- —Jakurai to Ramuda in “When Six Colors Combine, " " Begins”
Jakuramu is the slash ship between Jakurai Jinguji and Ramuda Amemura from the Hypnosis Mic fandom.
Canon[]
Jakurai and Ramuda are foils of one another with contrasting beliefs and personalities. Formerly, they were apart of Kujaku Posse, and Ramuda taught Jakurai how to rap from the ground up while Jakurai remained his only intimate friend and partner, an older and mature presence in his life that showed him sympathy and care.

Jakurai happy to see the real Ramuda
When Jakurai’s hospital was taken hostage, he met Ramuda who entered and watched Jakurai use his hitman skillset and take down the intruders. Jakurai initially found Ramuda to be an interesting and strange young boy, but he immediately saw through his facade. Eventually, they had ended up teaming together as the Dirty Dawg, and they both respected each other’s talent immensely while Ramuda trained Jakurai in rapping. Notably, Jakurai was one of the few who understood Ramuda, telling him to be himself, explaining he couldn’t bear to see Ramuda out on a fake show. When Ramuda exploded at him for these words, Jakurai instead consoled him saying he was glad to see the real Ramuda for a split second. Even though Ramuda created their duo from the Party of Words, as they spent a long time together.
After Ramuda put Yotsutsuji in a coma, Jakurai had faced off with Ramuda and won the battle. From then on, after Ichiro and Samatoki’s situation the Dirty Dawg disbanded and Jakurai was unable to forgive Ramuda since. Ramuda detested Jakurai for the intimate relationship they once had and how he felt a genuine care for him. Moreover, Ramuda hated himself and felt immense guilt for putting Yotsutsuji in a coma and later would reveal he didn’t want to exist for the things he put everyone through.
Years after, Jakurai would always sigh and remember his time with Ramuda fondly, lamenting a fallen friendship and remembering Ramuda’s smile. When facing off in the Division Rap Battles, the two would reunite with Ramuda scoffing and calling Jakurai "old coot" while Jakurai would angrily reprimand Ramuda on his manners. Hifumi and Doppo would comment that Jakurai was only irate and tense around Ramuda and found this odd, while Jakurai later opened up about how he plans to forgive Ramuda even after all he did. Although Jakurai revealed that he deeply cares for Ramuda and decided to work his hardest to save his life, he still claims his dislike and irritation towards him.
TDD / DOD[]
After Ramuda wipes out the forces with barely a single verse, Jakurai is startled and profoundly thanks Ramuda for saving the hospital staff. With a friendly attitude the two exchange pleasantries, but Jakurai then asks Ramuda if he can teach him how to rap. Ramuda agrees fervently and comments that Jakurai would be a great MC.
Later, Jakurai and Ramuda are at the Haneda Airport with Yotsutsuji. Ramuda praises Jakurai’s newfound skill, eliciting his thanks. When Ramuda heads off to take a call from Ichijiku, Jakurai muses on how interesting Ramuda is, suspecting something off about him. Nevertheless, Ramuda returns to the two and fibs he was on a “spicy love call” with a lady. Foreshadowing, Ramuda tells Jakurai it may be time for him to show his skill. With their duo Kujaku Posse formed, Ramuda would frequently visit Jakurai’s place and hang around with him and Yotsutsuji.
Once arriving to witness Ichiro and Samatoki fight to free the hostages, Ramuda childishly turns to the Stairway to Heaven and announces that Jakurai will give them a time-out. With Ramuda’s signal, Jakurai performs “The Wave” and later stands beside Ramuda to fight alongside. After winning the short battle, Ramuda darkens and begins to contemplate the Party of Words’ plan before Jakurai takes note of his drastic shift in attitude. Ramuda grabs Jakurai’s arm before he asks what’s wrong, pulling him close then asking Ichiro and Samatoki to join them as a team.
At some point during the TDD/DOD era, Ramuda notes that Jakurai was rather interested in horror movies and asks to learn more about haunted things. Jakurai agrees to start an expedition where they visit an old haunted tunnel and a horror movie. Jakurai would notice Ramuda’s sudden fear and assure him the stories were all fake, as well as scolding his rude behavior of talking during the performance they watched As they drove home the car broke down, letting Jakurai take Ramuda to a nearby hotel. They slept in separate rooms, and Ramuda had to use the bathroom and goes out alone. He begins to sweat, terrified as he recalls the horror story. Eventually he runs off frantically after a sleepwalking Jakurai grabs Ramuda by the shoulder, appearing like a ghost. Jakurai was unaware of the incident and found Ramuda’s fear anmusing. On the other hand, Ramuda remained traumatized, scared of ghosts and unknowing that the figure was Jakurai to the present day, disliking anything haunted, much to Gentaro and Dice’s confusion.
