Not even the most intransigent of patients can come close to matching his stubbornness. Once he's made his mind up, it's almost impossible to change it. I don't worry about him, though — He has his own way of thinking, and I'm sure he'll manage just fine, no matter what this crazy world throws at him.
—Casually muttered by Ifa as he jotted down a medical report

Ifaron is the slash ship between Ifa and Ororon from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon[]

Ororon is introduced by Ifa on Genshin Impact's promotional tweet[1] for Ororon, in which he describes Ororon's stubbornness while jotting down a medical report, hinting at the possibility of their relationship as doctor and patient. Ifa is also featured in Ororon's second promotional tweet[2], where he is referred to as Ororon's "friend" and "the good doctor Ifa". Their relationship is also brought up a few times throughout the Natlan Archon quest (Act III - Beyond the Smoke and Mirrors & Act IV - Beneath the Secret Source), and through voice-overs by other characters. It is revealed here that they are close friends who often spend time together. Ifa also helps Ororon deliver vegetables as well as messages to Citlali.

Archon Quest[]

Chapter V: Act III - Beyond the Smoke and Mirrors.[]

Ifa is first referred to by Ororon in Part 2 of Act III of the Natlan Archon Quest ("To Whence the Smoke Drifts"). While getting scolded by Citlali for his involvement with the Fatui, Ororon refers to Ifa in a dialogue with the Traveller (if the Traveller chose "Well, it's definitely a little awkward..." in response to Ororon's apology), as "a friend" that he would visit at his house, "only to suddenly hear your friend berating a naughty Saurian". He continues to refer to this friend in singular noun, which in combination with the fact that Ifa is known as a very famous sauro-vet and Ifa's the only friend of Ororon that is referred to on multiple occasions, possibly suggesting that Ifa is the friend being referred to.

Ifa then is first brought up by name by Citlali in Part 2 of Act III of the Natlan Archon Quest ("Beyond the Smoke and Mirrors") when she is chastising Ororon for working with the Fatui. She states that Ororon frequently sent Ifa over to her place to deliver vegetables, to which Paimon speculates that Ifa is a delivery person for Ororon. Citlali then follows up by stating that Ororon and Ifa often hung out together, very frequently to the point Citlali even suggests that they are bad influences for one another.

When drinking with Citlali later on in Part 2, it is hinted that Ifa delivers goods for Ororon regardless of time or place, as Citlali mentioned having been rolling on the floor in her pajamas, but forgetting to lock the door, and "someone" bursts in to deliver cabbages and sees the whole thing. This "someone" can be inferred to be Ifa, based on the fact that there has only been one person charged with the task of delivering goods to Citlali up to this point of the Archon Quest.

Ifa is then brought up once again by Citlali in Part 3 of Act III of Natlan Archon Quest ("The Flickering Light Splits in Twain"). After learning about Capitano's plans with the Secret Source from Chasca and Chuychu, the Traveller meets up with Citlali to discuss Ororon's involvement. During this, Citlali states that she has asked Ifa to deliver a supply bag to Ororon. She continues to confirm that Ororon and Ifa are "very good friends". Here, there are some differences between the EN and CN version of the game. In the EN version, Citlali states, "It just so happens that Ororon is due for a gem replacement. Since I can't get close to him, I put the new gem in a supply bag, and asked Ifa to bring it to him". In CN, Citlali says, "正好到了需要定期更换的时间,既然靠近不了,我干脆把宝石放在物资补给袋里,让来烟谜主助战的伊法帮忙拿给他。". This translates to, "It was just about time for the regular replacement, and since I couldn't get close to him, I simply put the gem in a supply bag and asked Ifa, who came to help the Masters of the Night-Wind, to give it to him". She elaborates with the fact that Ifa did not ask any question, suggesting that Ifa is always willing to help Ororon.

In the same part, while viewing Ororon's memory, the Traveller can see Ororon mentioning Ifa while talking to the radishes and trees that he plants in his garden, stating that Ifa says that one of the trees is taking up too much space. In this memory, Ororon then encounters Okanbi, a Quest-Exclusive NPC from the Flower-Feather Clan, who mentions having run into Ifa the day prior. Ifa told Okanbi that Chasca was fostering a saurian at his place who trampled over part of Ororon's radish garden, suggesting that Ifa and Ororon live in close proximity. Okanbi shares his hope that Ororon and Ifa did not get into a huge fight over this, to which Ororon states that he will find a way for Ifa to make up to him.

