Attitude Meets Dread[]
Jabber jumpscares Zanka
Zanka first meets Jabber shortly after defeating a group of Raiders. Zanka declares he could’ve taken them all out in one hit if they hadn’t used such annoying tactics. Just then, Jabber sneaks up behind him with a smirk, casually remarking that the same could be said about him. Their battle occurs offscreen, with Jabber emerging as the winner. He wins by injecting poison from his right claw into Zanka’s neck.
Later, Rudo, Gris, and Follo arrive at the scene. Gris demands to know where Zanka is, but Jabber ignores him, keeping his focus on Rudo. When Rudo angrily asks what he did with him, Jabber casually replies, “Ooh! You mean the guy with the bad attitude? Don’t worry, I’m real nice to guys who look tough. I just put him to sleep.” He then tries to reassure Rudo that he didn’t kill him though he admits that the poison might’ve been “a little too strong for him.” As an out of control, unconscious Jabber battles Rudo, an angry Zanka makes a surprise appearance, hurling his staff to pin Jabber down. He asks what makes Jabber think he can mess with Rudo when he hasn’t even beaten him properly yet. He tells Rudo to step aside and that it’s his turn to fight this punk. He tells Rudo in a conversation that he can’t move properly thanks to the poison from “Mr. DreadHead”, he sarcastically calls Jabber. As the out of control Jabber attacks Rudo and Zanka, Zanka recalls his earlier defeat and mutters that Jabber’s claws are really starting to piss him off.

Rudo and Zanka clash with Jabber a few times, fighting side by side in an effort to bring him down. Just as they’re about to land the final blow, Jabber suddenly regains his senses and return to his normal self. The first thing he sees is Zanka and he smirks, “Hey, it’s Mr. Bad Attitude!!”. Without hesitation, Zanka lands a blow that knocks Jabber out cold. Zanka worried about Rudo, is concerned and thinks that he has been pricked by Jabber’s claws. But Jabber, ever unpredictable, pricks himself to reawaken and cheerfully springs back to life. He notes he was having too much fun and comments that even unconscious, he gave both Zanka and Rudo a hard time. Zanka, still on the ground and stunned, asks how Jabber managed to get up after their intense fight.

Jabber leans down close and simply says, “My left claws.” When Zanka, still baffled, asks if he has healing abilities, Jabber laughs it off. “NO WAY!!!!,” he says. “My left claws when used responsibly, they make the pain go away♪.” Jabber admits that he didn't expect to lose so badly, crediting both Rudo and Zanka for beating him down. He adds that the poison should wear off in about thirty minutes for Zanka. He stabs Zanka with poison again. With that, Jabber turns to leave, carrying an unconscious Rudo. As he walks away, he waves with a grin and calls back, “See you later, Mr. Bad Attitude!.” Zanka, still lying there, watches him go with a furious glare.

They meet a second time when Jabber shows up to fight Zanka. As Zanka prepares to attack, he calls out Jabber’s name, while Jabber remarks that it has been a long time since he last saw him. He still refers to Zanka as “Mr. Bad Attitude” and grows excited at the prospect of their battle. Zanka thinks he should strike first before Jabber can and launches his attack. Jabber smiles in response. After sparring for a few minutes, Jabber gets curious and looks at the strange liquid that is bubbling around all over the place. He shouts out after touching it. Zanka is visibly shocked and starts wondering about what happened to his claws. Jabber explains that he gets bored easily and all of the new stuff gets recreated in his left claw. He wonders how long Zanka can dodge the liquid and throws it at him, although Zanka doesn't budge. He exclaims that he can still move after getting hit by the junk and it's better than getting crap on his uniform. Zanka flips the rock over and states that Jabber put him in a crappy mood. After this, Jabber is nowhere to be seen, but he isn't fooled by his act and tells him to show himself.

Zanka gets shocked at the realization that he beat him, but rethinks this idea, because a tenacious guy like Jabber wouldn't go down that easily. The latter starts laughing and muttering about how it's been so long since he has inflicted the real him on someone. Zanka starts questioning if this is real and then he finds out that Jabber has been holding back this entire time.
- “Hey, hey. Zanka, my friend. You can go all out now, too. You weren't giving it everything you've got either, were you? Swinging that stick around can't be your only power, can it? Hey, hey. Lets fight for real.”

