KajiSaku is the slash ship between Ren Kaji and Haruka Sakura from the Wind Breaker fandom.
Canon[]
He initially has a negative impression of Kaji when he's annoyed with him after he yelled at him for a long time to accept his position of grade captain, even deciding for him after complaining about his hesitance. He later acts as more of a mentor for him when he reveals he was chosen as grade captain in a similar fashion as, and the struggled with the same fears and difficulties as Sakura when starting as grade captain, eventually advising him to accept helping from the others and to stop acting alone because he fears rejection.
Introduction Arc[]
Moments before Sakura was hit by a bat, Hiiragi saves him and Fellow Furin High students rescue with Ren Kaji together with Yodai and Jien has arrived afterward, easily saving him while fighting with the other delinquents. After they beat these guys, all the towns people cheered at them and they're loved at everyone when he sees him. But Kaji watched him kicking a delinquent in admiration on Boufuurin and he beat him.
KEEL Arc[]
When everyone is at the classroom, the Tamon Team's second-year grade captains and vice captains has arrived and he knew him from before. Sakura has become a grade captain, but Kaji yelling him so loud like he said.
Kaji points at Sakura if he's the grade captain.
But Kusumi fwips his headphones and he points him he's the grade captain but they're done. But he can't making decisions without asking him first, but they're done for this. Enomoto explains to him that he's the second-year grade captain. Sakura is now the Tamon team's grade captain, Kaji already made his call to follow his orders. The Tamon team's got a patrol duty today after school for the newbie captains can follow after Kaji.
On their duty while patrolling the town after school, Sakura, Nirei, Suo, Kaji, and Kusumi walking around while doing their duty, a young lady ask for help that a cat named Risa goes missing again. He told him to keep eyes on her while he'll handled it, he's asking her about the cat's details and Kusumi will take care of it while Kaji is searching to find Risa. While texting on his phone, Sakura founds a cat to catch it. While Sakura is chasing a cat, she jumps off the bridge but Kaji is going to swim and rescuing her. After that, Risa is now safe inside the crate and return to a cat's owner, he went topless and have a towel, she thanks to him for saving her cat. Sakura is going to Kaji and asking what he wanna do, he only become a grade captain cause there's something he wanna do to him. He don't wanna do it and he didn't the grade captain because he wanted it and asking him why. Because they told him to and Sakura knew it. He don't' know why if he ain't gonna do nothing for there's no point in making him a leader. He stands up and glares at him, he opens and eats a lollipop. When he's out of lollipop, he can't make them for himself for someone like him and he's not like Enomoto and Kusumi, he don't have the charisma to lead the people and he can't communicate well with others, that's why he's always relying on them but these guys like them have on him too. He walks away that so in order to live up to their expectations, he's just doing what he can and that's all there is to it and he walked away while he's topless. Sakura knows about his expectation to him for that he knew.
At their classroom, all the first and second year grade captains and vice captains to gather up on the school rooftop. They're at the rooftop to introduced the Four Heavenly Kings and their advisers. While meeting the advisers, Kaji wants to know he figures out the basics on his own, there isn't much he can do for him, plus he's not his brother or anything, but he knew that much. On the next after that, Kaji looks through the window that all the Furin High first year students' Class 1-1 are going to save Nagato from Keel.
During the scuffle of Class 1-1's fighting with KEEL, Kaji has arrived and his vice captains came to aid them at the KEEL's lair. He takes on Shingo Natori the leader of KEEL before their fight. They discuss about his past reputation of violence, and about their job is the protection of this town including the people and the memories even the all off Bourin around is a member of this town is to protecting it and Sakura heard it. Kaji is fighting against the KEEL members and he see Shingo but Anzai got injured by him and he pulls and hold him tight. He views him figning with the KEEL members, he knew about to figure out his basics on his own. When Kaji came to have him but Sakura sees him and Kaji is fighting with Takeru but he whooms at him. He's going talk to him right now, but he's saying what's wrong about that but the punched on his face and grabbed him and telling him that he's so distracted by that nobody up there, he can't even deal with this small fry on his own. He can't even help the other that need it.
He yelled at him because he can't save his own classmates and they never cell himself their grade captain
He yelled at him because if he cant even save his own classmates, then he shouldn't call himself their grade captain. He let go him, he cant either so he'll give him an extra punch just for him. He needs to focus on what he have to do. While he's going up, he want him on that face right in front, straight for the nose, he'll give him at least ten good smacks, he's going up to fight against Shingo. He continued to fight with Takeru, but he punched himself on his face and he'll be fighting with him again. After he beats Shingo already, all of the Class 1-1 raise their hands and shouted that all of the KEEL members has completely beaten up already and the fight is over. He saw Sakura with Anzai talking with Masaki that he says sorry to everyone on why he joined KEEL and Kaji sees him that it doesn't always mean that others will see him in the same light. When everyone heard that Masaki wants to talk to him about what happened and why he joined KEEL. When all of the Class 1-1 walking around, everyone chatters at him when Kaji looks at them with Enomoto and Kusumi talking about KEEL for what happened during their fight and recalling of having a similar experience with Hiiragi back then in their first year.
