JokeNight is the femslash ship between Nemuri Kayama and Emi Fukukado from the My Hero Academia fandom.
Canon[]
Nemuri and Emi have never been shown to interact with each other in canon. However, both have worked as Pro-Heroes for a number of years, and and are roughly the same age. Emi's office was once located near Shota Aizawa's, which means she likely worked in the same city as Nemuri. The two women are known friends of Shota's, and so it is possible that they may have met each other at some point over the years. As well, they both fight as members of the Gunga Villa team during the Paranormal Liberation War. While Nemuri perishes during the war, Emi survives and moves on to fight in the Final War as well.
Nemuri and Emi have similar personalities to each other. They are both known to tease Shota, who only ever seems bothered by their antics. They each have a Quirk that uses the mood of those around them, with Nemuri's targeting people's sense of attraction, while Emi's Quirk affects laughter. They are female Pro-Heroes, which seem to be more rare than male Pros, and likely means that they are both very driven to succeed. Finally, both now work in an educational capacity at a hero school. Nemuri is UA's Modern Hero Art History teacher and Emi as a homeroom teacher at Ketsubutsu Academy.
Fanon[]
Despite never interacting in canon, JokeNight is a rather popular femslash ship in the My Hero Academia fandom. Due to the high popularity of EraserMic, fans often need another, age-appropriate character to ship both Nemuri and Emi with. It is easy to pair the two together, thanks to their close respective relationships to Shota Aizawa. It helps that the two have similar personalities, as fans believe they would make a very chaotic duo. JokeNight often appears as a side-pairing in EraserMic-centric fanfics.
Emi is known to ask Shota out on dates often, although it is unclear if she has genuine feelings for him or if she simply enjoys teasing him. Regardless, fans have made note of the fact that Nemuri and Shota share many physical characteristic with each other. This is sometimes brought into play in fanfictions, with Emi falling for Nemuri after initially falling for Shota, or with Emi teasing Shota specifically because he looks like her love interest, Nemuri.
JokeNight currently has over 325 works on AO3. It is the seventh most popular femslash ship in the My Hero Academia fandom. Its biggest rival is EraserJoke.
