JohnHiss is the slash ship between Prince John and Sir Hiss from the Robin Hood fandom.

Canon[]

Prince John and Sir Hiss are introduced by riding in a golden carriage, about to be robbed by Robin Hood and Little John. They chat about the absence of Prince John's brother King Richard and how Prince John managed to usurp his throne thanks to Sir Hiss hypnotizing him into going on crusades. In their carriage, they make their way for Nottingham to tax the citizens and relish in the riches they keep for themselves. During their ride, Sir Hiss mentions the Queen Mother, causing Prince John to suck on his thumb in despair, but Sir Hiss offers to hypnotize him to help him calm down. Prince John realizes what he's trying to do and refuses.

When Robin Hood and Little John disguise themselves as fortune tellers and put themselves in Prince John's path, Sir Hiss is aware of the danger bandits pose, but Prince John dismisses Hiss' concerns, since Robin and Little John crossdressed, Prince John laughs at the idea of female bandits. As Robin kisses the Prince's hands, sucking the gemstones out of his rings, Sir Hiss once again tries to warn Prince John, but the prince gets annoyed at Sir Hiss and puts him in a basket, sitting on it for good measure. However, Sir Hiss is still capable of reaching out of the basket and uses his tail to swat Robin's hand away when he tries to reach for sacks of money they had taxed. However, Sir Hiss is overpowered by Robin's quick thinking and couldn't prevent Prince John from being robbed from everything but his undergarments. Prince John tries to give chase with the carriage, but it falls apart thanks to Little John stealing the golden hubcaps and Prince John throws a tantrum in the mud. Sir Hiss lectures Prince John for his foolishness, only for John to hit him with a mirror. Hiss tells him that it means seven years of bad luck for him, but when Prince John doesn't care, Hiss gets him to suck his thumb again by reminding him that the mirror belonged to his mother.

During Prince John's archery tournament, Hiss is initially allowed to sit next to Prince John, but is quickly kicked out by the arrival of a duke (Little John in disguise), whose company Prince John prefers. Still loyal to the prince, Sir Hiss investigates whether Robin Hood is at the tournament in secret by hiding in a balloon. Flying up to an especially good stork contestant, Sir Hiss flies up to his backside and realizes that he's Robin Hood. However, before he could report this to the prince, he gets shot down by Robin's friends Allan-a-Dale and Friar Tuck and ends up stuffed into an ale barrel by them. After Robin is discovered and manages to escape with Maid Marian, Prince John hears strange sounds out of the ale barrel and opens it to find Sir Hiss. Hiss drunkenly tells him that the stork contestant is Robin Hood in disguise, but Prince John already knew that and ties Sir Hiss to a post in his annoyance. He then dares Hiss to get out of that by himself before leaving.

After Little John and Allan-a-Dale write a song mocking Prince John, Sir Hiss hears the Sheriff of Nottingham (himself loyal to Prince John) cheerfully singing it to himself as he enters the castle. Sir Hiss smiles and corrects him by singing part of the lyrics himself, but stops when Prince John enters the room. Prince John is not at all amused and demands Sir Hiss to double Nottingham's taxes and for everyone who can't pay them to go to jail.

After Friar Tuck gets arrested for assaulting the Sheriff of Nottingham for stealing from the poor box, Sir Hiss tries to cheer Prince John up with the "good news". Prince John however flies into another rage, he doesn't care about Friar Tuck, he wants Robin Hood. However, he quickly realizes that Robin would come to Tuck's aid should something happen to him, so he orders Tuck to be hanged by dawn. Sir Hiss is genuinely shocked that John would go so far as to execute a man of the church, pointing out how the royal name would be ruined if the vatican found out. However, that doesn't stop Prince John from going on with it.

That night, when Robin Hood and Little John attempt a jailbreak while simultaneously stealing all of Prince John's tax money, Robin breaks into Prince John's bedroom to find Sir Hiss sleeping by the foot of Prince John's bed. Robin is alarmed when Prince John kicks Sir Hiss in the face in his sleep, but manages to lull him back to sleep for long enough to steal most of the tax money. However, Prince John previously established loud thumb-sucking noise manages to wake Sir Hiss and he immediately tries to stop Robin Hood by grabbing onto one of the sacks of money. Using Prince John's foot as support, Sir Hiss manages to drag both of them out of the balcony by accident. Prince John finally wakes up, drags himself back into his bedroom and orders Robin Hood to be killed right where he is. When Robin escapes, even as everyone thought he had died by falling into the moat and drowning, Sir Hiss cheerfully points out that Robin Hood is alive. Sir Hiss then tempts fate by lecturing him in how fruitless his attempts to trap Robin Hood were and points out that all he got was one of the towers of his mother's castle being on fire. This causes Prince John to snap and chase Sir Hiss with a wooden plank, while Sir Hiss is fleeing in terror, calling for help.

They are later seen with the Sheriff of Nottingham in prison after Robin Hood's wedding. King Richard forced them to work on the royal rock pile after his return and they almost get shot with an arrow from one of the Sheriff's former henchmen by accident.

Fanon[]

As far as Villain/Lackey ships go, JohnHiss is more popular than any alternative in the movie. Since Sir Hiss is often interpreted as being in love with Prince John, citing how it makes no sense for him to stay loyal to John after all of that otherwise. It is commonly shipped alongside Robarian and sometimes Rohn.
