Feixiao“The healer does not heal himself. Don't try to act tough in front of me.”
Jiaoqiu“...”
Feixiao“... I'm sorry, Jiaoqiu. I didn't expect you to use poison that way. What a miscalculation. If only I'd found you sooner... If only I hadn't sent you to The Shackling Prison...”
Jiaoqiu“The way you're speaking, is this really the Feixiao I know? Or could it be a borisin assassin, imitating your voice to take my life?”
— Conversation at the end of A Fugue From Beyond between Feixiao and Jiaoqiu

Jiaofei is the het ship between Jiaoqiu and Feixiao from the Honkai: Star Rail fandom.

Canon[]

Jiaoqiu and Feixiao first crossed paths on the battlefield during a devastating conflict. Jiaoqiu, a foxian healer born into a prestigious family within the Alchemy Commission, had joined the military to aid those afflicted by the horrors of war. Feixiao, a former Borisin war slave who had risen to become the revered "Merlin's Claw," was renowned for her martial prowess and her role as the right hand of General Yueyu.

During the chaos of the battle, Jiaoqiu witnessed the destruction of Abominations of Abundance and the tragic deaths of Xianzhou Legion members who were unable to retreat in time. Amidst the carnage, Feixiao risked her life to rescue her fellow soldiers. In a selfless act, Jiaoqiu used the last of his strength to save Feixiao from certain death, collapsing as the annihilating wave of light engulfed them.

After this traumatic experience, Jiaoqiu left the military, his heart broken and his purpose lost. He withdrew from medicine entirely, opening Rainsoar Eatery, where he channeled his alchemical expertise into creating spicy dishes instead of healing remedies. His retreat from the world seemed permanent until an elder visited him, bringing news of Feixiao, who had since risen to the position of General of the Yaoqing. The elder urged Jiaoqiu to return to his role as a healer —not for the masses, but for Feixiao, who now bore the burden of the Moon Rage affliction and required his expertise to remain functional on the battlefield. Despite his initial resistance, Jiaoqiu was moved by the elder's words, which framed this opportunity as a chance for Feixiao to heal Jiaoqiu's despondent heart as much as he could heal her body. Their canon relationship is rooted in mutual salvation. Jiaoqiu provides Feixiao with the medical care necessary to sustain her role as General, while Feixiao reignites Jiaoqiu’s sense of purpose, showing him that his efforts are not in vain.

After accepting the elder's request, Jiaoqiu became Feixiao’s personal healer, dedicated to managing her Moon Rage affliction. This condition, worsened from her relentless battles against the Abominations, threatened to consume her entirely. Jiaoqiu saw this as his ultimate challenge —not only as a healer but as someone who had once turned away from his purpose. Beyond his medical expertise, Jiaoqiu also took on the role of Feixiao’s chef, using his alchemical knowledge to craft meals that both sustained her in battle and alleviated her symptoms. His creations, often infused with intense spiciness, became a unique form of therapy.

Jiaoqiu’s influence in Feixiao’s life extended even further when he became her Counselor for war. Despite his initial reluctance to return to the battlefield, Jiaoqiu proved to be an invaluable strategist, helping Feixiao navigate the complexities of leadership while maintaining her humanity amidst the horrors of war. Jiaoqiu confessed his resolve: he could not die until he found a way to cure her Moon Rage. This vow became the foundation of their bond, a mutual promise to protect each other against the weight of their respective burdens. Feixiao’s trust in Jiaoqiu grew, not only as her healer and counselor but as a partner who shared in her struggles.

Jiaoqiu“General, with all due respect, if everything were as normal, these reports of yours would be sheer nonsense. You and I both know that the consequences of Moon Rage are becoming more frequent and pronounced. All I can do is try my best to slow it down.”
Feixiao“So?”
Jiaoqiu“But it is all just a matter of time. I fear that, in the future, you will completely lose yourself, never to...”
Feixiao“You are responsible for 'curing' me, and I am responsible for 'curing' war. We promised that we would both give our all to these roles.”
Feixiao's Character Story IV

The Quieting of Quillons[]

Feixiao meets Jiaoqiu on the seaside after his meeting with General Jing Yuan. She inquires about his impressions, and he notes that while the Wardance demonstrates strength, it risks disorder due to the influx of attendees. Despite his discomfort with being in the limelight, Jiaoqiu shares his observations, to which Feixiao retorts with her typical frankness, urging him to adapt to her methods. The conversation shifts to Feixiao's condition. Jiaoqiu learns that even the famed Healer Lady couldn't help her and reaffirms his promise to find a cure. Feixiao, however, downplays her chances of recovery, expressing her resolve to continue dedicating her life to hunting Abominations, as her true enemy is herself. As the discussion lightens, Moze humorously asks about dinner plans, and Feixiao leaves them to decide, heading off to meet an old war friend.

