Jolly is the femslash ship between Serial Designation J and Doll from the Murder Drones fandom.
Canon[]
In the episode "Home" towards the climax, Doll successfully steals the key bug from Uzi Doorman and delivers it to J, who is patiently waiting for her arrival alongside Tessa. She then asks to join their team as the reward for their deal. However, Uzi, V, and N confront them before the scene abruptly cuts off, leaving the audience off a cliffhanger, thus expanding the situation into the sixth episode. In "Dead End", as the others are conversing, Doll uses this opportunity to steal the key bug and beeline, engaging in a chase that ends with Doll's temporary escape. Unfortunately, J is unable to encounter Doll alongside the team due to being ordered to guard from the outside, excluding her presence from the rest of the episode. Although the Eldritch J and Serial Designation J have the possibility if being two separate characters, in "Heartbeat", Doll rescues Lizzy from her upcoming doom by destroying the door that led to Eldritch J, much to the monster's disappointment.
An important factor revolving around the similarity of J and Doll's characterization is their somewhat controlling nature and their tendency to persevere in completing their tasks and or goals. Both are seen as aggressive due to J's current status as a Disassembly Drone and Doll possessing the AbsoluteSolver and anchoring a vendetta against V for the death of her family. A personality aspect that they share is their sternness and serious composure depending on their current situation. It is heavily possible that they share a negative perspective towards Uzi due to the latter murdering J (although she recovered through the AbsoluteSolver) and her tendency to constantly interfere with Doll's mission. They also don't mind being criticizing towards others, such as Doll tagging alongside Lizzy in poking fun at Uzi after a deadly incident involving her, and J constantly insulting N for unknown reasons.
Although they share many similar characterization traits, what differs them is their personality that activates the "Opposites Attract" trope. Doll is a quiet individual who keeps to herself often, whilst J will not hesitate to be a loud narcissist who constantly ensures she gets her point across in order to maintain everything in control due to her position as a leader. The origin of Doll's aggressiveness sparks from her vendetta towards V whilst J is following orders and has a twisted belief that all Workers are infected and deserve to be eliminated. Despite this, she agrees to form a deal with Doll, a Worker, possibly under the order of Tessa. Despite this difference, they both seem to be careless of the safety of others and engage in murder when necessary or under their current desire.
Fanon[]
The Jolly pairing origin is currently undiscovered, but an assumption claims that it began once "Home" was released. Fans conjured many headcanons revolving around J and Doll's interesting relationship. They depict their relationship as wholesome and somewhat teasing. This leads to the headcanon that J finds entertainment in annoying and or teasing Doll, which Doll does not take lightly and responds in an aggressive attitude. Fanart depicted J as someone who will constantly rant and or vent to her partner while Doll doesn't entirely register her speech and spaces out during some points. Overall, the pairing is a crack ship that has gained a considerable number of shippers.
