Higumizu is the het ship between Hiromi Higuruma and Shimizu from the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom.

Canon

Shimizu is depicted working under Higuruma as an assistant public defender. The narrative does not delve into the origins of their acquaintance or the specifics of their initial meeting, their interactions being limited to friendly professional boundaries. Following the developments in the Culling Game and Shinjuku Showdown story arcs, it seems that Higuruma is set to abandon his legal career in favor of embracing a new path as a sorcerer. This transition suggests a shift in their professional dynamic, potentially redefining Higuruma's role in Shimizu's life from a current employer to a former one.

Culling Game Arc

Higuruma, upon meeting his new client Keita Oe, learns of the young man's arrest on charges of double homicide and theft. Oe had evaded police questioning prior to his arrest, fearing for his cat's life as pets were prohibited in his residence. The discovery of the murder weapon in his apartment led Oe to confess to Higuruma that he had indeed found and taken the weapon.

Shimizu, upon learning of the case, struggles to accept Oe's innocence, questioning Higuruma if Oe's flight from the police was an admission of guilt. Higuruma refutes this, revealing that Oe had been previously interrogated illegally by the police due to a drug-using acquaintance. Shimizu, enlightened by Higuruma's rationale, recognizes Oe's flight as a potential response to past trauma. Yet, she remains perplexed by Oe's decision to handle a bloodied knife, to which Higuruma conveys Oe's intention to turn it over to the authorities later. Shimizu's confusion persists, and Higuruma concurs that Oe's actions are indeed puzzling.

Higuruma then raised the point that Oe's situation warranted consideration. Oe had been employed in a live-in position at a nonprofit organization, which didn’t make his account implausible. Shimizu inquired about the nature of the nonprofit, to which Higuruma replied that it primarily operated a shelter and facilitated independent living for seniors without any other refuge. Oe's role was to care for these individuals. Rather than a salary, Oe was compensated with pocket money at New Year’s, boxed lunches, and groceries. Despite this, Oe was obliged to pay a monthly rent of 50,000 yen. Shimizu found this arrangement exploitative.

Furthermore, Higuruma disclosed that many of the residents have a record, which contributed to Oe's hesitation to surrender the weapon. Oe had explained that the facility's policy prohibited contacting law enforcement or medical services to avoid disturbing the neighbors, which Shimizu deemed dubious. Higuruma agreed, noting the increase in questionable nonprofits following the influx of earthquake-relief funds into the Tōhoku region. This context made the discovery of a weapon less startling and why there is a good possibility that Oe is innocent.

Higuruma instructs Shimizu to delve into the nonprofit organization's dealings and fiscal records, and to conduct thorough checks on the residents. He mentions he will gather information about Oe and entrusts the remaining tasks to her. Overwhelmed, Shimizu remarks on the workload seemingly falling on her shoulders. Casually, Higuruma also requests Shimizu to look after the client's cat, leaving her bewildered as she is unaware of any cat.

As they stroll down the street, Shimizu reflects on the thankless job of a public defender, burdened with low pay and excessive work. The public's perception of Oe's guilt and the grim prospects of the case weigh on her. The possibility of a death sentence looms large without the option of a suspended sentence. Shimizu questions Higuruma's decision to accept such a case. He responds with composure, suggesting that challenging work prevents one's skills from becoming dull. Shimizu vocalizes her thoughts, noting the frequency with which they handle such difficult cases. Higuruma points out her habit of speaking her thoughts aloud.

In a later visit to Takagi's café, Shimizu shares updates about Higuruma, prompting Takagi to reminisce and laugh about his unchanging nature. Shimizu inquires if Higuruma has always been this way, to which Takagi muses that he might have become more intense, sharing a story about one case from his time at her office.

Afterwards, Shimizu and Higuruma delve into their investigation, gathering evidence and inquiring about Oe. Their diligence pays off as they secure a victory in their case, leaving Shimizu astonished. Yet, Higuruma cautions that their work isn't finished, knowing that they will immediately appeal. Amidst this, the family of the victims seeks a retrial. During a prison visit, Oe expresses gratitude for their belief in his innocence.

The second trial, however, concludes with Oe's conviction and a life sentence, a verdict rendered without new evidence, reflecting a prejudiced system. This injustice triggers a dramatic change in Higuruma. In a surreal moment, he summons a gavel, striking it in defiance of the verdict, leaving Shimizu bewildered by his actions. Higuruma's transformation into a sorcerer is complete as he demands a retrial, with his shikigami, Judgeman, ominously present. This act of rebellion culminates in the demise of both the judge and the prosecutor.

Shinjuku Showdown Arc

Following his survival from the intense battle with Sukuna, Higuruma pays a visit to Shimizu and Takagi. During the meeting, Shimizu observes that it appears they will not pursue charges against him for the deaths of the judge and prosecutor. Higuruma suspects that the decision may stem from higher-up pressure. He speculates that they intend to exploit his abilities as a sorcerer to the fullest. Acknowledging this, Higuruma offers his apologies. In response, Shimizu says that they will have a retrial on behalf of the bereaved and as their attorney, she promises to nail him. Higuruma tells her he is counting on it.

Fanon

In the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom, Higumizu ship is considered a rarepair, likely because Shimizu plays a smaller role in the narrative, though she holds significance in Higuruma's arc. Despite this, a dedicated small part of the fandom cherishes Higumizu, actively crafting stories and artwork celebrating their dynamic, particularly on social media platforms like Twitter/X.

Even so, the pairing is rare enough that fresh fan-made content is scarce. On fanfiction platforms like AO3, the tag indicating a romantic connection between these two characters contain only a single work. They also have a one fanfic acknowledging their platonic bond. In fan-written stories, Shimizu is typically in a supporting role, often alongside Higuruma's more popular pairings such as KusaHigu or HiguNana. Although these ships can be considered to be rivals of Higumizu, there is no open rivalry between the fans.
