- Hmph, as it stands, Jing Yuan has promised to nominate me to the generalship on 122 separate occasions. For 121 of them, I made my case and he replied with a nonchalant "mm-hmm." The one other time, I spoke at length on my reasoning and watched him gradually fall asleep...

Jing Yuan and Fu Xuan are both characters from the Xianzhou Luofu, with both of them possessing high positions within their respective fields. Jing Yuan is the General of the Xianzhou Luofu while Fu Xuan is the Master Diviner of the Divination Commission. They are both members of the Six Charioteers.
They have somewhat similar pasts regarding escaping their supposed path. In Jing Yuan's Character Story: Part III, he was supposed to work in the Realm Keeping Commission just like his parents but instead, he ended up joining the Cloud Knights to escape a life of boredom. Fu Xuan, on the other hand, was supposed to succeed her master in the Xianzhou Yuque but because of the prophecy that she would eventually cause his death, she ended up escaping and fleeing to the Xianzhou Luofu. However, their decisions both ended in a self-fulfilling prophecy as Jing Yuan had picked the sword when he was a baby rather than the mantle, while Fu Xuan's master ended up dying because of her plan.
Their history dates back to the war with the Denizens of Abundance. In Fu Xuan's Character Story: Part IV, Fu Xuan came up with a plan to call upon the Reignbow Arbiter's power to defeat them. When she told him of her plan, he merely nodded and asked how they would do such a plan, despite the risk of accumulating casualties. Fu Xuan told him that she was willing to be on the front lines to execute it, to which he responded that the Six Charioteers should work together and that she did not have the permission to manipulate the device. Moreover, he told her that should the plan go awry, he would take all responsibility as the one who made that decision.
In Jing Yuan's Character Story: Part I, he and Fu Xuan were playing starchess, in which he tries to distract her with questions about the origins of starchess. Fu Xuan responds that she has foreseen his next 48 moves, and that he should stop distracting her with questions. In the end, Jing Yuan won and Fu Xuan, in disbelief, asks to see that move again. Jing Yuan merely explains to her that chess pieces are like people, in that they each have their own sentience, that there is no going back on the chessboard nor is there a way to return to the past, before teasing her with the question, "Haha, how can the head of a Commission act like such a sore loser?"
Windswept Wanderlust: Devising Stratagems[]
Jing Yuan and Fu Xuan (who appears as a hologram) first appeared together after Jing Yuan's first meeting with the Astral Express.
Jing Yuan asks her what she makes of the situation, to which she responds if he was asking her to divine their true intentions. Jing Yuan tells her that it wouldn't be necessary, as the crew had nothing to do with the incident, and that rather than their intentions, what he wants is for them to lure who they were after.
Fu Xuan informs him that it was her idea in the first place, to which he tells her that her counsel has always been of great help to him, and that she may use her discretion on matters ahead of them. Fu Xuan then suggests that he retire early so that she could use her discretion full time. Jing Yuan, on the other hand, responds that it is still too early to do so, and that she would need a general to take the blame if something goes wrong, adding that he simply could not walk away and put her at such risk.
Fu Xuan argues that that wouldn't have been necessary if he had just brought Blade to her before asking him if he had let him escape on purpose. Jing Yuan responds that he had no idea that Blade would've escaped and that unlike her, his gaze does not travel beyond the horizon, adding that he takes full responsibility and that the Cloud Knights have failed in their duty. Fu Xuan, in turn, says that he was bound to miss something before suggesting that he nominate her as his successor when the Six Charioteers finally convene. Jing Yuan merely tells her that he would and that he would leave the matter in her overwhelmingly capable hands before turning the call off.
Afterwards, Yanqing mentions to Jing Yuan that everyone knows Fu Xuan has been eyeing the general's seat for a long time now, to which Jing Yuan answers that although she is capable, she has a quick temper, and that he would retire once she has achieved a better balance.
Windswept Wanderlust: Omniscient Inquiry of Arcana[]
After capturing Kafka, Jing Yuan and Fu Xuan were found to be having a discussion over how things were progressing, to which Fu Xuan responds that they are facing an "utter disaster" because not only has the Matrix of Prescience stopped operating, there was also the matter of the Stellaron spirits wreaking havoc and the Cloud Knights struggling to protect civilians. As much as she wants to restore the Matrix of Prescience, she has no forces available.
It is only when the Astral Express crew and Qingque arrived did Jing Yuan inform her that help has arrived.
Windswept Wanderlust: Wood Sprouts Anew, Fate Tilts Askew[]
Jing Yuan and Fu Xuan could be seen talking after she unveiled the Stellaron Hunters' goal through the Matrix of Prescience.
Fu Xuan is confused if Kafka managed to deceive the Matrix of Prescience. Jing Yuan tells her to calm down because the Matrix of Prescience does not lie, and that the logic she has laid out helped him fill in another piece of the puzzle.
After Jing Yuan reveals to her that Kafka's revelations has confirmed his suspicions, Fu Xuan asks him when he had these suspicions, to which he answers that he knew that the Stellaron Hunters were not the ones behind the curtain as soon as he set eyes on Blade. However, why he and the Astral Express was there eluded him and because of Fu Xuan's intel, he finally understood what was going on; that the Stellaron Hunters were trying to get the Xianzhou and the Express on the same track.
Fu Xuan scolds him over his seeming lack of urgency in regards to the Ambrosial Arbor, but Jing Yuan assures her that it is the Stellaron planted by the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus. She asks him if she's coming up with the plan again, to which he tells her that he is sure that she has a countermeasure at the ready. Fu Xuan offers her strategy which involves convening the Cloud Knights as their priority, heading into the roots of the Ambrosial Arbor to expel the Stellaron spirits and prevent the Arbor's resurrection.
Meanwhile Jing Yuan tells her that although her omniscia provides the fastest solution, speed is not everything, and that he has known the Stellaron's location for quite some time now, and asks her why he has held back on their forces. Fu Xuan ponders over this for a moment before calling him a scoundrel.
Jing Yuan assures her that since the Sanctus Medicus have chosen to make their move, the Cloud Knights now have the situation under control and that the traitors have run out of patience, making it the perfect time to capture them in one fell swoop. Fu Xuan, however, scolds him for sitting on it the whole time and asks him how he can justify the losses should something go wrong, to which Jing Yuan tells her that he does have forces to deploy.
The Astral Express crew arrives to inform them about the tree, and upon seeing them, Fu Xuan mutters that it was her fault for having high expectations of the general, frustratedly telling him that they cannot keep having the Astral Express do errands for them. Jing Yuan merely stares at her, causing her to get annoyed and reminding him that the Arbor's access point is a closely guarded secret.
Jing Yuan interrupts her by saying that although it is a violation of the rules, the Xianzhou comes before its rules and regulations, especially in a time of crisis, adding that he is about to make decisions against those rules, including issuing Fu Xuan with the military tally and having the Cloud Knights under her control.
Topclouded Towerthrust: A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant[]
Jing Yuan calls Fu Xuan and orders her to lead the Cloud Knights in defense of this passage so as to prevent further incidents. Fu Xuan asks him if he plans to face Phantylia alone, to which he says that he would enlist the help of a few friends.
He then tells her that if he is unable to return, that he'll entrust her with the important task of relaying the full account to the other Xianzhou ships. Fu Xuan, in turn, says that she believes he will be there to re-issue the order in person, but that she'd command and honor the mission, whatever the outcome. Jing Yuan then smiles and says that she spoke like a true general.
After the fight with Phantylia, Fu Xuan and the Cloud Knights arrived to bring Jing Yuan and the rest to the Exalting Sanctum.
Wardance Event[]
Jing Yuan mentioned that he consulted Fu Xuan's advice before she departed for the Yuque, to which she left a note stating that "The hexagram oscillates between thunder and heaven, a sign of great power," assuring them that they would successfully navigate any challenges, and that he should trust the younger generation's abilities and let them lead.

