Illogical Husbands is the slash ship between Alec Hardy and Bill Masters from the Broadchurch and Masters of Sex fandoms.
Canon[]
Alec Hardy and Bill Masters are the main protagonists their respective TV shows and as a result, have never met each other.
Alec Hardy is a Scottish Detective Inspector in the titular city, Broadchurch, he is short-tempered and overworked, often driving himself into obsession with cases he is often assigned to.
William “Bill” Masters is the titular character in Masters of Sex, fictionalized off the real life doctor. He is an OBGYN Doctor and professional, but expands his work on his usual frowned upon sex research, despite himself being sexually repressed.

The ship started to gain popularity in 2019, right after the release of Prime Video’s Good Omens, where David Tennant and Michael Sheen portray the two main protagonists respectively, mainly due to the fact that the two characters were played by the same actors as that portray Ineffable Husbands (Tennant portraying Hardy and Sheen portraying Masters), and the fact that Hardy and Masters have slightly similar personalities, dynamics and especially relationship problems with their divorced wives.

- Their other ship name, Masters of Crime, is half of the show title 'Masters of Sex' (as well as Bill Masters' name) and 'Crime' being what Alec’s job is based around.