Jabber tells Zanka that he doesn't have to hide it anymore and states that he's just like him. He informs him that he has been fighting with guys who are tougher than him and he has to hold back his powers, so normal guys can beat him. The former says that the thing that energizes him the most is fighting and never winning. Jabber is excited at the thought of finding someone other than the boss who can wipe the floor with him. After laughing for a bit, Jabber tells him that when he's with him he's free and Cleaners and Raiders don't matter now. He tells him to show him the brutality hidden inside of him. Zanka sighs and looks down. He starts thinking about how he's all out of tricks and how Jabber is one of the geniuses. He questions how they expect him to beat a guy like that and says that he has seen people, who pretend to be holding back to look stronger than the others. Zanka says that beating the geniuses is satisfying, since everywhere he goes, it's all the same.
After fighting for a while, Jabber points out the fact that all Zanka is doing is dodging. Jabber informs Zanka about his next move and tells him to make sure he doesn't die. Jabber yells out “Stormy weather!” and Zanka barely manages to endure the attack. Jabber is surprised by Zanka holding his claw with his teeth and exclaims that he's a fighter.

The latter yells out that he can't die until he proves himself and breaks Jabber's ribs. He yells at and calls Zanka a sadist, since he both broke his ribs and punched it at the same time. Jabber laughs and says that he knew Zanka had something up his sleeve and tells him to show him more of the good stuff. Zanka tells him he shouldn't worry, because even though he is an average joe, he will reach his level. He manages to punch Jabber with his leg, but that just gives Jabber the upper hand, since he is cut by his left claw moments later.
- “Awww. You ran into my left claws. When I'm in my “real” mode, my left claws... Can use up to three of my most recent poisons. Poison to make you lose all feeling. Poison to give you a venomenalously good time. And... The gluburblous poison I picked up a minute ago... Wait. Wasn't this supposed to be better than getting poop on you? Reeeally?”

Zanka has flashbacks about his past and wakes up from his trance-like state, becoming more confident and telling Jabber that he can't die until he proves that he's worthy. He states that he is going to show him the powers of an average joe. And when it seems like Zanka is going to win, it is later revealed that everything that happened was in his mind and it was because of a hallucinogenic toxin Jabber infected him with.

Jabber starts singing after he realizes he has won the fight and along the lines, he says that his very favourite is venomenal hallucinogen.
- “Well? How is it? Figured I might as well dose you with all of 'em! But it's dope, right? That venomenal one!! I got it from a guy who was trying to kill me with it. The hallucinations are so vivid you'd think they're real. And the intense nausea that hits you afterward man, it's addictive!!”

Jabber starts telling an unconscious Zanka that his ribs are killing him and after break your rib, laughing gets to be a hassle. He later claims that Zanka knew that and most people know that. He states that he thought if he fought him, he would get a more savage fight and says in disbelief that he can't believe it's already over. Jabber tells him that maybe he could have had more fun if he fought a different cleaner. All of a sudden, Zanka starts giggling and Jabber notices it, saying: “Oh? Oohh? You are having fun! A lot of fun! Hold on! Just a- That's not fair! I wanna have fun too! Here goes!.”

Jabber lays down next to Zanka and they laugh for a while, until Jabber tells him that it's about time they end their fun. He asks Zanka if he's ready to be made into a trash beast offering. Jabber starts praising himself for doing such a good job and thinks about getting the reward from his boss, while slowly dragging the smiling Zanka away.

- Despite having the chance to kill Zanka, he instead chose to put him to sleep. He mentions the reason was because he is real nice to guys who look tough.
- During his fight with Rudo, Jabber mentions guys with a lot of fight in them and powerful givers are his two favorite things which are traits that fits Zanka.
- Jabber is shown praising Zanka by saying he worked him over better than he expected in the English dub of the anime.

Janka is the most popular ship within the fandom besides AmoRudo. Many fans refer to them as Toxic Yaoi. Most treat Janka as more of a joke or meme ship, finding their interactions hilarious and entertaining especially Zanka’s sass clashing with Jabber’s psychotic nature during their fights and headcanon them as a toxic situationship. Others ship it a bit more seriously, noting the interesting and chaotic chemistry between the two. Since they are enemies it hasn’t stopped fans from creating numerous fanarts, depicting them as friends, enemies to lovers, and imagining countless “what if” scenarios and AUs for them. Jabber is sometimes portrayed as clingy or playful with Zanka in fanart. Jabber’s jumpscare of Zanka is also well known among fans. Urana made a drawing of the scene featuring a happy Zanka after episode five release with fans responding with memes based on the moment. Their fight was also the main highlight of episode seven. Fanon Interpretation[]

A few fans view Janka as problematic due to Jabber being 18 and Zanka 17, despite the small one year age gap between them. However, others argue that the age difference is minimal. Others view Janka as a controversial ship, since their only interactions take place during their fights which leads some fans to dislike it. Since they are unlikely to become canon in the eyes of most fans, many see no issue with shipping them and consider it harmless to enjoy the ship in either a romantic or friendship light. Some fans also think Jabber might be into Zanka based on his reactions during their fights. One thing fans noticed was Jabber biting his lip while staring at Zanka in chapter 47. In episode 11, Zanka said: “Sometimes the people we want to kill, are the ones we love.” Which fans interpreted as a Janka reference, due to Zanka's desire to kill him.
