“Hitoya, you're my hero!”
— Jyushi after Hitoya inspires him to start music

Hitojyushi is the family ship between Hitoya Amaguni and Jyushi Aimono from the Hypnosis Mic fandom.

Canon[]

Hitoya and Jyushi are members of Bad Ass Temple alongside Kuko. Hitoya advocated for Jyushi and stopped him from suicide during their first meetings and acted as a role model for him ever since. Jyushi greatly admires and looks up to Hitoya for all his help and his strong sense of justice and musical talent. Hitoya finds Jyushi's new persona as an annoyance, but he still dotes on him and tries his best to encourage him, mainly siding on his side during arguments with Kuko. Since the start, Hitoya had a soft spot for Jyushi, as he saw himself in him as well as his deceased older brother.

History[]

At the time they met, Jyushi was 14 years old and Hitoya was a 31-year-old lawyer working to stop bullies. Jyushi was severely bullied at school by his former friend Iyogi, and on one day, Iyogi's gang corners Jyushi and steal his stuffed doll Amanda, they begin to rip it as Jyushi screams in protest. However, they're cut short after Hitoya spots the scene and orders Iyogi to stop with a threatening glare. Iyogi sweats and glares back at Hitoya who declares the one thing he detests is bullying. Iyogi pulls on Amanda again, and Hitoya states he can charge the gang with extortion and property damage, glaring Iyogi down and announcing that he's a lawyer. Iyogi throws Amanda to the ground and walks off, and Jyushi is overjoyed as he cries, profusely thanking Hitoya.

Hitoya stares sadly at him, asking, "It's tough, isn't it?" before saying the very words that would inspire Jyushi for years, telling him to never give up no matter what life throws at you. Jyushi's eyes sparkle at these words, stunned in place and admiring Hitoya's inspiring words. Hitoya takes out a business card and hands it to Jyushi, asking him to give his office a call if it gets too hard.

Jyushi is in disbelief when Hitoya turns around and says he doesn't want money, walking off. Jyushi stops him, yelling out an introduction of himself with a blush. Hitoya waves goodbye to Jyushi, who gapes with a bigger blush, now inspired. Even when the bullying progressively got worse, Jyushi would continue to recall Hitoya's words of encouragement to him, repeating them to himself as a sort of mantra. Jyushi would look into his mirror and repeat Hitoya's words, "That's how you can become the very coolest person you can be. No matter what! No matter what!" Jyushi would arrive at school posing with pure confidence in hopes of fulfilling Hitoya's words.

Jyushi would later ask for Hitoya's help after Iyogi's gang killed his grandmother. Jyushi wrote a letter with the incriminating evidence of the murder, thanking Hitoya and writing that by the time of his letter, he'd already be dead. This immediately triggered Hitoya as he bolted for his life to find where Jyushi would be jumping. Luckily, Hitoya caught him standing above the balcony, panting and staring at Jyushi with his utter sympathy and anguish. Hitoya told Jyushi that the bullies wouldn't even remember his face ten years down the road, telling him that his life wasn't worth wasting on scum. Jyushi cried and begged Hitoya to leave him be, explaining he couldn't live with the pain he felt.

“Jyushi…I swear to you…That I will use the law to crack down…on those pieces of shit who made you feel this way…”

Hitoya apologized, claiming he'd never understand how Jyushi felt- but that he'd understand how Jyushi's family would feel, as Hitoya reveals his older brother died of suicide after being bullied. Jyushi stares back at Hitoya as he shares the unmistakable pain he felt after his brother killed himself. Hitoya reaches out a hand to Jyushi, begging him to imagine how his family would feel after his suicide. Jyushi's lips open in mute shock, and he begins to realize, grabbing Hitoya's hand and crying as he hugs him. Hitoya glares and he promises he'll crack down the pieces of shit that brought Jyushi to this place.

Hitoya comforts Jyushi

Hitoya ruffles Jyushi’s hair, telling him he did well.

