Canon[]
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)[]
Jack and Sally are both citizens of Halloween Town, Jack is treated like a celebrity by the citizens due to being the very spirit of Halloween, Sally is just one of many creations of Dr. Finklestein. Though Jack knows her personally and treats her cordially, Sally is often just admiring Jack from afar, never allowed to approach him due to a tight grip her father/creator has on her.
However, when she manages to escape on the Halloween of 1993, she just happens to bear witness of Jack singing lamentably at himself, confessing to nobody in particular how horribly trapped he feels in his role and deeply desires to take a break of celebrating Halloween every year. Sally can deeply relate to that, soon enough, she finds herself back in her father's clutches.
While Sally is occupied trying to escape from her father yet again, Jack meanwhile had a soul-searching journey in a strange place called "Christmas Town". Coming back to Halloween Town like some tourist coming home from a vacation, he had brought the citizens of Halloween Town some souvenirs and orders the mayor to command a town meeting immediately. Sally bears witness to Jack's demonstration of various Christmas trinkets that Jack misinterprets in comedic ways, but soon enough, Finklestein finds out that she snuck out yet again and gives her house arrest.
However, when Jack comes by to discuss trying to explain Christmas properly, Sally listens in on their discussion. When Jack leaves, Sally had caught a feeling of deep yearning, prepares a small gift basket for her beloved and jumps out the window to deliver it to him without Finklestein noticing. Jack receives the basket very well, but when he turns to thank Sally for her gesture, Sally had disappeared. Hiding behind a brick wall from the world, Sally picks a flower only to recieve a horrible vision of a Christmas tree burning up in flames. Sally woke up the next morning when Jack gave orders to every citizen to work together on one big project: making their own version of Christmas for the year.
When it's Sally's turn to hear Jack's ideas for her, he generously assigns her the task of sewing his santa (or "Sandy Claws") costume, knowing very well that Sally is a skilled seamstress as she is always sewing her bodyparts back together when they fall off. Sally tries to tell him of her suspicion that taking over Christmas is a bad idea that could potentially lead to disaster. However, Jack barely listens, believing her prophecies of disaster to be signs of her low self-esteem and talks her up to no avail.
Regardless, Sally complies with Jack's wishes and sews him a form-fitting Santa costume, including everything except the hat. On Christmas Eve, Sally tries to tell him that she likes him the way he is and that he shouldn't try to be someone else to make himself happy, but Jack once again blows her off, fully convinced that nothing could go wrong. Sally watches as Jack takes the hat from a kidnapped Santa and realizes that Jack has gone too far. Determined to stop Jack, she steals some of her father's fog juice to ruin the weather and make lift off for the skeleton sled impossible, not accounting for Jack's ghost dog Zero being able to light the way anyway. When Jack leaves and Sally tells him goodbye, she has laments of her own, believing that maybe she's not "the one" for Jack after all, seeing as he barely notices her.
However, when Sally watches Jack's gift-giving session go awry, with nobody else being remotely concerned about Jack being sought after by the police, Sally decides to take matters into her own hands. She finds out where Lock, Shock and Barrel had kidnapped the real Santa Claus, they brought him into the lair of the villainous Oogie Boogie, and tries to help Jack by distracting Oogie and saving Santa so he could fix everything. However, Sally is found out and stapped to the same contraption that Oogie used to torture Santa. With news of Jack's supposed demise making the rounds, Oogie has no reason not to kill the two of them right away, but Jack had actually survived and had the same idea as Sally. He saves the two of them right out of Oogie's sight and then challenges the villain to a fight, managing to quickly kill him by pulling on the strings of his burlap sack and allowing his insect-made body beneath to fall apart.
When Jack formally apologizes to Santa, the old elf himself tells Jack that next time Jack tries something like this, he should listen to Sally. When Santa leaves the two lovebirds alone to fix the mess, Jack finally acknowledges Sally, astonished at her cleverness and willingness to help him. However, they are interrupted by the arrival of the mayor (having been lead to the lair by the trio), who is ecstatic to see Jack alive and gives the two of them a ride back in town.
Though Jack bathes in the adoration of the citizens once again, seeing Finklestein with his new bride has him realize that he left Sally alone once again. Sally had settled on the spiral hill that Jack knows all to well, believing once again that she's simply not meant to be with Jack. Jack however surprises her, asking to join her. Realizing the full extent of their feelings for one another, the two of them share a kiss in the moonlight.

Fanon[]
Jally is the main ship of the Nightmare Before Christmas fandom. Fan sequels about them having children are incredibly common, those who want them to have biological children often headcanon Jack to be a monster that just resembles a skeleton, rather than a "true" undead. Those often tend to look like a mixture of both of their anatomies, for whatever reason, the fandom exclusively portrays fankids as female.
