie as she produces light and ghosts are shown to be afraid of it in most media. Fanart sometimes like to show Connie avoiding Brightney because of her light.
This ship is more or less rivals with GhostCapsule and Brightvision. HauntedLight has a decent amount of popularity so it's not in the rarepair territory. The ship currently has only 3 works on AO3.
