Nico is the first of the Greek demigods to meet Jason, after he arrives at Camp Jupiter presenting himself as a Son of Pluto. Some time later, Nico is kidnapped by a pair of giants and stuffed into a jar. Jason is one of the demigods that helps to rescue Nico, and once they are safe Nico joins the rest of The Seven on the Argo II. The group head to the Athena Parthanos to rescue Annabeth Chase, but instead have to watch on as she and Percy Jackson fall into Tartarus. Jason feels guilty over this, believing he could have done more to save them, but Nico comforts him and talks him out of his guilt.

Jason and Nico grow closer during the events of "The House of Hades". The two decide to pair up to search for the scepter of Diocletian. Jason picks up Nico so they can fly, which bothers Nico as he does not like being touched. The duo head underground where they meet Favonius, who begins to taunt Nico over his romantic feelings. Jason assumes that Favonius is talking about Annabeth, as he has noticed that Nico is increasingly awkward around her. However Cupid soon arrives and joins in on the taunting, forcing Nico to out himself and reveal that his real romantic feelings were for Percy. Nico is upset and doesn't want the rest of The Seven to know, but Jason promises that all of them would stand by his side and protect him from anyone who taunted him for his sexuality. Jason tells Nico that what he just did was the bravest thing that Jason has ever seen.

The Trials of Apollo

As a child of the Lord of the Dead, Nico senses Jason's death. When Apollo and Meg return to Camp Half-Blood he asks them about Jason's death, which they confirm. Nico was seemingly still holding out hope that his feelings were wrong, as this confirmation causes him to run away from the conversation. Later, Apollo asks if Nico has thought about bringing Jason back to life. Nico admits that he has, but says that doing so would invalidate Jason's sacrifice. He can also tell that Jason has gone to a better place, although he cannot know for sure if that is the Elysium Fields or if Jason chose rebirth.

The Sun and the Star

Nico still thinks often about Jason, and it is clear that his death is still weighing heavily on Nico's shoulders. The death of Jason appears often in the nightmares that torment Nico.

Fanon

Jasico is a popular ship in the Camp Half-Blood series, first booming into popularity after the release of "The House of Hades". Fans enjoyed the relationship presented between the two, especially the support that Jason showed for Nico when he was outed by Cupid. Jasico is commonly seen as a replacement ship for Percico, although its biggest rival is the canonical Solangelo relationship.

Some fans view the relationship between Jason and Nico as strictly brotherly. This is partially due to the age difference between them, with Nico being 13-14 when they first meet and Jason being 15-16. Others view them as cousins as their parents are Hades and Jupiter (Zeus), respectively.

There are currently over 1500 works for Jasico on AO3, and over 800 works for the platonic version of this pairing. It is the ninth most popular ship in the fandom, but is only the third most popular ship for both Jason and Nico.
