Heartslabyul Squad is the friend ship between Riddle Rosehearts, Ace Trappola, Deuce Spade, Trey Clover and Cater Diamond from the Twisted Wonderland fandom.
Canon[]
The first chapter of the main story focuses on the Heartslabyul dormitory and it's five main students. After meeting the dorm's two newest Freeman students, Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade, in the prologue chapter. While chapter one has Trey Clover and Cater Diamond helping Ace and Deuce to better understand their dorm leader, Riddle Rosehearts. Who took over as Houseware after the dorm's previous leader didn't hold up the Queen of Hearts's rules. Trey and Cater try to memorize those rules like Riddle has, but with there being so many of them and both Ace and Deuce are still learning them themselves, they struggle to stay on Riddle's good side. Whenever Riddle is in one of his moods and the other students are struggling under his rule, Trey and Cater take it upon themselves to smooth things over, even if they don't agree with Riddle and the rules he upholds.
Trey is one of Riddle's childhood friends and was the first one of the two friends to attend Night Raven college, before Riddle joins him a year later. During Trey's first year he meets and befriends Cater, and when Riddle became the new dorm head within his second week at the school, Trey helps Cater to gain an understanding of him. Knowing that Riddle means well and simply wishes to make their dorm great again. Trey and Cater serving as Ace and Deuces' mentors explain this to them, the day after Riddle collars Ace for eating a tart that was meant for the unbirthday party. Riddle did consider removing the collar that is blocking Ace's magic, but after he over hears Ace mad mouth him, for being very strike with the rules that were set by the Queen of Hearts herself, he leaves it on him. Seeing how much Ace wants to be rid of the collar, Deuce and Trey offer to help him bake a tart to serve as an apology. Cater also has Ace and Deuce help him with other persuasions for the party, like painting the roses red. Both tasks set by Trey and Cater allow Ace to do them, without the ned for magic, while Deuce is still struggling to use his magic without messing up. This gets Ace and Deuce to compete against one another, as they complete those tasks. When Trey isn't helping Ace and Deuce make the tart that Trey knows to be Riddle's favourite flavour of tarts, Cater comments on how he sees the two freshmen becoming best friends. Even though Ace and Deuce first got off on the wrong foot, after Deuce dropped a cauldron on him and started to cause fights between one another. Until the MC, Yuu got them to work together when it mattered and although there is still rivalry between them, it is a friendly one as they come friends.
The night before the party, however, Riddle was in one of his moods and both Trey and Cater got to work on calming him down. So today's events would go smoothly, and followed the Queen's rules to make that happen. When Ace presented the chestnut tart to Riddle on the day of the party, thinking that everything will go as planned and the collar around his neck will be removed, the rules that Riddles upholds got him to reject the tart. With chestnut tarts not allowed at an unbirthday, a detail that Trey and Cater didn't foresee when they were helping Ace and Deuce. Angry that Riddle wants to destroy the tart they worked on and was getting tired of the rules, Ace could no longer take them. Deuce agrees that rules need to be followed, but the way Riddle was doing things was wrong, and gets collared by Riddle as well when siding with Ace. Both Ace and Deuce were upset that Trey and Cater threw the two of them out of the party and dorm, on Riddle's orders, even though the two third years weren't happy about it either they wanted to stay on Riddle's good side. While Ace and Deuce were still fuming on what happened, a childhood friend of Riddle and Trey, Che'nya, gives them the advice to ask Trey about Riddle, so the two can gain a better understand of their dorm's young Housewarden. Because they couldn't return to the dorm, Ace and Deuce confront Trey in the library knowing he'll be returning the book they used to make the tart. Although Trey didn't appreciate the ambush from them, he explains that the way Riddle is was due to how his parents raised him, starting his studies at a young age so he would be accomplish like they are and that his studies involved their own strike set of rules. Deuce felt sorry for what Riddle had to go through, but Ace didn't think it was an excuse and blames Trey to allowing things to continue this way, instead of doing something about it. Trey has noticed Riddle's suffering, but he wasn't sure on what he could do and was taken back by Ace's words. Ace might be sick of how Riddle is running the dorm, he doesn't want to transfer to another dorm as that would make it feel like running away, so headmaster Dire Crowley subjects that Ace and Deuce challenge Riddle for the role of dorm head like he had done. Trey was against this and was worried of how things would turn out, as he later shares his concern with Cater.
Riddle removes the collars from Ace and Deuce so they can have a fair magic duel, but with the Queen's rules requiring Riddle take his tea at a certain time, as Cater brings it up, Riddle wraps the duel up by recollaring the two. Feeling that they had a shot of beating Riddle Ace was upset by this and tries to get the dorm's other students to speak up against Riddle's tyranny, but everyone was too scared of Riddle and both Trey and Cater try to smooth things over. From seeing how upset Riddle is by Ace calling him a baby and when an unknown student throws an egg at him. As Deuce had before, he agrees that rules need to be followed but he thinks that Riddle should easy up on them. Rather than making them all feel the misery that Riddle's parents forced upon him. Riddle using a large amount of magic in his angry state of mind leads to him overbloting, and if he doesn't clam down soon his life could be placed in danger. Wanting to save his friend and to make amends for not helping Riddle with his hidden pain, he uses his magic to cancel out Riddle's. That why, he, Ace, Deuce and Cater can battle overblot Riddle, without the worry of having their magic blocked by Riddle's collars.
After Riddle regained his senses from the overblot, he confesses that he did want to eat the tart they made and was also unhappy living by the dorm's rules. Now that everything was being honest, Trey apologies for not helping Riddle with his suffering and finally tells him that he doesn't agree with how Riddle forced the rules on everyone. A conversation that they should have had a long time ago. Deuce and Cater were happy that Riddle was opening up and admitting that he has been wrong, but Ace was still pretty upset of what Riddle put them all through. So Ace subjects that they host another unbirthday party and this time Riddle with bake the tart, with no help at all, only then will Ace expect an apology from Riddle. Trey then takes Riddle to the nurse, to ensure that Riddle isn't still suffering from his overblot.
On the day of the party as they eat the tart Riddle makes, they notice that it tasted very salty from the baby oyster sauce, that Trey jokes about being a requirement ingredient. Despite how the tart turned out, the five enjoyed the laugh they had of Riddle being the only one to fall for Trey's joke. Trey was also happy to see how Riddle has changed, as he begins to easy up on some of the rules. With honesty now being out in the open, Trey admits to Cater that he knows why Cater goes to paint the roses whenever he is caking. Suspecting that he doesn't like sweet food and offers to make Cater tofu in the future. Ace and Deuce have also began to adjust to the ways of their dorm and that everything has manged to work out in the end.

The Heartslabyul Squad is one of the seven dorm groups of the Twisted Wonderland fandom. It is also the largest dorm group in the game, with five of the seven dorm groups mostly being duos or trios, part from the Diasomnia Quartet. With them and their dorm based upon Alice in Wonderland characters, it has draw the attention of a few AiW fans and sometimes has them feature the five in other versions of Lewis Carrol's novel; that the 1951 film is based on. On AO3, the group ship only has 35+ gen fanfics.
With Riddle's character modelled after the Queen of Hearts, much like their dorm is, it has got people to view the four other main Heartslabyuls as his Card Guards. With their names and the marks on their faces referencing plain cards, and the fact they are based upon those exact cards. From time to time, fans like to feature Che'nya in their fanworks of the Heartslabyul Squad. Due to the fact that he too is based upon an Alice in Wonderland character, and with him being a childhood friend of Riddle and Trey. It has fans wanting Ace, Deuce and Cater to be friends with Che'nya as well.
