Hydro Girls is the friend ship between Barbara Pegg, Candace, Furina de Fontaine, Mona Megistus, Mualani, Nilou, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Sigewinne and Yelan from the Genshin Impact fandom.
Canon[]
While the majority of them have not met, they all share the similarity of wielding both a Hydro vision and a female body model, hence the ship name. They are all generally kind and caring people, proved by their interactions with the Traveler, and have a goal they are dedicated to carry out or achieve. They all have different occupations: Barbara is an idol and deaconess, Candace is the guardian of Aaru Village, Furina is the retired Hydro Archon of Fontaine, Mona is an astrologist and student of Barbeloth, Mualani is the owner of the watersports shop Leisurely Puffer, Nilou is a dancer under Zubayr Theater, Kokomi is the Priestess of Watatsumi Island, Sigewinne is the head nurse of the Fortress of Meropide, and Yelan is an intelligence agent.
Archon Quests[]
Some characters have interacted in Archon Quests, either directly or indirectly.
During the Fontaine Archon Quest, Sigewine serves as a protest against Furina's claim that she is the true Hydro Archon. When Neuvillette calls Sigewinne to check on Furina's condition, the latter expresses surprise and worry. After checking, Sigewinne concludes Furina had experienced the same symptoms of normal humans from the Primordial Seawater she previously touched.
During the Sumeru Archon Quest, Candace and Nilou both take part in the plan to save Lesser Lord Kusanali. Candace discusses the plan with the others participating. Nilou, on the other hand, performs a dance in front of the Sumeru Akademiya as a distraction from Lesser Lord Kusanali's escape.
Fanon[]
In the Genshin Impact fandom, Hydro Girls is not seen much as a friendship, much less a romantic poly ship. The group has gained some recognition from players who are fond of the Hydro element, making posts showcasing them with captions of how they think their elemental bursts, skills, poses or them in general are pretty.
Originally, Barbara and Mona were the only Hydro girls, and some called them the Hydro girls duo. They shared the similarity of not only wielding a Hydro vision, but also a catalyst. This further encouraged fans to pair them together. There was a large time gap between version 1.0 and Kokomi (the next Hydro girl)'s release, being almost a year later. She happened to also be a catalyst character, and was added to the ship, now being known as the Hydro trio or Hydro catalyst trio. Yelan was then released, the first non-catalyst Hydro girl. Eventually, some fans began interpreting Hydro girls as only referring to Mona, Kokomi, Yelan, Nilou and Furina, popular Hydro 5-stars.
Some fans still like to imagine them hanging out and bonding together as a group.
