ItaShi is the slash ship between Itachi Uchiha and Shisui Uchiha from the Naruto fandom.
Canon[]
Shisui served as a mentor figure to Itachi. Shisui met Itachi when the latter was only five years old while the former was a genin, about one year after the war ended and Shisui's previous best friend had been killed in front of him. Itachi began to look up to Shisui, and they formed a brother-like relationship. The two would often spar together during their downtime. Shisui gained a lot of attention since the time he was a genin, and Itachi proved to be a prodigy as he graduated from the academy at age seven.
As Shisui and Itachi grew up, the Uchiha Clan began to plan a coup d'état on the village of Konohagakure by overthrowing the hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, which was led by Itachi's father, Fugaku Uchiha. Shisui and Itachi were both privy to this plan but where more loyal to the village than their own clan and decided to tell Hiruzen about the planned coup. The original plan was for Shisui to mind-control Fugaku into stopping the coup, but Danzō Shimura ruined this plan because he believed it would be insufficient.
Danzō decided to steal Shisui's eyes for his sharingan and managed to steal his right eye before he escaped. Shisui accepted that he could not stop the attempted revolt and met with Itachi. He wrote a suicide note, ripped out his remaining Sharingan and gave it to Itachi, who would later implant it on one of his crows. Shisui then committed suicide in a manner that disposed of his own corpse. This caused Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan to activate, which Shisui had hoped would happen.
Itachi was accused of murdering Shisui the following day, as it was pointed out that he could have used his Sharingan to copy his handwriting, and Itachi remained calm upon hearing the 'news' about Shisui's death and being questioned about it. Itachi later took on Shisui's role of stopping the coup by killing every member of the Uchiha Clan, including his own parents, except for his younger brother, Sasuke, and Obito who was secretly still alive as Tobi. Itachi would die to an illness several years later, joining Shisui in death.

ItaShi is a popular ship in the Naruto fandom. It is one of the most popular ships involving Itachi, and it is also the most popular ship involving Shisui. While some have an issue with their age difference, it is not known exactly how far apart in age they are. ItaShi fans ship Itachi and Shisui together due to their close friendship and the fact that Shisui's death activated Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan. On AO3, there are over 1.6K works for the pairing. ItaShi rivals the Kisaita, ItaDei, ItaSaku, and OroIta pairings.
