Hyoshun is the slash ship between Cygnus Hyoga and Andromeda Shun from the Saint Seiya fandom.
Canon[]
Hyoga and Shun are fellow Bronze Saints alongside Seiya and Shiryu. Before becoming Athena Saints, Hyoga and Shun trained together since they were kids in the Kido Mansion (Japan) along with many other children. At certain point, they had to part to their respective training places to get the Bronze Cloth. Hyoga was assigned to Siberia, and Shun to the Andromeda Island (Ethiopia). They spent several years there getting stronger and proving they are worthy of the cloth. After earning it, they returned to Japan to participate in the Galaxian Wars, a tournament celebrated by the Kido Estate to earn a Gold Cloth.
In the Sanctuary Arc, Hyoga and Shun enter together inside the Gemini temple. As Shun's chains aren't reacting to the Gemini Saint who stands silent in front of them, Shun asks Hyoga to be careful and not attack yet. However, Hyoga argues that they cannot waste any more time and attacks the Gemini Saint twice only to have their attacks thrown back at them. Then, the Gemini Saint opens a portal to Another Dimension. Shun tries to catch Hyoga with his chain, but he has to let go after noticing he won't succeed. Hyoga is sucked into Another Dimension while Shun stays in the Gemini Temple to try and defeat the Gemini Saint.
Shun is reunited with his friends and together they find Hyoga again inside a block of ice in the Gemini Temple. After revealing that this temple belongs to Shiryu's master, they decide to use the Libra weapons to break the ice and save Hyoga. Shiryu breaks the ice using a sword, but Hyoga remains unconscious. Shun decides to stay in the Libra temple with Hyoga, warming him up with his body, and asks Seiya and Shiryu to go ahead to the Scorpio temple.
The scene is slightly different both in the manga and in the anime. In the manga he just holds Hyoga to pass him his cosmos, while in the anime he lies almost on top of him. After using almost all his cosmos to revive Hyoga, Shun passes out and Hyoga carries him in his arms to the Scorpio temple, where he gives a speech about sacrifice and what Shun actions mean to him. He passes Shun's unconscious body to Shiryu and Seiya, and tells them to carry on while he fights Milo, the Scorpio Saint.
In the Hades Arc, Shun, considered the human with the purest heart on Earth, is chosen as Hades vessel. Hyoga and the rest of the bronze saints infiltrate in hell to save him and defeat Hades.
Episode G[]
In Episode G: Assassin, Hyoga and Shun are neighbours living next to each other. Shun, who is now a doctor, helps Hyoga raise his adopted daughter Natassia. The girl refers to Shun as "mom".
Netflix/Crunchyroll Knights of the Zodiac (2019)[]
In this Spin-off, Andromeda Shun is replaced by a girl named Shaun. The character is mostly based on a female version of Shun and it is speculated that they may become canon in the future, if the series is not cancelled.
Fanon[]
Hyoshun is the second most popular ship in Saint Seiya, this is due to the scene in the Libra Temple and only surpassed in popularity by Camilo. It is the most popular ship for both characters. People like it because they think the nurturing nature of Shun blends well with Hyoga's loneliness and guilt over his actions. Many people dear to Hyoga have died because of him, and Shun almost does. There is potential for angst or hurt confort there.
