Hurina is the femslash ship between Furina and Hu Tao from the Genshin Impact fandom.
Canon[]
Hu Tao and Furina have only interacted in the 2024 Lantern Rite event and most likely do not know each other that well since the two are from different regions. Furina originates from Fontaine, while Hu Tao resides in Liyue.
Hu Tao and Furina share a lot of similarities, both in terms of personality and design. Personality-wise, the two are quite the extroverts by looking at the surface, and are rather playful by nature, sometimes even sort of mischievous. They also share similar designs; as both have long hair that is split up in pigtails, wear shorts and a hat. In gameplay, Hu Tao and Furina can work well together in a vaporize team. This is because Hu Tao has a Pyro vision whilst Furina has a Hydro vision.
Lantern Rite 2024[]
Hu Tao and Furina meet in Qiaoying Village (Chenyu Vale) while Hu Tao and Zhongli were visiting the region. When Furina learns that the traveller and Hu Tao know each other, she says she's not surprised to see the traveller is "well connected". Furina explored Chenyu Vale to find inspiration for her creative endeavors and appreciate the picturesque landscapes. She emphasized her role as a simple tourist, separate from her celebrity status in Fontaine. Hu Tao, however, expressed a different perspective, acknowledging Furina as more than just a tourist and revealing her as an esteemed client. When Furina confirmed this, everyone was shocked.
Paimon revealed she just lost a bet with the Traveler, about the reason both were talking was because Hu Tao was promoting her business to Miss Furina and Hu Tao confirmed she just struck a huge deal. When Paimon worried about Furina needing the services of a funeral parlor, Furina clarified that Hu Tao was assisting her with props for an upcoming film based on Liyue horror stories.
Zhongli mentions later that Hu Tao and Furina were having a productive conversation about business, so he took the chance to go and get some tea.
After Navia and Clorinde join them and before parting ways, Hu Tao gets really close to Furina and recites an horror poem that makes Furina scream. She asks to Clorinde and Navia to escort her home. Hu Tao giggles and says that Furina is "quite the character".
Fanon[]
Hurina is mostly shipped because of the similarities between the two, with some people seeing the potential for a good friendship and also chemistry for something more if they had more screen time together. While some ship them romantically, others may see them more as sisters, since their personalities are very similar. Because of their said similarities, people often call Furina the "Hu Tao of Fontaine". Fan-works wise, design swaps are quite popular for them in fan arts. There are currently 6+ fanfictions of the two on AO3.
Furina and Hu Tao both have a ship with a older, mature and quite serious guy in which they serve as the "extroverted and playful girlfriend". The mentioned ships being, Neuvifuri and ZhongTao. Since the two ships are so similar dynamic-wise, the two couples are sometimes portrayed as a double-date in fan-works. Furina and Hu Tao are also sometimes portrayed as best friends in fan-works since their similar personalities give a good basis for a possible friendship in the future.
However as it is with almost all Genshin Impact ships that have barely interacted in-canon, both Furina and Hu Tao have several much more popular ships, such as, Neuvirina, ZhongTao, HuXiao and YanTao. Despite being relatively unpopular in its fandom there is a decent amount of fan-art and fanfiction created for the ship.