Fanon[]
JingFu is considered to be Fu Xuan and Jing Yuan's most popular het pairing, being rivaled by FuQing, JingHeng, and JingRen.
Fans started shipping them for their dynamic that is reminiscent of a serious, no-nonsense girl and an easygoing guy. Instances include him poking fun at Fu Xuan's height in A Foxian Tale of the Haunted; him distracting her during their starchess game before teasing her for being a sore loser; him asking her to explain what she meant for those "unable to speak Fu Xuan"; and one instance where he fell asleep when she explained with great detail as to why she should become the general. Despite the differences in personality, they both have a strong sense of duty for the Xianzhou Luofu.
Fu Xuan keeps pestering Jing Yuan to promote her as a general while Jing Yuan tells her he will but he keeps delaying it. She is also one of the few people able to talk to him with an aggressive tone.
The two are also depicted to have mutual trust for each other, evident from A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant wherein he trusted her enough to have her lead the Cloud Knights as he fights Phantylia, and that if he were unable to return, he entrusts her with the task to relay the full account to the Xianzhou ships. Fu Xuan, on the other hand, responded that she trusts that he will be there to re-issue the order in person but that she will do as command and honor the mission regardless of the outcome.

Trivia[]
- Jing Yuan and Fu Xuan share Battle Pass icons, where they are depicted in a hanfu together.
- Jing Yuan mentioned in the Food Fest Day 7 of the Penacony Food Fest event that Fu Xuan would love the jellybeans, as she has a sweet tooth herself.
- In the original CN dub, they use honorifics with each other:[1]
- Jing Yuan refers to Fu Xuan as 符卿 (Fú qīng). In ancient times, the emperor would address his close/high officials as 卿 (qīng) but it can also be used to refer to your intimate friends or spouse.[2]
- As for personal pronouns, Fu Xuan usually refers to herself as 本座 (běn zuò)[3] when it comes to other people, as if referring to herself in a lordly manner. However, when it comes to Jing Yuan, she uses the more informal and personal 我 (wǒ)[4], suggesting that she has a close relationship with him, or at least sees him in the same level as her.
- In canon, he has told her that he would take the fall for her twice. First, in Fu Xuan's Character Story: Part IV and in Devising Stratagems:
- (In Fu Xuan's Character Story: Part IV): "I thank you for your words, but the Six Charioteers should work together to combat such a great crisis. Moreover, you do not have the permission to manipulate that device. Should this plan go awry, I will take all responsibility as the one who made the suggestion. Do not trouble yourself over this, Miss Fu."
- (In Devising Stratagems): Jing Yuan: It is still too soon, unfortunately. If something goes wrong, you'll need a general to take the blame. How could I simply walk away and put you at such risk?
- He once teased her online over her height in A Foxian Tale of the Haunted (Jing Yuan is RealName_Online while Fu Xuan is ruthless_DivinationMachine)
- RealName_Online: For quite some time, the Divination Commission has been burning the wick at both ends with overtime work. People still need to strike a good balance between work and life. Especially the master diviner, because if sleep is always sacrificed, then the possibility of growing taller dies with it
- ruthless_DivinationMachine: ????
- They were featured in a collab together with ChaPanda where they can be seen holding boba drinks.[5]
