IchiBlue is the het ship between Deep Blue and Ichigo Momomiya in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom.

Canon

Tokyo Mew Mew (2002)

Deep Blue was Ichigo's enemy before he had even been completely 'born'. He existed as a spirit to instruct the aliens who were trying to kill all of humanity so that they could retake the planet Earth for themselves, and Ichigo was one of five mew mews tasked with using her magical girl powers combined with the DNA of an Iriomote cat to defend humanity and defeat the aliens. Deep Blue regularly ordered the aliens Kish, Tart, and Pie to attack Ichigo and the mew mews with chimera animals. When Ichigo used Mew Aqua and released its bubbles, she unintentionally allowed Kish to bring them to Deep Blue, which caused a silhouette of his body to grow.

Deep Blue later awakened in the body of Ichigo's boyfriend, Masaya Aoyama. Ichigo was distraught that her boyfriend could be her enemy's leader and initially refused to fight him because she did not want to her him. However, Mint and the other mew mews eventually convinced Ichigo to pursue Deep Blue into his lair and battle him. The alien Kish later turned on Deep Blue and sacrificed his life to save Ichigo. Ichigo cried and screamed in despair, which briefly allowed Masaya to regain control of his body, but Deep Blue eventually regained control. Masaya's spirit then appeared to hold down Deep Blue's body so that Ichigo could finish him off.

Tokyo Mew Mew New

Unlike with the previous anime adaptation, Deep Blue did not appear prior to his awakening. He was able to awaken in Masaya Aoyama's body after Kish made the Blue Knight feel like he was unable to protect Ichigo. Ichigo was distraught over her boyfriend being possessed by her enemy's leader and refused to fight him, even turning around to attack the other mew mews when they planned on fighting him. Kish begged Deep Blue to spare Ichigo, as he was in love with her, but he ignored him while Tart and Pie held him back to prevent him from intervening. Ichigo stood still while Deep Blue was charging an attack at her but was saved at the last second by Ryō.

Ichigo later traveled to the alien's hideout and battled against Deep Blue. Kish sacrificed his life to protect Ichigo, and she cried in despair, which allowed Masaya to briefly regain control, and they learned that the Mew Aqua was inside of his body. Deep Blue then regained control and began to strangle Ichigo, but his grip loosened when Masaya attempted to regain control. Ichigo tried to reason with Deep Blue, saying that humans want to protect the earth too, and asked why they had to die for them to accomplish their goal. Masaya's spirit then manifested and he explained how Ichigo helped him smile, and showed Deep Blue a memory of their date at the Red Data Animal exhibit to show that she had a desire to help the environment and endangered animals.

Ichigo begged Masaya to keep working with her to to create a future where the humans and aliens coudl coexist and hugged Deep Blue, as his body was starting to resemble Masaya. As Deep Blue was having a change of heart, Pie snuck up on him and stabbed him to open a portal to the aliens' home world. Ichigo and Masaya then used the Mew Aqua Drops to undo all of the alien's damage and it also made the surface of the alien's world inhabitable. Deep Blue then thanked Ichigo and Pie for disappearing, as he was no longer needed.

Fanon

IchiBlue has a small amount of popularity in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom. It is mostly shipped as an alternative to IchiSaya since Deep Blue and Masaya shared a body and were considered by some to be two aspects of the same person. The anime reboot Tokyo Mew Mew New had a different ending, with Ichigo befriending Deep Blue in the end and convincing him to have a heel-face turn. On AO3, there are 13 works for the pairing. IchiBlue rivals the IchiSaya, Kishigo, and IchiRyo ships.
