Ribbit and Rip it[]
When Jennifer Walters is approached by Eugene, the son of a wealthy client to her law firm who wishes to sue the manufacturer behind a superhero suit that was provided to him which according to Eugene malfunctioned, is asked to take him on as a client. Jennifer agrees to this though eventually becomes distressed upon discovering that the manufacturer she will be going up against is none other than Luke Jacobson who she had hired herself several days ago to commission several specially designed outfits that could effectively sustain the transformation into a Hulk Form without suffering any damage. Jennifer attempts to back out of the case but finds herself unable to due to the nature of Eugene being related to an important associate that her law firm wouldn't want to upset. Upon going to visit Luke in person to discuss the trial and attempting to strike a deal with him, quickly offends him when he learns that Jennifer from his services. Luke then quickly contacts one of his previous customers for legal representation, being the New York vigilante Matt Murdock, who Luke had made several superhero suits for in the past thus making him owed a favour, and who also happened to be a highly gifted lawyer.
On the day of the trial, Murdock arrives late to the courtroom and jokingly quips about not being able to find parking due to being blind before quickly opening to dismiss the release of Luke's client list, deeming it irrelevant to which Jennifer questions the audience on who this person is in response. Jennifer and Matt quickly begin to bicker back and fourth as the trial further progresses, with Matt arguing that the anonymity of Luke's clients is a crucial matter as unlike Jennifer, most superhero's cannot opt for public identities as it puts their loved ones at risk. Using his enhanced sense of smell, Matt is secretly able to deduce that Eugene had been using jet fuel to power his suit which violates the instructions that had been provided to him and upon asking Eugene, causes him to foolishly confess all of this himself thus exposing Eugene which quickly causes the case to be dismissed. After winning his case, Matt leaves to grab a drink at a bar before he would need to return back to New York the next day where Jennifer also coincidentally heads to. Matt buys her a drink as a peace offering between them in the aftermath of the heated trial and the two quickly begin to get along. Jennifer upon hearing that Matt was a former customer of Luke, tells him that his clothes don't look fashionable enough to have been made by such a talented individual, unaware that Luke was providing for Matt's Daredevil persona, but Matt simply jokes about making fun of a blind man's clothes. They begin to discuss their experiences as lawyers, with Jennifer expressing her guilt on solely representing big clients and not being given the opportunity to pursue pro-bono work like Matt does to genuinely help people, with Matt providing some insight to her on how the unique situation she's in as both a lawyer and superhero could work with Jennifer being able to help people as a lawyer when society fails them and her life as She-Hulk could help those when the law fails them. Matt's phone then begins to ring with him excusing himself from the table to answer it, with Jennifer expressing to the audience on the developing feelings she was beginning to have for him. When Matt returns, Jennifer offers to get them a round of drinks to which he apologetically informs her that he needs to leave as something urgent had come up, though telling her that it was nice meeting her.
Upon arriving back at her apartment later that night, Jennifer receives a call from a panicked Eugene telling her that he's being attacked and requesting immediate help, to which Jennifer then quickly leaves to help him in response and finally donning the superhero outfit Luke had gifted her. Arriving at a car park rooftop, Jennifer encounters the man that had been in pursuit of Eugene who was sporting a red and yellow devil costume, telling Jennifer to back off to which she rebuffs. Eugene manages to eventually escape his attacker as Jennifer begins to engage with him in a fight who swiftly manages to evade each of her attacks before attempting to chase after Eugene's speeding car on foot. Before he can fully make chase, Jennifer uses the thunderclap that Bruce had taught her to send the devil crashing into a nearby car and effectively incapacitating him. Jennifer then lifts the man up by his collar and removes his mask, revealing it to have been Matt. Returning to her human form, Jennifer asks Matt why he was attacking her client to which he explains that Eugene had kidnapped and taken Luke hostage with the two then teaming up to take Eugene down.
Matt and Jen then track Eugene down to his hideout where he and his gang are forcing Luke to design another suit for him. Matt discusses tactics with Jen with this being her first ever outing as a superhero, and Matt upon being told that his ability to hear the heartbeats of the people inside the building sounds far-fetched, tells Jen that he can hear her heartbeat and it's beating rather fast, to which she skittishly denies. Matt then infiltrates the building and manages to take down several of Eugene's men, and before bracing to fight a large oncoming group of Eugene's soldiers, is interrupted by Jen who crashes down from the ceiling in her She-Hulk form onto them. They then fight the rest of Eugene's men together with Eugene's questioning of Daredevil's apparent high knowledge in the law making Matt say he's simply just a fan of legal dramas to which Jen states to the audience that "he's really doing it for her." After Luke is saved and Eugene is taken into custody, Jen and Matt have a conversation on the rooftop where Matt offers her to a dinner date when he's in Los Angeles again, with Jen suggesting they simply just skip all of that. They then go to Walters' apartment and have sex, with Matt leaving for New York in the morning.
Whose Show Is This?[]
As all the storylines within the show begin to clash into one another, Jennifer bursts out into the real world to discuss with the writers room of her show why the finale was written as sloppily as it was, before leaving to speak with Kevin despite the protests of the security personnel. There, she is greeted by K.E.V.I.N. an artificial intelligent brain responsible for every decision within Marvel Studios. Jen expresses her disappoint of the writing decisions of the show to the android and convinces him to alter it in order to result in a more satisfying conclusion to Jennifer's character arc, with one of the demands she lists being to bring Daredevil back due to her own personal needs, also stating that like her cousin smashes buildings, Jennifer instead smashes fourth walls and bad endings, before adding Matt Murdock to her list. With the finale now rewritten to fit Jen's requests, Matt returns to California to assist Jen before being told by her that he had arrived too late and had missed the action, but also that she was happy to see him again regardless, with Matt expressing the same. Matt then decides to stay another week in California and spends time with Jen and her family at a barbecue, where he's asked by her father about his financial stability due to it being heavily expensive when it comes to raising children in Los Angeles. Matt then remarks on the eccentricity of Jennifer's family upon seeing Bruce Banner and his son.
Fanon[]
Due to the nature of both characters being prominent Marvel Heroes who also operate as lawyers, the pairing between Matt and Jennifer already had a fair level of traction behind it before it was made canon in her Disney+ Show. People found the chemistry between Charlie Cox and Tatiana Maslany to be a highlight to the episode and were pleasantly surprised by the meaning behind Matt loving Jen for who she was as an actual human with it being a common theme in the show that up until then people were only attracted to Jen while she was in her Hulk Form and showed little to no care for the person underneath it all.
On AO3, it's the most written ship for Jen.