“Don't worry. I'll fulfill my promise and find a way to cure you. Actually, I've found some leads.”
— Jiaoqiu
“Well, life and death, Jiaoqiu, it's all predetermined.”
— Feixiao

Inquisition to Rectitude & Rogues on the Run[]

At Feixiao’s command, Jiaoqiu accompanies Moze to apprehend Hoolay, an infamous war beast criminal notorious for its strength and cunning. The mission takes them deep into the heart of a high-security prison designed to contain such dangerous individuals. However, despite their precautions, Hoolay manages to break free, plunging the situation into chaos. In the ensuing struggle, Jiaoqiu is taken hostage by Hoolay, who exploits the prison's defenses to keep Feixiao locked out and unable to intervene. Trapped and vulnerable, Jiaoqiu must rely on his wit and resilience to survive while Feixiao works desperately from the outside to regain access and rescue him.

“Just look at you! Fallen so low during my absence! You're even negotiating with livestock? As far as I recall, no one from the Yaoqing would ever consider a deal with Duran's offspring.”
— Hoolay
“I've got to... make this beast stay here... whether it's for the sake of Feixiao or the Yaoqing...”
— Jiaoqiu

At Dawn, To War[]

In a desperate bid to buy time, Jiaoqiu willingly makes himself bait, drawing Hoolay’s focus away and prolonging the standoff. Despite the imminent danger, he maintains his composure, relying on his sharp mind and unshakable trust in Feixiao. Meanwhile, Feixiao, locked out of direct engagement, seizes the opportunity Jiaoqiu creates.

“Jiaoqiu always said I'm the most impatient person among the Cloud Knights, and I can't argue with that. So there's no reason for you to be more anxious than me.”
— Feixiao

A Web of Pasts Rewoven[]

Falling into the hands of the borisin, Jiaoqiu is trying to find a chance to survive... but it is not his own chance that he seeks.

While Jiaoqiu remains in Hoolay's capture, he is thinking of a way to utilize this chance to help Feixiao, whether by finding a cure for her Moon Rage or assisting in eliminating Hoolay.

Alone In Peril[]

“The Cloud Knights must have been aware of the situation inside The Shackling Prison for some time. Will General Feixiao personally lead a squad to capture Hoolay?”
— Jiaoqiu

Having fallen into the clutches of Hoolay and their Borisin allies, Jiaoqiu finds himself at their mercy. Trapped in this perilous situation, he uses his cunning to stall for time, attempting to outwit his captors and create an opening for Feixiao to strike. Jiaoqiu’s quick thinking becomes his weapon. As he navigates the dangerous dynamics of his captors, he begins to observe patterns and weaknesses, pondering whether this encounter might reveal not only a way to escape but also a crucial insight into curing Feixiao’s Moon Rage affliction.

The Red Warcry[]

“The hunt is not over yet. Stay safe, Jiaoqiu...”
— Feixiao

Feixiao confronts a captured Borisin soldier during her hunt for Hoolay, revealing her complex history as a former war slave in the "fallen territories" controlled by the Borisin. The interrogation unveils a calculated strategy: Feixiao allowed one of the wolf troopers to escape, knowing he would lead the Cloud Knights to Hoolay's hideout. This moment sheds light on Feixiao’s past, where foxians like her were treated as expendable tools in the Borisin's war efforts. Despite enduring such horrors, she has risen to become the spearhead of the Xianzhou Yaoqing, wielding her harrowing experiences to outmaneuver her enemies. Meanwhile, Moze reports that Jiaoqiu, held hostage by Hoolay, is using his intellect to stall for time and signaling for Moze to remain hidden. Feixiao, fully trusting her healer’s resourcefulness, vows to reach him in time. As she observes her prey, Feixiao reflects on the Borisin's hunting tactics and their twisted satisfaction in tormenting their victims.

Jiaofei first meeting

Jiaoqiu meeting a dying Feixiao on the battlefield.

