Hualiu is the femslash ship between Marshal Hua and Jingliu from the Honkai fandom.
Canon[]
Jingliu and Marshal Hua have never interacted on screen. It can be assumed that they at least know each other due to Jingliu being a former member of the renowned High-Cloud Quintet and Hua being the marshal of the Cloud Knights. This would mean that if Hua was a Cloud Knight during the time of the Quintet, she and Jingliu both participated in the War on the Abundance. Both are also connected to Jing Yuan, who was Jingliu's apprentice and now Hua's subordinate.
Because Hua is only a mentioned character, her personality is undeterminable. However, she demonstrates a the same dedication to wiping out the Abundance as Jingliu does. This can be seen when Jingliu instructs Jing Yuan to never hold back if she is ever mara-struck. Marshal Hua too believes to never hold back, as seen in the "Root Out the Turpitude" Assignment text: "The Hunt must not stop as long as the abominations remain." This mirrors Fu Hua's rhetoric against the Honkai in Honkai Impact 3rd: "No mercy for the corrupted." In general, Jingliu and HI3's Fu Hua share a lot of personality traits. Both are cold, stoic, and willing to die to eradicate a malevolent force. Fu Hua and Jingliu also struggle with grief and memory loss. Additionally, both were martial arts masters with their own disciples.
It is very likely Marshal Hua and Jingliu may meet in the future during Luocha and Jingliu’s trial. It is said Luocha and Jingliu’s goal on the Xianzhou is to ultimately get the Marshal’s attention.
Fanon[]
Hualiu is a rarepair, with most of its content coming from Twitter. The ship has a small but dedicated number of fan artists, garnering at most few thousand likes with each artwork. When Jingliu's design was first leaked in October 2022, the fandom was quick to point out her similarities to Fu Hua. Though their physical appearances were quite different, Jingliu's cold but refined demeanor was reminiscent of Fu Hua, specifically Azure Empyrea Fu Hua.
Fans of both characters, especially ones who enjoy femslash ships, started to see potential in the Hualiu because of their parallels. On top of these similarities, some fans have pointed out how Fu Hua and Jingliu's former groups — the 13 Flame-Chasers and the High-Cloud Quintet — are a bit similar, both consisting of flawed heroes that came to a tragic end. As Jingliu and Fu Hua are both immortals with sad backstories, fan arts tend to be subdued and mystical with a bit of angst. The ship mainly involves Marshal Hua from Honkai: Star Rail, but since there is not a lot of information about her, depictions are normally based on HI3's Fu Hua.

- The ship name "JingHua" is also popular, though that is also the main ship name for Jing Yuan x Hua.
- Some of Fu Hua and Jingliu's most popular ships are with Kiana and Baiheng respectively. Both Kiana and Baiheng are cheerful, white-haired characters voiced by Tao Dian.
- The Chinese idiom 镜花水月 (jìnghuā shuǐyuè), meaning an illusion, contains the ship name "JingHua", albeit with a different character and tone from Fu Hua's name.