Chapter V: Act IV - The Rainbow Destined to Burn.[]

In Part 1 of Act IV of the Natlan Archon Quest ("Beneath the Secret Source"), Ifa is one of the NPCs that appears in Ororon's consciousness when he is struggling to hold onto his soul after being occupied by a Khaenri'ahn soldier. Ifa does not show up in-game, but his voice can be heard asking if Ororon's zoning out outside of Ifa's clinic, teasing that "there's such a thing as overwatering the radishes". Ororon states that he is just looking at the aphids, promping Ifa to ask if there is something interesting about them. Ororon replies that he notices some on the ground, theorizing that they could not handle the cold the previous day, to which Ifa replying with "that mean less honey this year". Ororon then asks Ifa if being a vet is fun, and Ifa answers, saying that he's not sure, and returns the question, asking if Ororon think planting vegetables is fun. Ororon says that it's fun enough, and that he has nothing else to do. Ifa agrees with this, saying that most people live without special purpose or calling, stating that is how the world works, leaving Ororon to theorize that Ifa was too nice to tell him that attempting something above his capabilities would kill him, even though it seems like all Ifa had done was comforting Ororon with the idea that he doesn't need to have some special calling to live. Ifa then asks for Ororon's help with a troublemaking saurian, referring to Ororon as "my man".

In Part 2 of Act IV ("As One We Watch the Setting Sun"), Ororon mentions Ifa while thanking Citlali for having the latter bring him the replacement gem. Citlali responds that he should make sure to thank Ifa as well.

In Part 5 of Act IV ("No One Fights Alone"), Ororon is the first one en route to offer help to the Flower-Feather Clan, Ifa's speculated clan, mirroring Ifa's help at the Masters of the Night-Wind earlier in Act III.

Chapter V: Act V - Incandescent Ode of Resurrection.[]

In Part 2 of Act V of the Natlan Archon Quest ("As the Sun Rises and Sets), after concluding the farewell party at the People of the Springs, Ororon mentioned stopping by Ifa's place to make sure that the latter was taking care of his radishes.

Story Quests[]

Mavuika's Story Quest Chapter: Act I - As the Blazing Sun.[]

Ifa was mentioned by name by Ororon during Mavuika's Story Quest: Sol Invictus Chapter. When approaching Ororon about the preparation for the tournament, Paimon and the Traveller (alongside Mavuika) met Cacucu, an assistant at Ifa's clinic. Ororon mentioned that all sentences that Cacucu repeated over and over were all Ifa's catchphrases. Before moving onto the next stop, if the player chooses to indwell in a Saurian, there are additional dialogues that can be unlocked by talking to Cacucu. During this, Cacucu confirmed what Ororon said, that he picked up the words from hearing Ifa repeat them, and asked the Traveller if they had met Ifa before, before expressing his surprise that the Traveller had yet to meet Ifa.

Cacucu then went on to say that Ifa was always running around and everywhere all at once all the time, and proceeded to correct that he was not a pet, but Ifa's colleague, and asked the Traveller to call him Dr. Cacucu. He then stated that Ifa and Ororon were both his bros, and that just like how much Ajaw whined he could not leave Kinich, no matter how much Ifa complained, Ororon was still his friend. He also mentioned that Ifa said that Cacucu was too familiar with everyone. He then concluded by saying that Ifa's a good guy (who was resigned all the time), and that he would "send my boy bro Ifa" to go help right away.

After completing Mavuika's Story Quest, when talking to Masau, Ororon, and Iansan in post-quest dialogue, Ororon mentioned an onion-cutting incident that happened when he came over to Ifa's house. He recalled Ifa beginning to cry, and the Saurians also beginning to cry, and everyone was crying. When asked if he cried too, Ororon replied that he shielded his eyes with his cloak just in time, but Cacucu and Ifa thought he cried too because they could not see his face.

Flagship Events[]

Tournament of Glory in Bloom[]

Ifa was featured alongside Kachina as the main characters for the Version 5.5's Flagship Event, Tournament of Glory in Bloom. This was his debut as an NPC in Genshin Impact. During this event, Ororon and Ifa worked together alongside the main Natlan cast to resolve a mystery regarding the last Bloomflower Trial.

Promotional Materials[]

For Ororon's promotional material on Genshin Impact's X account, Ifa is the character who introduces him[1]. Ifa is also featured in another promotional post for Ororon[2], in which he is described as "the good doctor Ifa, having grown up [in Natlan]". In this promotional material, upon returning home with Ororon, Ifa notes Ororon's warning about Big Pinecone. He is stated to be no stranger to Ororon's odd way of speaking. He recalls memories of an alpaca named Little Pinecone, which leads him to theorize that this is why Ororon called the tree Big Pinecone. He also notes that the tree is not even a pine tree.

