— Robert and Invisigal during their movie date

InvisiMech is the het ship between Invisigal and Robert Robertson from the Dispatch fandom.

Canon[]

Invisigal was a super villian that becomes a part of the Pheonix Program for rehabilitation. On the other hand, Robert was the former superhero Mecha Man who starts to work at SDN (Superhero Dispatch Network) and will be her teams dispatcher. His choice to start working for SDN comes after his suit exploded which results in him ending up in a coma for a few months, but how exactly the bomb ends on his suit only gets revealed in the later episodes. Their relationship can be affected throughout the various choices that the game offers, and can vary from either Robert being able to romance Invisigal successfully or letting her become a villian.

Episode 2: Onboard[]

The two first meet in the conference room when Robert is ordered by Blonde Blazer to change his clothes, after Invisigal was caught listening in on them when invisible. Blonde Blazer introduces them to each other after the former villian fails at spying on them undetected but she did find out that he's the Mecha Man, though she says that she has no plans on telling his secret to anyone. She makes a remark that Robert is a "washed up dad bod superhero with no superpowers" as her first impression him, and proceeds to leave the room after saying that she finds him hot. Robert also finds out that her former villian name was Invisibitch and figured that the name Invisigal felt corny as her name.

“Well, I'm wet. I see why you like him. Look at that drip. What is that look? Best Buy Fight Club? Fuckin' hot.”
— Invisigal on her first impression of Robert

The next time they indirectly meet is when Robert starts to officially work as a dispatcher and is introduced to Z-Team, a team composed of former super villians that are working for rehabilitation as a part of the Pheonix Program. He introduces himself to the team by his real name, Robert Robertson. While the team laughs at his real name, Invisigal tells the team that she saw him in his underwear and that she liked his bruises.

When eventually all the missions have been completed, suddenly another mission comes up at Granny's Donuts to which Invisigal is eager to go to even though she's banned from the place. Robert connects to the camera at Granny's and the two proceed to have a conversation in which Invisigal asks what donuts Robert likes. After Robert answers her question, he tries to find the perpetrator while Invisigal ponders on what name to give to Robert, after which she settles on Lieutenant Dan. Robert finds the perpretrator in the kitchen, who happens to be Lightningstruck, and tells Invisigal to be quiet as the thief starts to get suspicious of noise outside. Invisigal is confused by Robert's orders but obeys when the thief gets out of the kitchen. They then get into a fight while Robert tries to hack the sprinkler system to help her. Afterwards, Granny wakes up and takes one of Lightningstrucks weaponry while aiming it at the thief. Robert tells Invisigal to take out the thief first but she disobeys his orders and tries to disarm Granny instead, which ends up in Lightningstruck fleeing the place.

“So, where's the perp, Lieutenant?”
— Invisigal to Robert on her mission

After that dispatch, Robert goes on his break and buys a twinkie in the breakroom from the vending machine. Invisigal scares him by hiding invisible behind the vending machine but her greeting gets ignored. She follows him and the two sit at the nearest table to have a conversation about the recent mission at Granny's. It gets heated as it becomes into an argument because Invisigal starts to defends herself for disobeying his order while Robert criticizes her actions. She then proceeds to insult him about his hero past, his suit and him working behind the desk. He answers her by telling her that she wouldn't last a day in the Mecha Man suit because she's a selfish asshole. Invisigal gets offended by that and storms off after becoming invisible, right before she comes back to punch him in the face and then she leaves the room by flipping him off.

Robert, Blonde Blazer and Chase then have a meeting about Roberts first day. When talking to Blonde Blazer and Chase, Robert has the choice to not snitch on Invisigal punching him in the face. The topic of what happened at Granny's also gets brought up, to which Robert has the choice to tell them that it was his fault for the Granny situation, and not that Invisigal should do better. When he gets back into the office, he finds Waterboy cleaning his desk because in his words, some lady brought donuts and smashed them after going crazy. Considering that the type of donut changes based on what Robert has answered Invisigal when she asked about his favorite type of donut, it's clear Waterboy was referring to Invisigal.

Episode 3: Turnover[]

After Robert gets to his work place with Beef, his dog, Blonde Blazer asks him over to have a conversation with her. He learns from her that someone will have to be cut from the team, and that the team knows about this as well. He later goes to see who's low and sees Invisigal at the bottom of the leaderboard with 25 points. Chase comes over to tell him that one of their team members needs help, refering to Invisigal due to her placement in the leaderboard.

