Jaficent is the het ship between Jafar and Maleficent from the Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty fandoms.

Canon

Being from two different Disney movies, Jafar and Maleficent never met in canon. However, the two have met in multiple unofficial Disney media, such Kingdom Hearts, House of Mouse, Descendants and Mirrorverse.

House of Mouse

In Season 2, Episode 8 of Disney's House of Mouse, "Max’s Embarrassing Date", Mickey Mouse comments that he sees several first dates in the audience. Among them are Jafar and Maleficent. Jafar tries to flirt with a rather disinterested Maleficent only for her to fry both him and his parrot companion Iago with magic from her staff. She places her hand on her collar and smiles afterwards with Diablo the raven cawing. Iago then sarcastically tells Jafar, "Real smooth, Prince Charming."

While the two later participate in the Mickey's House of Villains Halloween special, they never interact directly. In fact, Maleficent (in her dragon form) and Chernabog from Fantasia are shown to appear mutual affection towards one another during the "It's Our House Now" musical number.

Kingdom Hearts

Both are also recurring antagonists in the Kingdom Hearts series. After Maleficent began her conquest of the worlds, in the first Kingdom Hearts game, Jafar became one of her allies in her ring of villains, appearing to be her second-in-command. He then uses Heartless given to him by her to take over Agrabah. The two have also served as bosses in a few of the same games.

Behind the Scenes

According to the Aladdin, Platinum Edition DVD, animation supervisor Andreas Deja based Jafar's design and on-screen presence partially on Maleficent. The two are also occasionally seen together in a number of cross-promotional artworks.

Fanon

Though they hail from different movies, Maleficent and Jafar share a number of similarities which could attract people to ship them together. Both are evil, scheming sorcerers dressed in black robes who use magic to cause trouble for their settings' respective royal families and nearly kill their princesses (Aurora and Jasmine). Both also assume monstrous reptilian forms during their final battles, are stabbed by the prince character (Phillip and Aladdin)--shedding blood in the process--and ultimately defeated by the protagonists aided by good magic. Both also have bird companions, with Maleficent having the raven Diablo and Jafar having the company of his parrot Iago.

Overall, it is a pretty common crossover ship within the Disney fandom. It is rivaled against some other Disney Villains ships such Hadeficent. Though there are 8 works on AO3, the ship has a good amount of fanarts and fanvids.

Trivia

• In the Descendants series, Maleficent's daughter Mal is friends with Jafar's son Jay. Th two trapped villains being allies has Maleficent approve this friendship.
• Although the two appear in the Once Upon A Time series, their paths don't cross. With Maleficent being part of the main series, while Jafar is of its Wonderland spinoff.