During Ifa's promotional material, Ororon is the one who introduces him as well, where he talks about Ifa taking his honey to make crackers for baby saurians, and hoping that he would remember to left some for him as well.[3]

Character Voicelines[]

“Not even the most intransigent of patients can come close to matching his stubbornness. Once he's made his mind up, it's almost impossible to change it. “Last time Ifa swung by, he picked up two jars of honey. I guess he's making more crackers for baby saurians... Ah, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I just hope he remembers to leave some for me."”
— Ororon's introduction for Ifa's drip-marketing.[4]
“Big Pinecone's roots have gotten a bit out of hand lately, so be careful not to trip.”
— Ororon warning Ifa about Big Pinecone's roots.
“And it's not even a pine tree.”
— Thought Ifa, though he didn't inquire further.

Ifa and Ororon in Ororon's promotional post[2].

“Ifa may scold his patients a lot, but he actually has a great relationship with the saurians. Whenever he has some time off, he'd play the guitar in front of the clinic, and a bunch of saurians would gather around and sing along. Although, it's more like noise than actual singing. I like to join in when I'm around, too... with the saurians, I mean.”
— Ororon's About Ifa
“If two negatives make a positive, then a weirdo in a group of weirdos should just be normal, but Ororon somehow still seems a little off to me. Still, he seems plenty nice as a person. He even had Ifa bring a bunch of fruit and honey to the Children of Echoes, presumably because he thought he had caused too much trouble for us. I had no idea you could get such sweet honey from Phlogiston Aphids, so he must know what he's doing. How can some people be such naturals with plants and animals?”

Quest Dialogue[]

Teyvat storyline Archon Quest Chapter V: Act III. Part 2: To Whence the Smoke Drifts.[]

Paimon“Uh... Why is he staring at us all of a sudden?”
Ororon“...I'm sorry that you have to hear all this.”
(If Traveller chooses this dialogue)Well, it's definitely a little awkward...
Ororon“Indeed. It's like going to visit a friend at his house, only to suddenly hear your friend berating a naughty Saurian...”
Paimon“Well, that's... an oddly specific analogy! Wait, did one of your friends really do that?”
Ororon“Yes. And every time my friend scolded his Saurians, they would look at me the same way you're looking at me now — helpless and embarrassed.”
Paimon“Wait, but you're the one getting your head chewed off! Stop making this about us!”
Ororon“Indeed, you've got a point. Then please just hang in there for a little while longer. Granny should be done with her scolding session soon.”
_
Citlali“You say all the right things, but then you go and completely ignore me. Well, if that's how you're going to treat me, you can stop sending Ifa over to my place to deliver your stupid vegetables. I don't need anything from you.”
Paimon“Who's Ifa? A delivery person?”
Citlali“That's irrelevant! The point is, he hangs out with this kid, so he must be no good. Tsk, you kids get to a certain age and suddenly act like you know it all... There's nothing I can say to get through to you.”
_
Citlali“It's just like when you're rolling on the floor in your pajamas, but you forget to lock the door, and someone bursts in to deliver cabbages and sees the whole thing...”

Citlali“It just so happens that Ororon is due for a gem replacement. Since I can't get close to him, I put the new gem in a supply bag, and asked Ifa to bring it to him.”
Citlali“You guys know Ifa, right? No? Well, he's a pretty famous vet around these parts. He's always bringing me all sorts of things, and he happens to be very good friends with Ororon.”
Citlali“Ifa doesn't know what's going on, so he agreed no questions asked. Ororon would find the gem as soon as he opened the bag. He knows how important it is, so I knew he would make the switch.”
_
Ororon“Look how good you're doing... You'll grow into nice, big radishes in the future.”
Ororon“And you... Ifa says you're taking up too much space, but I think you're a good tree. What do you think?”
_
Okanbi“By the way, I ran into Ifa yesterday. He told me Chasca's fostering a saurian at his place... said the thing trampled over a part of your radish garden. I hope you two didn't get into a huge fight.”
Ororon“No, don't worry. I'll find a way for him to make it up to me.”