Invisigal“Pheonix is also a lame ass band my lame ass roommate listens to.”
Robert“You're late.”
Malevola“I like that band.”
Invisigal“You would. What're you talking about? I was here the whole time. I turn invisible, genius. Remember?”
Robert“Great. Then you know we're cutting someone and you, Miss Hot Topic sale, are at the bottom of the leaderboards.”
—Invisigal and Robert when she's late to the meeting

During the dispatch, because the team knows that one of them will be cut off, the team members try to sabotage each other. As an example, Punch Up can sabotage Invisigal by getting a kid to stalk her with a spy camera. Malevola also tries to do most of the missions while not letting others do them, and later goes to do a mission about a culprit being on the run. However, Invisigal isn't happy with that and instead tries to sabotage her. After they get into a fight by letting Lightningstruck get away, Robert calls them to get to the conference room in 20 minutes.

After the meeting happens, in which Robert also tells Invisigal that she's late and calls her Miss Hot Topic sale, the team goes back to doing missions. Invisigal won't be able to be dispatched as she refuses to go to missions and later leaves the operational range. Robert receives an alert about this and asks where she's going. Connecting to the nearest camera reveals that she's sitting on a swing in a playground while smoking. Invisigal reveals to Robert that she wants to leave the Pheonix program as she's giving up on being a hero because she thinks that she was born to be a villian due to her powers. Robert talks her through and helps her get back on her feet by convincing her to continue in her efforts, with variety in what he says depending on the dialogue choice. He successfully convinces her after he receives an alert that Lightningstruck is only two blocks away from Invisigal, which would help her in her rankings.

Invisigal gets to the jewelry store and takes down two other people that were with Lightningstruck. Shen then hides behind a cover as it's dark in the area while Robert helps her against the suspect, by telling her about his location. Then, he figures out a plan on how to take down Lightningstruck and tells her that he'll turn on the main lights to temporarily blind him, which will help Invisigal greatly. This gives her an advantage and she wins the fight.

Later, Invisigal takes Lightningstruck to SDN's office after he's arrested and Z-Team applauds her in her efforts. Surprised by this, Robert asks why the team aren't being assholes. Blonde Blazer reveals to him that he was actually broadcasting the entire conversation to the entire branch. She then asks him if he was truthful in his words, which will vary depending on the dialogue choice, as he can either say he didn't mean it or that he does truly believe in her. They then have a conversation in her office room about who will be cut off from the team and Roberts learns that Invisigal moved up from her last place, which secures her place in the team.

After Robert cuts off either Sonar or Coupé from the team, he goes back to the office to converse with Chase. As they were planning on leaving, they see Invisigal checking the leaderboard. When the leaderboard updates her to having moved up in placements, she is happy about it and takes a picture of the results. Then, she turns around only to find Robert and Chase looking at her, which makes her flustered and she goes invisible. However, she comes back to pat Beef and thanks Robert before leaving again, which makes Robert smile.

Episode 4: Restructure[]

The episode starts off with Invisigal having sexual intercourse with Robert, just for her to wake up to find out it was a dream. Throughout the day she ends up having weird interactions with Robert, such as staring at him in the office when using the printer. After Robert tests the mech suit and he looks at the blueprints, Invisigal becomes visible and gives him an updown. Robert questions her but is met with no answer from her. She then asks him on whether he jerks off in the mech suit and whatever option of dialogue is chosen, they give each other a stare before Royd comments about their weird energy before he gets back to work. Robert answers her that he can do this all day long, to which she tells him that she was actually supposed to get him half an hour ago per Blonde Blazer's request. He leaves her while she gives him an updown again.

“You two got one weird energy going on, huh? Can you handle dis HR violation some uda place? I got work, yeah?”
— Royd about Robert and Invisigal

Later, Robert is seen in the bathroom picking the shrapnel off his chest after his conversation with Phenomaman. Invisigal suddenly appears behind him out of thin air and tells him that she had a dream about him. Robert figures this is why she was acting weird the entire day. Invisigal then says that she imagines being with someone like trying on a dress, making a clear reference to him helping Blonde Blazer with her dress. This makes Robert question her about spying on them right before she gets very close to him by saying that she could be anywhere. However, their moment gets disrupted as Waterboy makes himself known from one of the stalls. Robert tells her that she's not supposed to be doing whatever that she is doing, after which she leaves in anger as she yells that Waterboy ruined this for her.

At the end of the day when Robert gets back to his computer, he notices that Invisigal is still on the clock sitting in the movie theatre. He asks her what movie she's going to be watching and whether she's going to be alone. She tells him about how much she misses popcorn and how she goes to the movies alone because she feels bad when asking people to pay. Robert will then get a notification from Blonde Blazer who invites him to dinner. This will prompt a decision between going to dinner with Blonde Blazer or watching the movies with Invisigal.

