HoppyNap is the het ship between Hoppy Hopscotch and CatNap from the Poppy Playtime fandom.

Canon

Smiling Critters - Can't Sleep

CatNap arrives at DogDay's house where the latter and the rest of the Smiling Critters are trying to sleep through the strong winds. The critters are excited to see him there with all cheering his name. Hoppy Hopscotch chants to him in hopes of helping her and the rest of them fall asleep. As CatNap releases a red gas from his mouth, Hoppy and the other critters start laughing hysterically. After a moment of hysteria, Hoppy and the other critters pass out around CatNap.

Deep Sleep

At some point, Hoppy and the rest of the Bigger Bodies version of the Smiling Critters save DogDay were killed off by CatNap. The Ruined Critters version of Hoppy Hopscotch, along with the rest of the miniature critters, became loyal to CatNap after witnessing The Prototype's enemies perishing. The miniature CatNap and Hoppy plushies work with the rest of its kind to take down The Player, sometimes teaming up to get a numbers advantage over The Player. They later take over the Bigger Bodies version of DogDay's body, climbing up in his torso, to try and catch The Player through the Playhouse.

In the ARG leading up to the game's release, Hoppy and CatNap were the last two of the Smiling Critters to have their descriptions revealed on Twitter. Unused artwork for the game made by artist Scott Forester also depicts the two as friends with the rest of the critters. One piece shows CatNap playing with Hoppy and Bobby BearHug among other arts showing them huddled together.

Fanon

The ship marks its presence within video edits of them gaining a following on TikTok. Numerous fan art of them also surrounds platforms such as on Twitter, Pinterest, and DeviantArt. In art, the two usually demonstrate a difference in their level of energy that some fans like to bring together, with Hoppy Hopscotch representing speed and CatNap representing sleep. This dynamic has allowed shippers of the two to put them together as well as showing affection between the two in many artworks. While prevalent in this area, fan fictions are not as common for them as with other ships with the Smiling Critters. Much more works are tagged platonically between them on AO3 compared to romantically. Despite this, their fanbase is mainly through the other forementioned platforms. Common searches indicate their respective ships with Bobby BearHug as well as CatNap's ship with DogDay and Hoppy's ship with KickinChicken as ship rivals.

On AO3, as of November 16, 2024, the ship has 23 works under its platonic tag and 2 under the romantic tag. It is the third most written ship for Hoppy Hopscotch and the ninth most for CatNap on the site.
