HyakkiMio is the het ship between Hyakkimaru and Mio from the Dororo fandom.

2019 Anime[]
After defeating Tanosuke, who had been corrupted by the demon Nihil, Hyakkimaru gets his ears back. He has a lot of difficulty in adapting to sound and this also weakens his fighting abilities. Dororo and Biwamaru try to help him but he is only annoyed by his voices. They decide to call it a day and sleep In the forest.
The next day Hyakkimaru wakes up to a melodious singing voice. He follows it and stumbles upon Mio who was singing while washing herself in the river. Hyakkimaru goes close to Mio and at first she looks confused but then she finds out, he is blind. She sees that Hyakkimaru is injured, and he starts to lose consciousness. She prevents him from falling and then Biwamaru and Dororo also come to help her. Then They all go to Mio’s house to get Hyakkimaru treated.
Mio takes care of orphaned children at her house and supports them by working at the Sakai Army Camp at night. When Hyakkimaru gains consciousness, he is seen to be annoyed by the loud noises made by Dororo and the kids. Mio comes to check up on Hyakkimaru and tells him that she will bring medicine for him to treat his fever. Then she goes off to work and Hyakkimaru tries to call out to her to stop her but she doesn’t see. Dororo sees this and gets a hint that Hyakkimaru is attracted to only Mio’s voice.

Since Dororo has a very small fandom and is not known by many people, Hyakkimio is not very popular. However among the Dororo fandom it is very popular. Even though Mio is a side character who appears for only 2 episodes in the 2019 anime and in the 1969 version, is already dead, people love these two characters together because of their interactions together, and how they both care so much for each other. Mio is seen to be the character Hyakkimaru is most attached to even though he had known her for such a short time.
On AO3, Hyakkimio is the second most written for Hyakkimaru, and the first most written for Mio. It is also the first most written within the Dororo tag.

Trivia[]
- In the anime Young Black Jack, Hyakkimaru and Mio’s alternate characters were married to each other.
- There is a popular theory among the fans that Hyakkimaru thinks by killing demons, he can get back what was taken from him, and that is why he is convinced that by killing the samurai who killed Mio, he will get her back as he views them no different than the demons.