Choosing to go with Invisigal to the movies will have Robert ask her to give him a summary of what the first movie in the series is about. While she gives him a long recap, he surprises her as he gets to the movie theatre with popcorn and some snacks. Confused at this ordeal, Invisigal asks whether this is a team building exercise or that they are friends. Robert can answer in a few different ways, but no matter the choice she ends up saying that she hasn't decided on whether they're friends yet. They end the conversation on Invisigal commenting that their date is nice after which Robert offers Invisigal Sour Patch Kids, while the episode ends on the two watching the movie.

Invisigal“This is--”
Robert“Do you like-- You first.”
Invisigal“This is nice. What were you gonna say?”
Robert“Do you like Sour Patch Kids?”
Invisigal“I fuckin love Sour Patch Kids.”
Robert“Cool. Me too.”

Songs[]

Rob and Courtney | Andrew Arcadi
An official Dispatch soundtrack that is dedicated to Robert and Invisigal. The name of the soundtrack is named after them by using their real names.
Radio | Bershy
The song that plays during Episode 6 when Z-Team holds a party at Roberts house. It is heavily associated with InvisiMech because Invisigal will dance with Robert while the song plays when doing her romance route. A lot of edits use it to show their relationship, as the lyrics are most likely about how Invisigal feels about Robert due to her actual feelings towards him. As well as, a smaller detail to point towards this is that Invisigal was the one to turn on this song for the party.
“Then I met you and my eyes changed
And now you're in my eye range, I'm gunning for you”
“You changed my heart in a big way
Now everyday's a celebration and I wanna say”
“When you're around, it's already alright
Already alright, like a radio”
“I'm tuning into you
(I'm tuning into you)”
“You're turning me on
(You're turning me on)”

Fanon[]

InvisiMech is one of the most popular ships in the Dispatch fandom. They are shipped due to their chemistry and the available choice to romance Invisigal. The two are constantly compared to TV Girl due to their colour palettes consisting of pink and blue, resembling the blue and pink figures from the Who Really Cares album cover.

The ship took off before the game even released as in the reveal trailer for Dispatch, many viewers took note of the tension between Robert and Invisigal, with a number of people correctly theorizing that she'd play a vital role in the story. Upon the release of the game, many players and fans praised the dynamic between Robert and Courtney, praising how realistic and engaging their dynamic is, with others noting how Robert encouraged Invisigal when she was on the verge of quitting the Z-Team. The ship's popularity rose even more due to the beginning of Episode 4 when Courtney had a wet dream about her and Robert, thus confirming she has feelings for him.

Another big appeal to the ship is their unsuspected linked history that gets revealed later in the story. Before Episodes 7 and 8 dropped, there was a theory that Invisigal was the one to plant the bomb on Robert's Mecha Man suit at the start of the story due to her ability to become invisible, as it would make the job of planting the bomb easier. Because this was proven to be correct and Invisigal is able to become a villian, this has opened more ways for fans to explore their relationship outside of the best ending for them. An appeal to this comes from Forbidden Love because in this scenario, Invisigal and Robert would be on opposite ends, a villian and a hero, while still harbouring feelings for each other. In fan works that follow Invisigal's bad ending, it's not uncommon to have the two end up in a Secret Relationship as a continuation for what would happen post-canon.

However, the ship would get under scrutiny by those who strongly dislike Invisigal or for her route writing, as people often complain how she acts like an "edgy teen" despite being in her late 20s. Others dislike the route for their distaste on what can be described as Invisigal sexually harassing Robert at the work place, which would later spark more arguments on due to some comments that she makes throughout the game. This would only fuel the flames even more when Episode 7 dropped with a specific interaction of Invisigal going invisible and giving Robert a surprise kiss, which for players not pursuing her route could see this as Invisigal sexually assaulting Robert in the locker room. Though, it is to be noted that this scene doesn't happen in every playthrough hence why there's a debate over the kiss.

The ships main rival ship is MechBlaze due to Blonde Blazer having her own romance route in the game. Because they are the only options in the game that the player is able to romance, there are constant debates on who is better to romance out of the two. However, it's not uncommon to see all three characters being shipped together in a polymarous relationship instead.

On AO3, InvisiMech is currently the most popular ship for both Robert and Courtney, with there currently being over 130 works. It's also the most written ship in the Dispatch fandom in general.
