Hephrodite is the het ship between Hephaestus and Aphrodite from Greek Mythology.
Canon[]
Aphrodite was a goddess who emerged from the sea and immediately caused discord among the male Olympians when she arrived on Mount Olympus, many of them wanted her as their wife since she was deemed the most beautiful of them all. Recently, Hephaestus held his mother Hera hostage to pressure her and Zeus into giving him what he wanted, one of his demands was for them to arrange a marriage for him. Zeus, who had been trying to keep the peace between the Olympians, had the idea of marrying Aphrodite off to Hephaestus to solve two problems at once. Hephaestus was reportedly surprised that they would give someone as beautiful as Aphrodite to him, he would've been happy with any other goddess, but Aphrodite swore that she would be a faithful wife to him through gritted teeth. In truth, Aphrodite's heart had already belonged to Ares, the handsome war god, whom Aphrodite greatly preferred over the reportedly deformed Hephaestus. So when Hephaestus was distracted by working in his forge once, Aphrodite invited Ares into her marriage bed to spend the night. Aphrodite felt no guilt for cheating on Hephaestus and it went well for her, but then she lost track of time and the sun god Helios caught her in passionate embrace with Ares, without Aphrodite noticing Helios watching them. Helios, who took pity on Hephaestus, reported what he saw to him, Hephaestus was furious that Aphrodite would betray his trust like that. So he worked on a net that was so thin that it was invisible to the naked eye, but also strong enough to render its prey completely unmovable when caught. He placed the net on his bed and then waited for Aphrodite and Ares to assume that they're in the clear, then he pulled a string of the net and caught Aphrodite and Ares while they were passionately holding one another. To further humiliate them, he presented the two lovers to the rest of the pantheon, with the goddesses shaming Aphrodite and the gods having a laugh at Ares' expense. Hephaestus kept them trapped there for at least three days before choosing to release them, by that point, pretty much everyone agreed that they're marriage was annulled, with both of them happy to move on to new relationships.
Hercules (1997)[]
In the Disney movie, Hephaestus and Aphrodite are engaged and often show up as background characters on Olympus. However, Aphrodite's infidelities are referenced when Hephaestus angrily glares at anyone who comes too close to his fiancée.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians[]
This continuity follows their divorce, Hephaestus is still not over Aphrodite cheating on him and had laid traps for her and Ares all the way to the modern day. Percy and Annabeth end up trapped in one of them in The Lightning Thief when trying to retrieve Ares' shield, they also happen to find Aphrodite's scarf near it, implying that they were indeed making love at the place where Hephaestus laid his trap later.
In The Titan's Curse, Aphrodite briefly interrupts Percy while he and his party were at the Junkyard of the Gods, telling him not to go near her "husband's" toys, claiming Hephaestus does not like anyone touching them. She is proven correct when Bianca accidentally causes Talos to activate when picking up a souvenir for her little brother in the junkyard.

Fanon[]
Within fandoms featuring the Greek gods, shipping Aphrodite with Hephaestus is popular though controversial. Many focus on the "ugly" god getting married to the most beautiful goddess, but adaptations sometimes ignore that their relationship ended sour.
Hephaestus is nonetheless often depicted as still pining after Aphrodite, often ignoring that he had a second marriage with Aglaea/Charis and also was stated to have been in a relationship with Aetna.