Ororon“I was just looking at the aphids.”
Ifa“Something interesting about them today?”
Ororon“I noticed some on the ground. Maybe it got too cold yesterday, and they couldn't handle it.”
Ifa“Bummer. Guess that means less honey this year.”
Ororon“Ifa, do you think being a vet is fun?”
Ifa“Fun? I'm not sure about that. Do you think planting vegetables is fun?”
Ororon“Fun enough, I guess. I don't have anything else to do.”
Ifa“Exactly. Most people live like that — no special purpose or calling. That's just how the world works.”
Ifa “Oh, geez, that troublemaker's at it again... Ororon, my man, come inside and give me a hand, would you?”
Ororon - "Why should I? I thought being a vet was no fun."
Ifa“Well, I guess there is a fun part — trying to outsmart these rascals! C'mon, give me a hand!”

Character Stories[]

“... In reality, Ororon hardly ever drew anything that proved to be particularly useful. His most meaningful and carefully drawn work is the placard in front of Ifa's clinic. The lines are smooth, the colors bright, and— "Since the poor Saurian had his wings wrapped in bandages, I put more thought into that part of the drawing. Though it doesn't take up much of the whole, I used the same amount of ink on him as I did when drawing you." "Sweet," said Ifa, and seeing the sincerity in Ororon's eyes, felt a great sense of calm. "Never seen the real me depicted so accurately before. Really appreciate it, my dear bro."”
— Ororon's Character Story 2
“...He is fully aware of the various reasons why people look out for him. Whether out of sympathy, affection, guilt, or some combination of all three, he's willing to accept it all for what it is. As Ifa would say, social relationships among people are exceedingly complex. Instead of spending time and effort trying to understand their motivations, it's better to focus on their conclusions and actions, and doing so helps avoid a great deal of mental stress. Thus, seeing as people show him such care and affection, he repays them with kindness in return. Yes, it really is that simple. "Good thing I'm a vet," Ifa said, gesticulating. "If I were a doctor who had to treat people, my job would be a lot more complicated..." Ifa went on, seemingly listing off a whole array of strange medical cases, but Ororon's mind soon drifted off. No matter how strange they were, could they really have been stranger than his own? Come to think of... In some sense, I'm a patient too, and one beyond all hope of a cure, Ororon mused. Going a step further, he thought, if one were to focus on his ears — which looked different from the average person's — then surely he too might be considered an ailing animal? Hmm... but then again, perhaps humans too should be considered animals? At this point in his musings, Ororon interrupted Ifa's endless rambling to ask, "If I were sick, should I come to a vet?" Ifa stopped mid-sentence and stared back at him for a long moment. "...You weren't listening to a single thing I said this entire time, were you?" "You can't just avoid questions you don't want to answer by turning them back on me," came Ororon's reply.”
— Ororon's Character Story 3

Fanon[]

The ship began with Ifa being the character to introduce Ororon in his drip-marketing, as well as the character to show up in his secondary drip-marketing. This is cemented with the multitude of mentions during the Archon Quest regarding their friendship by key characters, as well as their voicelines. The two have contrasting designs, with Ororon leaning into a black colour palette with dark blue-black hair, and Ifa using more vibrant colors like cyan and orange. Shippers often remark their constants mentions about eachother and apparent close bond that they have. It's popularity increased when Ifa did his first appereance during 5.5 flagship event. and has grown even more since then. People also noticed their camaraderie and playfulness during 5.6 flagship event, with Ifa and Cacucu accompanying Ororon to Fontaine, and spending their time together such as dicussing their plans (that always ended up with staying in their room watching films during all the night).

After the release of the Natlan Archon Quest, Act III and IV, the ship gained significant popularity due to the equal dynamics between the two. With Ororon being referred to as the resident oddball of the Masters of the Night-Wind (who are in turn oddballs of Natlan), and Ifa being adored by virtually everyone (from the voicelines of at-the-time playable characters, ie. Mualani, Kachina, Kinich, Xilonen), there is an interesting dynamic between Ororon and Ifa regarding how they are received by the Natlanese, and how they treat the other, with Ororon living a life of a hermit yet maintaining strong relationship and contact with Ifa who is very popular amongst the Natlanese as a Sauro-vet (even when he was considered the "traitor" by anyone who is privy to his collaboration with the Fatui in Natlan pre-Act IV).

Fans observe that Ororon adopts a more casual, teasing way of speaking around Ifa, as opposed to the apologetic manners with which he converse with other people, prompting the pair to gain more love amongst fans. Fans also like that Ifa is often mentioned by Citlali, who holds a very close familial relationship with Ororon (with him referring to her as Granny, and her being among the people who raised him in their tribe), during her conversation with Ororon. Ifa's character story and voicelines mentions that he often ended up involved in their granny-grandson drama, and due to this wherever Citlali asks to pass a message for Ororon he would just pass it right on, suggesting a close relationship amongst the three.

