Hinaegi is a slash ship between Hajime Hinata and Makoto Naegi from the Danganronpa fandom.
Canon[]
Makoto placed Hajime, now known as Izuru Kamukura, and the rest of the Remnants of Despair in the Neo World Program in order to cure them of their brainwashing. Despite knowing this action will upset the Future Foundation, Makoto chooses to believe Izuru and the others can be saved. During the final trial of Danganronpa 2, he, Kyoko Kirigiri, and Byakuya Togami all choose to join the Neo World Program to encourage the survivors, including Hajime, risking being trapped in the program forever with faith that they will make the right choice. Once he has awaken from the program, Hajime brings the rest of his classmates to assist Makoto in stopping Ryota Mitarai from using his brainwashing anime on the rest of the world. The two are shown to be grateful to each other for their assistance, nodding at each other in thanks at the end of the Danganronpa 3 anime.
They share one event in Danganronpa V3's bonus mode, Ultimate Talent Development Plan, with Shuichi Saihara, where the three protagonists talk about giving gifts for their friends. They also have one more event together without Shuichi, where they try to solve the puzzles of an escape room. In Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, an expanded version of V3's Ultimate Talent Development Plan, the two more potential events together. One is only on Hajime's route, where the two discuss their potential plans for the future, bonding over the fact that Makoto's Ultimate Lucky Student Talent being too unreliable to use for a potential career and Hajime having no talent at all allowing them to have multiple options for their futures compared to their more talented classmates. The other is only available on Makoto's route and involves the two talking about what it was like hanging out with Ultimates despite both being more average people.
Their similarities include their somewhat similar designs, especially the hairstyle, their shared roles of the protagonists of their respective game and anime titles, and both losing their implied love interests during the killing games. A major point of both of their games is that the two are more "normal" than the rest of the Ultimates they interact with throughout their games. They also both have some levels of insecurities due to their lack of actual talent or particularly standout qualities. These traits, however, also make it easier for them to bond with the rest of the students, and pushes them to be the ones to lead the trials in their own games. Both of them are also given the title of "Ultimate Hope" at certain points. For Makoto, it is given to him at the end of the first game, when his optimism allows him to defeat Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Despair. For Hajime, it is given to him once he undergoes a transformation to become Izuru Kamukura and embodies all talent.
Fanon[]
The ship sailed as a result of both being the protagonists of two consecutive games. Some slight similarities in their designs, personalities, and roles listed above also helped to further fuel the ship. Their shared experiences in both having participated in killing games and having to watch their friends die also provided a good jumping off point for the two to bond over for the shippers. Their roles as fellow protagonists of respective Danganronpa entries allowed them to appear on a lot of promotional art together.
However, while their similar roles make this a fairly popular ship, it's still not as popular as some other ships of both characters. The fact that the two have only two minor interactions on-screen in the canon is partly to blame. Another reason is both being a Launcher of a Thousand Ships due to having Free Time Events available with all of their classmates in their respective games. This leads to people tending to prefer to ship them with the people from their own games that they've interacted with more. Furthermore, both having canon implied love interests (Sayaka and later Kyoko for Makoto, AI Chiaki and Chiaki for Hajime).
Fan arts would often show them in their "No, that's wrong!" poses together, referencing their roles as the main characters to solve the mysteries at the Class Trials. Sometimes they're shown along with the other "Trial Point Getters". Some other, however, depict Makoto's encounter with Izuru Kamukura, Hajime's alter ego.
