Julenette is the femslash ship between Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Juleka Couffaine from the Miraculous Ladybug fandom.
Canon[]
Marinette and Juleka are friends and classmates. They are both members of the band Kitty Section, with Juleka functioning as the guitarist and Marinette as the band's costume designer. Juleka is also a member of Team Miraculous, holding the Tiger Miraculous. She is given this honour in "Crocoduel" when Marinette needs her help in stopping Juleka's akumatized parents. Currently, Juleka is unaware of Marinette's identity as Ladybug.
Marinette often helps Juleka with her shyness and low self esteem. In "Reflekta" she tries to help Juleka end her "photo curse" by putting her front and center in their class picture. When that doesn't work, Marinette later arranges to have the photo retaken at the park, where Juleka is finally captured in the picture. In "Guiltrip", Marinette is worried about Juleka when she is grappling with the possibility that Rose's illness might be returning. Marinette tries to find Juleka when she runs crying out of the cafeteria, and is later seen attempting to comfort her.
Alongside the rest of the Girl Squad, Juleka often tries to help Marinette in her romantic pursuits of Adrien Agreste. She also tries to support the burgeoning relationship between Marinette and Juleka's brother, Luka.
Fanon[]
Julenette is somewhat of a rarepair in the fandom. Both characters have more popular ships, Julerose and Adrienette, which are also both currently canon. Due to this, they are often not shipped with other characters.
Still, there are some fans who enjoy the dynamic between the two characters. They like the support that the two girls always show for each other, and the way in which Marinette is one of the few characters who seems to truly understand Juleka. Some shippers enjoy Julenette as a femslash take on Lukanette, the ship between Marinette and Juleka's twin brother. Lukanette shippers themselves tend to enjoy the friendship between Marinette and Juleka, exploring how they might function as sisters-in-law in the future.