At night, when they arrived at the Ashitaba Eatery with the Tamon teams' first and second year grade captains and vice captains with Mazaki and Nagato. They arrived and they're having a feast. After their dinner, they walked back home.
Sakura/Tsubakino Arc[]
After he gets healed from his sickness, Kaji walks in and he see Sakura the he wants to talk to him. He wants to talk about what happened on the last fight, but all of the Class 2-1 appears to chatters at him but Kaji was embarrassed and he wants Sakura to go and have a talk. While talking about their fight with KEEL, he thought that he could handle it on his own. But that wasn't that case at all, In the end they even needed him with them to clean up for this mess for them. There really isn't much that he can do. That is why he understand he got rely on others, let them helped him. But he leave to his vice captains, like earlier and during fights and when he go on a patrol. But how he let them handled so much, he wants to say something to him but he shut him down for a sec and he's still thinking and walk away. They both get a bottled coffee from a vending machine, he was still thinking and walked away and followed him.
They bought a coffee from the vending machine.
They go at the rooftop and he want to advice and know about how to rely on others, that's because he can't do everything on his own. But if he say that, then it's like he's saying that he's weak but he can't do that. He was looking something and he found the tools. He's making something and holding a bottle with a sign green tea, but exactly inside, it's coffee. He shows an example and explains to Sakura about this bottle how much he insist that this green tea to him, inside is still coffee. Just changing the label doesn't mean that what's inside changes. Then it is the same as faking insisting that this green tea when the inside is coffee but he knew it. He said that he understood. He knew that he can't do much more on his own and that he need to rely on others but he can't do it. That's because he's scared of being rejected by others. He knew and remembered he was being rejected and he don't care about the others looks at him. He know what he remembered what happened during with fight with KEEL and decided to make him their captain and he know what he has to do. He don't think what he think about how the around him to judged him, but the fact that he's out of his twits has been obvious to everyone but he was twitched.
But he don't know why how did people know that he was scared, he knows that he's scared but he told him to shut it. They're discussing about something like a cat or a dog is scared out of their wits, they try to intimidate the things that is threatening to them, and it's the same thing. He explains the rooftop horror story to Sakura that there's a ghost show up here in the rooftop, someone who sneaked up here at night he said he saw it. A women in a dress stood here, staring at him. He went freaked out and the next day, everyone told about this. Several people decided to check the place out together and it was more than a plastic bag wrapped around the shovel. It's the guy who thought it was a ghost and he got scared for no reason. Right now, he's the only one who think's everyone's rejecting him and he's getting scared for no reason. He understand why how weak he is regarding all of his friends and when they saw how he snapped at them, not a single one of them chose to reject him. He knows why about it's the proof that they're seeing him for who he really are. Despite that he keep getting scared of being rejected when it's not even happening from what he can see. It looks to him that he's the one who's not seeing them for who they are. He have no idea what could've happened to him but he can understand the feelings that way. That is why he's telling this, He needs to trust them based on what he can see. He knew about his classmates and friends calling his name for doing his best for them what he remembered. After their conversation, he've said it so much.
Kaji runs away after he punched Umemiya on his face
They look at them but they got interrupted by Hajime and Toma's arrival while clapping his hands that he well said. He felt embarrassed by Umemiya and he punched on his face and Sakura was surprised and Kaji runs away.
Umemiya's Backstory Arc[]
While training, Hiiragi was training with Sakura while Kaji is with Suo. He wants to keep training without taking a rest, Hiiragi advice him to take a break. When he expresses his desire to get stronger and to protect others, but he'll take on him to get stronger and he'll hurry up. Kaji volunteers to become his new training partner before the battle begins.
Noroshi Arc[]
At the strategy meeting, all of the Tamon teams will be defending the bridge. At night before the fight, they're ready for it but all the Noroshi members arrived. When the countdown ends on his phone, they're ready to fight. After the fight between Umemiya and Takiishi, he chat everyone that he had won and the war if over and everyone are so happy.
Post-Battle Celebration Arc[]
After that, they're celebrating a Thank You Party at Furin High.
After their summer break at the beach, all of the the first-years gathered around and arrived at the basketball court and he want him to be with him to join for fighting for practicing.
