Kaidam is the slash ship between Adam and Kai from The Hollow fandom.
Canon[]
Adam and Kai first meet in "The Room" when they wake up in an unfamiliar room and can't remember anything. Both guys and their friend, Mira, lead an unfamiliar world of magical mysteries in an attempt to return to home, which they can't remember of where is.
At first, their relationship is somewhat tense. Kai feels intimidated by Adam, and his insecurities frequently lead him to disagree with or belittle Adam, which often causes arguments. Despite his insecurities, Kai usually goes to Adam for security when he is scared.
Kai saves Adam's life in "Cocoon." When Adam is in a coma dying of hypothermia, Kai makes two prosthetic legs for the mutant spider leader, who, in return for the kind gesture, heals Adam with his venom. After that, they got closer and so well their development of their friendship grown even more.
Season 2[]
After Adam recountered with Kai and Mira, they get persecuted by Adam's fear (his childhood bullies), Kai, who was eating donuts while escaping, he gets sad about the fact that he will make a small "sacrifice" (throwing the donuts to the bullies so they can get distracted and escape with Adam and Mira), and with that, he ended doing that so. After reaching Adam and Mira, Adam compliments about his good thinking which Kai tells him that they've gotta make some sacrifices, then Kai offers both guys for heading to his place so they can hide. Adam, shocked by the place of where Kai lives, asks Kai if the mansion of which they were standing were really his, which Kai nervously says that he only stays there for winter.
Before Kai gets attacked by Mabel, Adam screams for his name and then jumps to deal with Kai's nightmare (Mabel), he then fells to the ground and Kai compliments Adam by saying that he was doing great, Adam then tells him that he wishes that Kai'd be afraid of something that didn't have a razor-shap beak. Adam then gets caught by Mabel, to which Kai runs to save him by saying to the chicken (Mabel) to let his friend alone, and then says that he wasn't afraid of Mabel, to which the chicken disappears in the process after Kai says that, surprising Adam while he said that he made to deal with his nightmare. After heading back to the mansion, Kai tells that dreams are weird, but Adam says that they weren't in his dream, but Kai contradicts him by saying that he wouldn't be so sure about that. Then it's seen Adam messing with Kai's things for finding clues about the game, to which Kai gets a little angry saying that they had to find clues without messing with his things, and then Adam teases him by contradicting Kai's words about that everything was a dream too. Later in the same episode, Kai promises not "getting in" between Adam and Mira, to which later Adam confess to him that he was gay, which Kai chuckled and gets disappointed that nobody tells him anything.
Later, it's seen that Adam was waiting for Kai at the agreed place and time, when Kai arrives, he leans to Adam's shoulders and shakes him from back to front saying that everything isn't a dream. Adam then welcomes him to reality while Kai tells his problem. Adam and Kai then headed to Mira's house to look up for her, but without success, they head to Hollow Games to find Mira. After making to infiltrate inside the building, both guys suddenly get attacked by robots which made them get through into a portal, but before that Kai says that that portal was the only way for look out for Mira and also don't get attacked by the robots, which Adam asks if they'll do it together while offering his hand, Kai then agree and holds Adam's hand and then both guys jump together while holding hands inside the portal.
After being teleported through the portal, they both fall to an unknown location, with a castle in the distance. Adam is angered by the fact that he thought they had never won the game and Kai, to cheer him up, tells him a bad joke and also reassures him that everyone likes to play, including Adam and Mira. While they continued investigating inside the castle, both are attacked by a gnome woman with a big knife and this one only manages to cut off Kai's finger (which made him bleed, but it was a minor wound), to which he acts in a dramatic way while Adam holds him kind of cradling him, Kai later asks how much time he had left of life, and Adam jokingly tells him that at the rate at which he bleeds, he would have decades to live. After giving the gnome some blood, the gnome woman helps them with just a riddle and then it disappears, confusing both boys. While looking for clues, Kai proposes that it was a puddle, jumping one by one, getting Adam wet in the process. Adam gets angry, and after complaining about Kai, he asks him why they recruited him into the team with Mira, Adam looked a bit hesitant to talk about it, but Kai manages to convince him and Adam says that Reeve had been in the team before but he had abandoned them, and that Kai was the only one there as a recruit. Still with doubts, Kai asks if he wants Reeve to be with them again instead of him and Adam, smiling, told him that they were doing great without Reeve, which reassures Kai.
While fighting Louie (the snail), it's seen both guys making a team attack together, with Kai using his fire to impulse Adam to the snail, and Adam using his fighting skills to attack Louie. When Jules (Louie's owner) invites the boys with Mira inside his mansion, he tells them that they have to get dressed to go eat dinner. When they finished dressing, Kai enters the dining room in a sailor suit, to which Adam laughs barely saying that normally sailors' hats do not normally look good, but with Kai wearing it, it fit perfectly, to which Kai knows "laugh" sarcastically.
In the final level, it's seen Reeve, Mira, Adam, and Kai looking out for Vanessa in the middle of a desert when suddenly a pyramid-looking appears in the middle and Adam tries to open it, while Kai says; "I've got your back, buddy!" and with his fire, tries to open the pyramid-looking alongside with Adam. He couldn't open it and gave up, but then suddenly the pyramid-looking opens and reveals an elevator with a monkey in, saying that the elevator guides down the desert so then the group of guys went inside the elevator and when they got down, they see a man who offered them a car in exchange for answering questions. After answering all of them, the man gave them the car and then they went to catch up with the other team so that they did not win the game.
While in the process for stopping the another group, Kai puke while being in the car, because it seemed like Kai didn't like being in one, but then Adam calls his name which Kai understood the message, and then he retained the other team with his powers so they couldn't reach the goal. After reaching the another team, Adam explains them that they've got in the same situation as them and with that they paid the price with losing more than a friend, while the last line, Adam was looking at Kai and leaning a hand in his shoulder because when he said "more than a friend", Vanessa was involved too, so Adam cheered up Kai by leaning his hand in the shoulder with a "everything's-gonna-be-alright" face.
After winning the game (again), everyone returned safely to their new lives in the virtual world with the knowledge that their real selves are living their lives in the real world.

Kaidam is the most popular ship in the fandom, and it attributes its popularity to various reasons, including their frequent bickering, abundant physical contact, Adam's rejection of Mira, and Kai's attempts to impress Adam. However, there are fans that still hate this ship because of Kai, according to the fans, he is an annoying guy and wasn't worth for anyone.
On AO3, Kaidam is the most written ship for both Kai and Adam. It is also the most written ship in The Hollow (Cartoon) tag.
