Hunter and Jake's first meeting
When Hunter and Ally board the airplane, Hunter greets Jake and Miriam expressing how great it was to meet them in person. Jake shares the same feelings as he smiles at him. Jake and Hunter would later form part of the Magenta Team, having received the same parachute color for the skydives into Camp Tipiskaw, becoming temporal teammates until merge. When the members are spending time until the challenge starts, Ally proposes a proper way to cover their tent against the incoming rain, having learned it from the game 'Forestcraft', but Hunter forgot about it as he notably didn't listen to her explanation on their way to the campsite, making Jake and Ashley share bitter glances at each other, this former being more obvious.

Hunter looks at Jake being called a 'spoiled brat' by James
After losing, Ally, Ashley and Hunter spectate Jake and James' beef in awe, and amongst the comments Hunter says that ever since Jake blew up on James, there has been a lot of discussion on which one of them should go home, although he wanted neither and instead Fiore since she was the weakest member. James was utterly disappointed that the team had sided up with the 'spoiled brat' (Jake), and Hunter has to agree because James was actually helpful in the challenges. When he's leaving, James bitterly wishes good luck to the rest having a paranoid nutcase with them, making Jake furiously look at him while Hunter looks at Jake after knowing whom James was talking about.

Hunter and Jake smiling at each other when they score a respective point for the team
Hunter is the first one to compliment Jake and Ashley's fish that they had caught for their food, following Ally thanking them, and Jake replies in happiness that the fish equipment went in clutch. Hunter looks at Jake with a chill smile during the moment. When the sandbag challenge is up and it's now Hunter's turn to compete, and ultimately manages to score a point for the team, although Jake doesn't congratulate him, he does smile at him in joy. Jake's turn was next, and when he gets his team another point, Hunter gives him a pleased smile. After winning the first place, Kristal mentions that their rewards were sleeping bags, and Hunter celebrates, and Jake shows a smirk.

A possible team-up alongside the rest of teammates to vote Fiore out
On episode 5, Jake and Ashley want to accept Fiore's alliance request she had done at the start, however she refuses as she tells her the consideration of teamiung up with Ally and Hunter, however Jake points out his doubt of her ever managing to convince Hunter. For the next challenge, they're placed together as the first participants of their team, and they share smiles (Jake being a confident and wider one). During the track they are talking about Miriam's letter, and Hunter asks him where he would stand, to which he replies they have to vote Fiore out.

Hunter angry for having trusted Fiore on winning the challenge
Hunter agrees, however when he's mentioning the people they have to involve for this, he crashes with a tree, causing Jake to look him on pain and stopping while nervously asking if he was alright. Hunter says he is, but his bike's tire was broken, so it was on Jake to take his flag too, also mentioning he'd catch him up. Jake is surprised their team lost despite being way ahead, and Hunter reminds him that they had trusted Fiore to win the challenge for them. After Hunter is voted out, Jake apologizes to him but they had done what it was best of their game.
In episode 6, Jake mentions Hunter on the confessional that they had to vote him last night, and as much as he didn't like Fiore, if he got to merge with Ally and Tess, they'd have taken the game over.
In episode 10, Jake mentions Hunter briefly while arguing with Ally about the gamer's comment about Jake just talking about himself and his problems, reminding her that she would not stop talking about him once he got out, yet didn't see Jake complaining. The gamer points at him accusatively while threatening him not to dare bring Hunter, as he's not his business.
In episode 14, when Jake is discharging himself with Ally after calling the gamer the most insecure person he's ever met, he says that he feels bad for Hunter having to deal with her bullshit.
In episode 15, when it's Jake's turn to pick someone of his choice to interrogate them, he goes with Ally to ask her about if she agreed to date Hunter only because that would make her feel better to fans. Ally then insults Jake to then deny the question, which turns out to be the truth.
In episode 18, the challenge's explanation is that the final four contestants will be dressing up assigned mannequins of respective All-Stars' participants and friends, having to look for the clothes through a maze. Jake is enraged to the fact that Ally has been assignated Ashley and not Hunter.
Moments[]
- In one of Jake's fan personalized greetings, one of the questions made is about who he found attractive from the cast members aside from Tom, to which he replies Hunter, adding that he may have a type.[1]
- In more greetings, while ranking which of the cast members they think are attractive, they both have each other as their second choice.[2]
- In another greeting, Hunter says he wishes Jake didn't focus on his issues with Tom so he could get to know him better. When asked what he thought of being shipped with Jake, his response was: "Never say never." [3]
- Another greeting shows Hunter mentioning Jake, who stated that Hunter is cute. However, Hunter clarified that he is already in a relationship, which made him assume that Ally's dislike for Jake might be due to her jealousy.[4]
- In a Tom fan greeting, when asked about going on a double date with his "new boyfriend" along with Hunter and Jake, Tom is noticeably saddened by the idea while hoping Jake the best and claiming he deserves someone who's strong enough.[5]
- When "Hunter from the Losers' Motel" reaches to Tom, the cop intially wonders in anger how'd he get his number, however he ends up reading "his" note which said that "he"'ll fill his room with roses for him if Jake gets eliminated, and would also court him like a SIMS character to the point Jake forgets Tom's name from his vocabulary.[6] Of course, the "Hunter" person isn't actually himself, but the fan who'd sent him the note, however Tom actually believed on "Hunter"'s message.
- Despite Hunter's elimination, which included Jake voting for him, the former decides to root for him in one of his greetings, even wishing him luck in "dealing with Ally".[7]
- In an Ally greeting, when she's asked about "Huntake", she mistakes the ship for "Hunter x Lake", and expresses discomfort and non-supportiveness of it.[8]
Fanon[]
Huntake is rather popular in the fandom, which origins begin back ago before All-Stars' premiere, when fans theorized that Jake's ex (who had cheated on him) might have been Hunter, and hoped for this fact to be confirmed true once the third season aired. When this happened, not many were surprised that Hunter/Jake wasn't actually canon as it was merely conjecturing, but another part still was disappointed that they have only been acquaintances and nothing had actually happened between them. The theory has also been completely discarded as Jake's ex-boyfriend turned out to be a different person. Another reason of its popularity might be because the current problem they have with their relationships, and how maybe if they bonded they could somehow get ahead in their romantic life either by dating each other and/or by fixing things with their canonical love interests by giving a better explanation of their situation rather than hiding from their problems.
Still people prefer this ship over HuntAlly and even TomJake, due to the toxic nature on these former ships, wanting Jake to already overcome Tom and to find someone proper for him, Hunter being a faithful candidate. Fans are still saddened by Hunter's eviction, but that at least Jake was getting a redemption in the season. On the friendship side, people hope Hunter and Jake to get along well, and despite the small hints on romantic tease between them, fans would still like them staying as friends only.
There are 7 fan fictions available on AO3 for the pairing, plus the following is very extense in Twitter and TikTok.