In a crucial flashback, Jiaoqiu is called into action during a desperate moment on the battlefield. Feixiao, gravely injured from her brutal fighting, pleads for his help, urging the healer to save her life. As the chaos of war intensifies, Jiaoqiu faces a tough choice between the front line and his loyalty to General Yueyu. A Cloud Knight informs him that Yueyu is staying behind to protect the Cloudpeer Telescope, and Jiaoqiu must focus on the injured soldier —the fierce and unstoppable Feixiao, whose fighting style has left her body in a state of near collapse. With urgency and determination, Jiaoqiu orders an immediate operation.

“Loud and clear... Get me some Tumbledust! We've got to start the operation right now! I... I will bring her back!”
— Jiaoqiu

In the present, Hoolay taunts Jiaoqiu, revealing how Feixiao's borisin bloodline influenced her brutal strength in battle and ultimately led her to sacrifice herself for others. Hoolay’s words paint a grim picture of Feixiao's eventual downfall, where her immense power will ultimately consume her, turning her into a monster. Despite the cruelty of these words, Jiaoqiu stands firm, revealing his own painful realizations about death, sacrifice, and the meaning behind his actions as a healer. He confesses that despite all his efforts to save those who have died, their sacrifices hold value, and that even Hoolay’s death will serve a purpose —to help bring peace and cure Feixiao.

Comrade in Arms[]

“Jiaoqiu, this is an order! Cure me!”
— Feixiao

In a flashback, Feixiao asks Jiaoqiu for help after he saved her life. She inquires if he can cure her Moon Rage, the curse that intensifies with each battle, threatening to tear her apart. Jiaoqiu, though sympathetic, warns her not to return to the battlefield. He is deeply concerned for her, but Feixiao, embodying a warrior's resolve, argues that their sacrifices are for the greater good, and that her death, like the others’, would not be in vain. She reminds Jiaoqiu that the warriors who fought and died, including General Yueyu, did so to allow others to survive.

Jiaoqiu poisoned

Jiaoqiu under the effects of the Tumbledust poison to help Feixiao defeat Hoolay, even at the potential cost of his own life.

In the present, Jiaoqiu faces Hoolay, and reveals a secret strategy. Before Hoolay drank his blood, Jiaoqiu had already ingested Tumbledust, a potent poison. The poison will gradually weaken him, and in turn, Hoolay, who drank Jiaoqiu's blood, will soon begin to feel the effects. Jiaoqiu knows that by sacrificing himself, he will buy Feixiao time to face and defeat Hoolay. His life is now in the hands of the poison, but he takes solace in the fact that this final act will ensure that Feixiao and the Yaoqing have a fighting chance. Despite the inevitability of his death, he remains determined, having kept his promise to Feixiao to fight for her victory —even at the potential cost of his own life.

“I will do my best to cure you... Feixiao, I kept my promise. At the cost of this insignificant life...”
— Jiaoqiu

A Fugue From Beyond[]

“The sound of those footsteps... They must belong to General Feixiao. Out and about despite the doctor's orders?”
— Jiaoqiu
“What a coincidence! Someone else who refuses to listen to the doctor's orders.”
— Feixiao

Jiaoqiu, now blind and weakened by the poison he ingested earlier, still possesses his sharp awareness of the world around him. He recognizes the sound of footsteps approaching and identifies them as belonging to General Feixiao, who is out and about despite the doctor’s orders. Feixiao, in turn, notes Jiaoqiu's own disregard for medical advice. Feixiao expresses remorse for the way Jiaoqiu used the poison and wishes she had been able to find him sooner, regretting her past decisions, such as sending him to The Shackling Prison. Jiaoqiu, ever sarcastic but composed, questions if the person before him is truly Feixiao, jesting that it could be a borisin assassin in disguise. Despite his blindness, Jiaoqiu is still very much aware of his surroundings, taking comfort in his ability to hear the sound of the waves, though he also remains deeply concerned about Feixiao’s condition. She tries to blame herself for what happened to him, but he does not let her, quickly shifting the topic.

The conversation turns to Feixiao’s consumption of the Crimson Moon and whether it’s affecting her. While Feixiao claims not to feel any changes, she admits that the doubts she once had have faded. Jiaoqiu expresses that, despite his own suffering, he’s at peace with what he’s done and the sacrifices made and doesn’t hold any grievances. Feixiao, unsure of how to comfort Jiaoqiu, pledges to find someone who can heal his blindness, stating that an eye for an eye is her way of offering solace.

The discussion shifts to the larger threat at hand, with Jiaoqiu urging Feixiao to share her ideas. Feixiao reveals that the rising chaos involving the Sanctus Medicus and the borisin is a distraction orchestrated by an unseen enemy, meant to divide their forces. She vows to lead the Verdant Knights into battle upon their return to the Yaoqing, promising to take down a Lord Ravager and teach the Ruin Legion the true meaning of The Hunt.

