Hudy is the het ship between Hugh and Judy Neutron from the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius fandom.

Canon[]

Hugh and Judy met sometime in the late-70s to mid-80s, having been hippies at the time who shared a love for disco and dancing. They married around five years after having met each other and raised their son Jimmy in their shared hometown of Retroville. Judy is keeping house while Hugh appears to be the breadwinner of the family, though he does state that Jimmy's mother is in charge of the finances while he himself is not.

The movie starts with Judy having to make breakfast for Hugh in the oven, since she can't find her toaster, which Jimmy "borrowed" to serve as a space probe to contact aliens. However, Jimmy's rocket crashes onto the Neutron house's roof, leading to his parents discovering him. When Judy ask their son why she disobeyed him (again), Jimmy explains that he received a message from aliens that had been garbled and that he wanted to fly closer to the Earth's atmosphere to sent a clear one, but Judy shoots him down by telling him not to talk to strangers and Hugh agrees with her.

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius[]

Season 1[]

The first episode to put any focus on their relationship is the seventh episode "Time is Money", where Jimmy wants his parents to buy a set of encyclopedias, but Judy shoots it down because they can't afford paying 500$ for a novelty. Jimmy then frets to his father about it, wishing the family was rich, but Hugh tells him that they almost were. A few years before Jimmy was born, Hugh had the opportunity to make an investment with McSpanky's, the famous fast food chain that had a humble start in Retroville. Jimmy ignores his father's advice to be thankful for what he has and instead plans to travel 15 years into the past with Sheen and Carl to convince his past father to make that investment. They catch Jimmy's future parents dancing with each other to a disco tune and introduce themselves as neighborhood kids who saw that the door was open. When Jimmy makes a comment to his future father about "his wife", Hugh chuckles and tells Jimmy that he's not married to Judy yet, which shocks Jimmy. He quickly recovers and tells his future father to make that investment with McSpanky's and to get that encyclopedia set for "his son". Jimmy is initially happy when he and his friends return to see Jimmy's house rebuilt with precious metals and statues. But the joy doesn't last as his parents have both completely lost sight of doing anything but gaining even more money, to the point where Hugh refuses to pay for his own father's life-saving operation. They even forgot their sons name, calling him by a different name each and shoo his friends away by insulting them, then bribing them with goldbricks to make them leave. When Jimmy insists on making them notice him, they get their butler to shove Jimmy back to his room simply for acting like their son. Jimmy finds out that his parents did actually buy the encyclopedia set like he told them to, but is saddened by losing their unconditional love in the process and decides to set things right again by convincing his past father to not make the investment after all. When he notices his parents are back to normal, his mother suggests buying him the encyclopedia set by using their saved up vacation money and postpone the latter, but Jimmy happily declines. When Jimmy asks his father why he didn't invest in McSpanky's, Hugh tells him that he needed the money to buy Judy a wedding ring. Judy proudly shows it off, telling Jimmy that it was paid with the only money his father owned at the time, essentially saying that his father preferred to be with her than be wealthy.

Fanon[]

Though it isn't very popular in fanfic, the relationship between Jimmy's parents is well-praised by fans for being fairly refreshing compared to how other parents were depicted at the time. Many appreciate that they are written to be responsible without being at each other's throats and talk things out to ensure that peace is kept instead of fighting.

In addition, the sheer amount of flirting and little things they do for each other clearly shows that their relationship is healthy even 15 years after their marriage.