With his promise, Hitoya acts as Jyushi's lawyer and gets Iyogi sentences to 15 years of prison with hard labor. Even with justice dealt, Jyushi felt empty and unrelieved as he sat by Hitoya and explained he felt saddened. Hitoya told Jyushi to make a deal with his emotions and overcome them, ruffling Jyushi's hair and telling him he did well. Jyushi continued to sob, and from then on, Hitoya acted as Jyushi's role model and adjacent father figure.

After the trial, Hitoya visits Jyushi and asks him why he hasn't attended school lately. Jyushi asks if he's going to be forced to go, and Hitoya denies this, listening to Jyushi's grievances. Jyushi explains he's scared of people now, other than Hitoya who saved his life. Hitoya then thinks about Jakurai's words and tells Jyushi that someone told him no good comes out of staying home. Hitoya says he should try something new, and Jyushi remains slumped and downcast.

Hitoya sees a poster of Jyushi's favorite band and gets an idea to bring him out. He asks if Jyushi likes that band, and with a confirmation, Hitoya says they'll go to one of their concerts. Jyushi is shocked and explains it costs too much money, but Hitoya grabs his phone with a smile and says he'll arrange tickets for them. Later, Jyushi is in awe as they head to the concert. Hitoya explains he has links to the music industry, and Jyushi bows profusely, eyes sparkling as he thanks him. Jyushi nervously asks if he could buy merch and runs off, making Hitoya smile at how Jyushi is happier now.

Jyushi is dumbfounded as the concert starts, and Hitoya pats his back and tells him to go to the front. Jyushi smiles with a blush and after the concert, he starts yelling in excitement, overjoyed. Hitoya sweats with a smile as Jyushi begins to fanboy over the concert, stating he's in love with the main guitar player Ban. Jyushi rants madly, then Hitoya interrupts to suggest Jyushi to try playing music himself. Jyushi is hesitant at this proposal, but Hitoya tells Jyushi that everyone starts as a beginner, even Ban. Hitoya leads Jyushi to a music shop much to the latter's surprise, smiling as Jyushi tried out one of the guitars. Hitoya has a go at the guitar, and as he plays, Jyushi begins to marvel and jump around, calling it so cool and amazing. Hitoya says he could give one of his guitars to Jyushi, prompting his excitement as he grins widely. Hitoya smiles at his reaction, and that night he invites Jyushi to his place to have him pick out a guitar. Jyushi ends up asking Hitoya what made him start music in the first place, and this jogs Hitoya's memory.

Hitoya remembers how after his older brother committed suicide he was in the same place as Jyushi. He recalls Jakurai visiting his place and saying the exact words of asking him whether he'd like to start music or not, and Hitoya relays the story. Hitoya then gives his brother's guitar to Jyushi; he states the guitar means a lot to him, and that it lifted him up when he was depressed, passing it on to Jyushi. He asks if he can hear his music some time, and Jyushi accepts gladly with a smile.

However, this somewhat backfired, as a few days later Jyushi enters Hitoya's office as a new person, speaking in a ridiculously complex manner and posing dramatically. Hitoya deadpans and sighs at Jyushi's theatrics, shocked at his new persona and scolding Jyushi for causing a disturbance. Nevertheless, Hitoya was glad when Jyushi announced he was now in a band, wishing him good luck. As Jyushi bolted to run out the office, he looked back and called Hitoya his hero, before he chuckled and figured it was better than Jyushi feeling blue. Although Hitoya would grow more and more annoyed by Jyushi's sudden and dramatic act, he was glad to see him happy. From then on, Jyushi would break into Hitoya’s office for trivial and meaningless things to share with him, annoying Hitoya who’d speak in a caustic and irate tone, but nevertheless appreciating it.

Hitojyushi as a romantic pairing is severely hated on mainly in the Western fandom, as Jyushi was 14 and Hitoya was 31 when Hitoya began to act as a father figure for him. However, there are still many fans of the pairing in romantic who interpret Jyushi to have a crush on Hitoya, although portrayals of Hitoya as Jyushi's father is far more common and popular in general since they view each other as family.
