Alear“Princess Ivy, please accept this ring as a token of my favor. [...] There is no one I would rather have by my side. You are the one I feel closest to. [...] You opened your heart to me, Ivy. It's only fair I return the favor”
Ivy“That's true. Very well. In that case, I accept. [...] I feel so much closer to you. A bond with the Divine Dragon is more than I ever dared hope for. Thank you.”
— Alear and Ivy after the proposal with the Pact Ring.

Ivlear is the non-binary ship between Alear and Ivy from the Fire Emblem fandom.

Canon[]

Alear is a Divine Dragon who once saved Elyos from the Fell Dragon, Sombron, with the help of the Hero Emblems. Said character can be male or female as the player chooses. They are a former enemy of Ivy, the first Princess of Elusia and the daughter of Hyacinth.

Ivy worships in secret the Divine Dragon species, mostly Alear, as an act of defiance to her fellow Elusian people, who worship the Fell Dragon. She can become the S-rank partner of either gender Alear if the player chooses to give her the Pact Ring.

Fire Emblem Engage[]

Alear and Ivy meet for the first time in the middle of the war, when Alear themself was in their quest to reclaim the Emblem Rings. She had orders from her father, the King Hyacynth to steal the rings. To accomplish that, Ivy used Leif's ring in the siege of Brodia Castle. With the siege failed, Hyacinth refused to give Ivy another ring and forced her to fight Alear's forces, so he could complete the sacrifice of King Morion from Brodia to revive Sombron. Alear's forces defeat Ivy and she begs to be killed personally by Alear, but they convince her that her father abandoned her to die by the nature of his order and they have no reason to kill her.

Afterwards, with King Hyacynth's death at the hands of the revived Sombron, Ivy defects to Alear's group and she decides to help Alear to defeat their enemies until they reach Elusia and defeat Sombron.

After the war, Alear becomes the king of Lythos and later, of the entire Elyos continent, while Ivy becomes the crown Queen of Elusia, restoring the peace and improving the diplomacy with the Brodian kingdom.

C-A support[]

Alear notices that something is happening with Ivy. At Ivy's question, Alear answers that he/she doesn't require anything to make Ivy remain near them. Ivy asks Alear that they should be free to ignore her, but he/she admit that it's difficult to ignore Ivy's anger. Alear notices something different on Ivy, but she feels uncomfortable, as she has no social skills. Ivy decides to leave Alear for now and worship them from afar. After this dialogue, Alear notices Ivy's preference for the Divine Dragons instead of her fellow Elusians' preference for the Fell Dragon.

Some time later, Ivy seems more comfortable towards Alear. When Alear allows Ivy to tell anything that she feels, Ivy tells explicitly that she loves Alear, but clarifying that not in a romantic way, further reinforcing Ivy's religious worshipping towards Alear as the Divine Dragon.

Further in the third dialogue, Alear and Ivy talk about her detailed reasons about worshipping a Divine Dragon and about Ivy's mother. Ivy reveals that the only thing that kept her from despair is her faith on the Divine Dragon. Alear is grateful for helping her, even indirectly.

S Support and Pact Ring[]

In order to give Ivy their pact ring, Alear made a plan to take Ivy to a hidden place where they would perfectly be alone. Ivy starts to have some strange feelings, which make her blush when Alear is finally with her, alone and together. There, Alear gives Ivy their Pact Ring. Ivy couldn't think that worshipping Alear the Divine Dragon would turn into a romance. When Ivy says that if the Ring is really for her, Alear says that no one else have deeper bonds than with her. Given this case, Ivy gratefully accepts it.

If they end together, Alear becomes the Divine Dragon Monarch and therefore, it's implied that they become the consort King or Queen of Elusia. Ivy worked alongside them to restore Elusia and further showed devotion to her faith in Alear, fostering it in all Elusia.

Fire Emblem Heroes[]

Ivy has 2 versions of herself in the Fire Emblem gacha game. The Summer version of her talks about watching Alear from afar, while the Attuned version of her brings up wanting to be at female Alear's side and feeling safe when Alear is around in her Forging Bonds event. In Ivy's S-support conversation during the "Thaw of Knowledge" Forging Bonds event, both versions of Ivy fight over who gets to have Alear by their side during the party - to which, Alear laughs and says how at least one more version of her will show up later.

This joke was continued in FEH's online manga called A Day in the Life, where both the Attuned and the Summer versions of Ivy fought with each other over who got to spend time with female Alear.

Fanon[]

Ivlear is currently one of the most popular ships in the Fire Emblem Engage fandom and the most popular pairing for female Alear, though Ivy/Male Alear also exists. Though initially assumed to be cold and cruel based on her first appearance, many fans fell in love with her when she revealed a somber and later dorky, awkward side; this has made her one of the most popular S-support partners for either gender of Alear, rivaling only Yunaka as the most popular female character.

Ivlear is one the most written ship on A03 alongside Alflear.

An "AleIvy Week" was hosted on August 15 - 21, 2023, where fans created and shared fanworks for the female version of the ship based on a different prompt each day.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In the Japanese version of the script, Ivy's S-support is noted to be more romantic in nature than in the English localized version.[2][3]