Jiaoqiu, knowing Feixiao's nature well, responds with a knowing remark, commenting on her impatience.

Trivia[]

  • Feixiao and Jiaoqiu have an official KFC collab together sponsored by Hoyoverse.
    • During a promotional video for the collab, Jiaoqiu thanks Feixiao for her "passionate performance," and also tells her to "remember to do the work piled on her desk." To which she sneezes ( a common CN trope when someone is mentioned is for them to sneeze ) and he smirks after.
  • From September 10th to October 9th in 2024, there was an official Gong Yuan Ma La Tang hotpot collab with Feixiao and Jiaoqiu.
  • The original Japanese text of Jiaoqiu's line to Feixiao was: "…波の音も、あなたの鼓動もはっきりと聞こえています。それで十分ですよ。" which translates to "...I can still hear the sound of the waves and your heartbeat clearly. That's enough for me."
    • It was later changed to match the other languages, with the line now being, "... I can still clearly hear the sound of the waves. That's enough for me."
  • In an animated video by Hoyoverse, Jiaoqiu can be seen managing Feixiao's daily routine and schedule, and keeping her on time for things. They appear to communicate often through the day.
    • During a shot in this video, after Feixiao leaps into the air, Jiaoqiu is seen to have been standing directly behind her, sending her off to her duties.
  • Jiaoqiu is the special guest during Feixiao's Keeping up with Star Rail video.
    • Some notable lines from the video are:
      • "After all, a cook who doesn't want to be a doctor isn't fit to be a general's loyal retainer."
      • "Ah, I see. So that's why the general insisted that I come out of retirement."
      • "The general is the pillar of the army, not only because of her steadfast courage but also her understanding that warfare hinges on collaboration."
      • "With such inhuman might, there's not much left for us strategists to do."
      • "It would make my life a lot easier if she could spare a thought for her doctor before charging into enemy lines."
      • "She, too, will bring victory to the people."
  • Jiaoqiu's Downed and Return to Battle voicelines both mention Feixiao, the former is "I'm sorry... General... " In reference to not being able to cure her before his death, and the latter, "I cannot rest until my wish is fulfilled." In reference to his wish of curing her of her Moon Rage, he will not let himself fall.
  • After completing A Fugue From Beyond, Lingsha's Something to Share voiceline mentions both Feixiao and Jiaoqiu, in reference to only him being able to cure her: "I am not able to cure the illness that General Feixiao suffers from. That doctor Jiaoqiu, though, might have some tricks up his sleeve... He is the best at this."
  • Their Character Story III moments match each other; Jiaoqiu's POV is of him saving Feixiao on the battlefield and losing consciousness, and Feixiao's POV is of the moment she was running around to grab survivors, until she too also lost consciousness.
  • Moze's About Jiaoqiu voiceline mentions Jiaoqiu and Feixiao together: "He says the general is his patient, but I think the general is actually his doctor."
  • There is a readable that can be found in the game, which describes Jiaoqiu's special consumable prescriptions he made specifically for Feixiao's ailments. Some lines he writes in it about her are:
    • "The general has been ill for a long time — her qi and blood circulation is irregular, and she is prone to irritation. She also suffers exhaustion from years of battle, internal bleeding and vascular and qi obstructions. She requires long-term care and must take this decoction every ten days. Avoid spicy food during this time and make sure to eat dinner."
    • "The general's extreme speed can easily disturb her mental state. Therefore, as well as treating her eyes, there should be supplementary drugs provided to calm her mind and soothe her will. Use 5 mace of jujube seeds, 3 mace of polygala, and 1 mace of licorice root to brew a cold complementary medicinal tea."
    • "The root of the general's condition is an extended overdraft of her own vitality. Toxins within her muscles have not been dispersed, leading to muscular damage and breakdown. We must rely on food supplements to cleanse the toxins in her blood and repair her muscles and bones."
  • During Honkai: Star Rail's second anniversary event, in the 'Astral Tales,' Jiaoqiu mentions Feixiao during what seems to be an idle musing to himself as he is tasting tea in the city:
    • "To heal and save a life is not unlike pushing a boulder uphill - Both are futile efforts in the end. General Feixiao wishes to cure my despondent heart, but I still find myself lamenting from time to time ... I knew it. Blandness takes away even the joy of having tea."