After Mad Comic Dialogue gets in the way of the future the Dirty Dawg, Ramuda works behind the scenes further, still donning his facade and barely fooling Jakurai. Eventually, while they’re sat in a couch, Jakurai tells Ramuda that he can be natural around him—to this, Ramuda questions his statement and fakes a lack of understanding, and when further elaborated he explodes in anger. Jakurai is startled by the outburst and Ramuda quickly covers it up by calling himself an idiot and childishly hitting himself on the head. Jakurai is still suspicious but chooses to trust Ramuda, reenforcing that he can be his true self around him. Jakurai and Ramuda got along well as they grew closer to Samatoki and Ichiro, thwarting many threats and winning legendary battles together. Jakurai had gained a lot of experience during his relationship with Ramuda and appreciated the former’s liveliness.
However, their fall-out began the more Yotsutsuji suspected Ramuda, and the day eventually comes when Ramuda puts him in a comatose state, aware of Yotsutsuji’s status as Jakurai’s adjacent son. Jakurai is heartbroken and struggling to carry on before he reads Yotsutsuji’s email he sent before his coma regarding Ramuda. Wordlessly, upon finding out the truth, Jakurai sets off to confront Ramuda, deeply distraught over Ramuda’s true identity.
At the roof of his office, Ramuda remains dormant and silent while aware of the Dirty Dawg’s annihilation. Jakurai approaches from behind and calls his name, demanding an answer to Yotsutsuji’s state. Ramuda plays dumb and acts shocked at his coma, before Jakurai declares how evident it is that Ramuda was involved. Ramuda childishly responds saying there’s no proof, to which Jakurai explains the email showed him Ramuda’s secret. Ramuda’s expression falls short and he smiles, leading Jakurai to understand the gravity of the situation.
Jakurai asks why an artificial entity like Ramuda would ever approach him, and to this Ramuda twitches at the phrasing Jakurai used on him. Jakurai takes out his hypnosis mic, and Ramuda childishly calks him name, “Ja-ku-rai” before exploding in fury. Ramuda asks what kind of right being a human gives, angered as he asks what Jakurai even knows about his past. Ramuda remains glaring furiously. The scene later switches from Ichiro and Samatok back to Ramuda and Jakurai, drenched in rain and tireless from their battle. Ramuda raps out another verse, rendering Jakurai on the ground and barely conscious. Jakurai grips his mic and stands up, invigorated by the memory of Yotsutsuji as Ramuda taunts Jakurai of his battered state. Jakurai uses his healing ability, and Ramuda is stunned before sent flying back. Ramuda attempts to get up but is prevented by his wounds, and Jakurai stands above him and declares he’s now the winner. Though, the battle prolongs as Ramuda screams he won’t lose, before proving his fakery as he jumps off the balcony to flee the scene. Jakurai collapses and mourns how the situation came to this, before Ramuda recovers in an alleyway, furious and determined to never lose against Jakurai again, angered that he was called an entity.
Present Day[]
Even with all of Jakurai’s hatred, when he believes Ramuda to be dead, he jumps to resuscitate him in a hurry, showing his sympathy towards Ramuda despite not forgiving him. Jakurai also notices Ramuda’s genuine and authentic behavior around Ramuda and Dice during their battles. Jakurai tries to understand Ramuda’s perspective and states that he must’ve had his own reasons for why he put Yotsutsuji in a coma. In the first DRB Ramuda is hesitancy at to hurt Jakurai from Ichijiku and Otome’s orders, and nevertheless chooses to ignore them and instead enjoy the battle and fight with all his might.
After the first DRB, while on a fishing trip with Matenro, Jakurai describes his goal to forgive Ramuda even after everything he did. Jakurai explained that Ramuda must’ve had his own reasons and displayed his sympathy for him.
- Ramuda – “You’re…you’re going to forgive me?”
- Jakurai – “Of course I am.”
After the 2nd DRB, Jakurai shows his genuine emotion towards Ramuda and reveals he feels sympathy for him, while Ramuda still shows his hatred towards Jakurai, refusing to believe any of his words. After the fight against Ramuda’s clones, Ramuda has began to apologize, crying as he expressed his guilt for hurting Yotsutsuji the years beforehand. Jakurai gladly accepted his apology and felt sympathy for him, explaining the experiences they shared were invaluable and that he’d stop at nothing to save Ramuda. Nevertheless, their confrontation ends in Jakurai inadvertently insulting Ramuda’s height and telling him to respect his elders, making him mad and turn away from him. Ramuda then threatens Jakurai to keep his stay alert at night, with Jakurai returning the words before they storm off, huffing.
Fanon[]
This section is in need of major improvement. Please help improve this article by editing it.
This ship is controversial because of the 11-year age gap between Jakurai and Ramuda. As a result, the fanbase is split with some people viewing Jakuramu as a father-son relationship, or simply romantically. Fans critique how Ramuda viewed Jakurai as a father figure and are generally against the idea of a romantic relationship between them, but shippers find their intimacy and estrangement interesting.
The ship is still extremely popular and one of the top written ships for the Hypnosis Mic fandom on AO3. Generally, Jakurai’s regret and reminiscence on his relationship with Ramuda has been interpreted to be romantic. Jakuramu is sometimes shipped alongside Samaichi and is somewhat a rival of Hanaramu because of the parallels between them and Jakuramu.