Ifa is also shown to visit Ororon's place frequently, mainly shown through Ororon's promotional materials and dialogues from the Archon Quests where Ifa makes various comments regarding the vegetations living in Ororon's yard. And through these, fans also see a sense of closeness and familiarity through the way they are used to each other's presence, living spaces, ways of speaking, and the willingness to help one another in times of need (Ifa delivering goods for Ororon, Ifa helping the Masters of the Night-Wind in battle, Ororon being the first one en route to provide support to the Flower-Feather Clan during the Night Wars, etc...)

Trivia[]

  • In 5.2v1 Ororon Full Kit, beta leak, Ororon's Elemental Skill has him throwing a "Graffiti Bomb". This has lead some fans to theorize that Ororon is the one who drew the sign outside Ifa's clinic. However, 5.2v2 Ororon Full Kit, beta leak has since changed the name "Graffiti Bomb" to "Spirit Oculus". Despite this, it was confirmed that Ororon was the one who drew the placard in front of Ifa's clinic in Ororon's Character Story 2.
  • Ifa and Ororon share similar aspects of their professions and inclinations:
    • Ifa and Ororon share a love and atittude towards animals and living things. This is natural for Ifa due to his profession as a vet. For Ororon, his mannerisms towards the vegetables he grows and the aphids he raises (as mentioned in the Aphid Treasure Trace Event), and some voice-overs in "No One Fights Alone" indicate his appreciation for living things (during which he also tries to save the vegetables and aphids, and is chastised by Citlali for this):
      • Ororon: I'm sorry, I can't bring myself to abandon the vegetables and aphids. They're living things, and every life deserves escape saving.
    • Ifa is a vet/doctor, while Ororon is a member of the Masters of the Night-Wind who specialize in medicine amongst others. This is referred to by Nanse, an open-world NPC located in the Basin of Unnumbered Flames in Natlan. Following certain dialogue branch will have her telling the Traveller that most members of the Masters of the Night-Wind one might bump into in the wild are doctors rushing somewhere for house calls. She then prompts the Traveller to find "a young man wearing a hood out there in the wild," elaborating that "he might sound a tad eccentric when he gets talking, but he's a good person, and I'm sure he'll help you." She is referring to Ororon, and it is reasonable to deduce that Ororon has some proficiency in medicine and healing like his tribespeople.
    • Ororon having some familiarity with medicine is confirmed by the Masters of the Night-Wind bulletin board announcement, where he is referred to as "Explorer Ororon" by Tepano, who states that Ororon is "really into his herbal medicine research". Tepano also advises people who want to know about saurian whelps habit to ask Ororon, suggesting that Ororon knows a lot about saurians. This points towards another similarity between him and Ifa, with how both of them are considered authorities (somewhat) when it comes to saurians.
    • On the last day of the event Iktomi Spiritseeking Scroll, when playing the minigame Restoring Fragmented Records, Stage 7—Clairvoyant Shard: Ororon—the description of the shard describes Ororon as, "A unique young man from the Masters of the Night-Wind, an unconventional character with an extraordinary talent for taking care of plants and animals..." This once again points towards Ororon's affinity for animals, a commonality shared between him and Ifa.
  • Ifa has a saurian companion, Cacucu (referred to as Ifa's brother by NPC Kotimy and Cacucu himself) that can mimic human speech. Ororon's "ABOUT US: Thank-You Gifts" voiceline mentions introducing Cacucu to the Traveller, hinting at the possibility that Ororon is also close to Cacucu. Ororon's SNACK BOX story describes Cacucu as "a real sweet-talker" whose words are "full of emotion — things like, "You're the best, bro!"". This shows that Cacucu has the same speech pattern as Ifa, who often refers to Ororon as "bro" or "my man". And since Cacucu is Ifa's saurian companion, combined with the fact that he mimics human speech, it is possible to infer that the speech he mimics is Ifa's towards Ororon. One could reasonably believe that the way Cacucu speaks to Ororon (sweet, full of emotion) is also how Ifa talks to Ororon.
  • Following certain dialogue branch when talking to NPC Kotimy will reveal that Ororon often helps Ifa (presumably with his work at the clinic).
    • Kotimy: Maybe soon I'll be able to help Ifa out, just like Ororon did!n.
  • Ifa and Ororon were two of the three 4-stars characters featured on the Character Event Wish Banners: La Chanson Cerise and In the Name of the Rosula, which started on May 7th, 2025, and ended on May 27th, 2025.
