KakaGai is the slash ship between Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy from the Naruto fandom.
Canon[]
Background[]
Kakashi and Guy first saw each other as children when taking the entrance exam to the ninja academy. Guy later saw that he did not pass but that Kakashi did. Kakashi then walked by with his father Sakumo, and he asked Guy's father Duy if Kakashi and Guy could be friends, much to Kakashi's dismay, but Duy replied that Guy did not pass the entrance exam and that they would not be in class together. Kakashi then made a negative comment about Guy trying to enter the academy despite not having any skill in ninjutsu, and Sakumo scolded him for being rude, and told him that he could tell Guy was a hard worker and may surpass him one day.
Guy was later accepted into the academy as an alternate, and he payed extra attention to Kakashi's achievements. Kakashi never payed much attention to Guy, but whenever Guy messed up in front of the class, Kakashi would be the only one who did not laugh at him. Guy was motivated to work hard so that he could catch up to Kakashi, and Kakashi began to notice his progress, but he did not say anything and pretended to not notice.
Guy later begged to Kakashi to become his rival, and he reluctantly accepted. Kakashi beat Guy when competing in weapons and combat, and he admitted that his taijutsu skills were something to brag about, but that he was still scum compared to him. Guy later begged for a rematch with Kakashi, and they battled in rock-paper-scissors instead, and this rivalry would continue into adulthood. Kakashi and Guy later graduated from the academy but were placed onto separate teams. They both later signed up to take the Chunin Exams. Kakashi was embarrassed when his teammate Obito lost to Guy, and then defeated Guy himself in the next round. Kakashi was promoted to Chunin at age 6, while Guy was not promoted until he was 11, and Kakashi was then promoted to Jōnin a year later at age 12.
Kakashi would eventually lose both of his teammates, Obito and Rin, and Guy was aware of this and would try to keep Kakashi from falling "too far into the darkness". They were both playing rock-paper-scissors when the Nine-Tailed Fox attacked the village. They wanted to help with defending the village but were kept outside and forced to wait. When Kakashi was a member of Anbu, Guy saw him and Itachi assassinate a group of shinobi that Guy was supposed to steal a scroll from, and Kakashi scolded Guy for calling out his real name, but he later apologized to Guy that he had to see something so cruel.
Guy wanted to join Anbu as Kakashi's partner, but was denied due to lacking the 'darkness' required of anbu members. After seeing that Kakashi was becoming more depressed, Guy refused to believe that there was not still life within Kakashi. Guy later recommended to the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, that Kakashi be removed from Anbu and employed as a teach of a shinobi squad instead. When Hiruzen took his advice, Kakashi kept failing his students and sending them back to the academy, but he finally allowed one team to pass, after Guy had already had his own squad for a year.
Part 1[]
When Kakashi recommended his team for the Chunin Exams, Guy scolded him, saying that he held his team off for a year to practice more. Kakashi responded that his students had the potential to surpass Guy's students. At the end of the second round, they were standing together, as both of their teams had passed, but a preliminary round needed to be held to reduce the number of combatants for the third round. Kakashi acted aloof around Guy, which agitated him for acting so cool. When it was revealed that Guy taught Lee how to open the eight inner gates, Kakashi scolded him for teaching his student such a dangerous technique. Lee was severely injured in his match and was told his days as a shinobi were over. Kakashi criticized Guy for pushing his student too hard and not stopping him before it got to that point.
One month later, Kakashi and Guy watched the third round of the Chunin Exams together. During the fight between Sasuke and Gaara, Sasuke was revealed to have learned the Chidori from Kakashi. Guy scolded Kakashi for teaching him a dangerous technique, but Kakashi reminded him of what he taught Lee. When Sunagakure and Otogakure turned against the village, Kakashi and Guy fought their enemies together. At the end of the battle, they discovered the hokage's corpse together, and were both stunned in disbelief.
Itachi and Kisame later infiltrated the village, and Kakashi fought them along with Kurenai and Asuma. Kakashi was caught in Itachi's Tsukuyomi, and soon fell unconscious due to the trauma. Guy arrived just as Kakashi was passing out and saved him from a fatal attack. He successfully drove Itachi and Kisame off, and had Kakashi brought to the hospital. Kakashi's student Sasuke came in and demanded to know what happened to his teacher, but Guy intentionally dodged the question. Aoba then barged in and announced what happened, prompting Sasuke to chase off after his brother, and Guy had to pursue Sasuke and bring him back.
Part 2[]
The newly formed Team Kakashi was sent to rescue the kidnapped Kazekage Gaara, and Team Guy was later sent to assist them. Kakashi summoned his ninken Pakkun and used him to communicate intel between the two teams. After encountering a barrier tag, Guy had his team remove the seal tags since his team was faster. They fought separate battles but were later back together against Deidara, who had one of his clones explode to take them all out. Kakashi used the Kamui from his Mangekyō Sharingan to banish it to another dimension, and then collapsed due to exhaustion.
Guy had to help Kakashi walk back to Konoha, and was lagging behind the others as a result. Guy wanted to be the first one back, so he tossed Kakashi into the air and then caught him on his back in a piggyback ride before racing off to the village. Guy and Kakashi arrived back to the village first with Lee arriving right behind him. Guy was disappointed in Lee and told him that he came in third and not second because Kakashi was on his back and technically finished second. Kakashi then fell unconscious so Guy took him to the hospital.
Guy and Kakashi were both assiged to the third division during the Fourth Shinobi World War. They fought Haku and Zabuza together after they had been resurrected by the Edo Tensei. They began to worry when the Zetsu army arrived but felt reassured when Naruto arrived as a reinforcement. Kakashi and Guy later fought Tobi and the tailed beasts together. Guy was concerned when Kakashi pointed out that his eyes were connected to Tobi's and called out to him when he was pondering Tobi's identity. Both were stunned when Tobi's mask was destroyed and he was revealed to be Obito, as he was believed to have been killed in the previous war.
When Kakashi and Guy were fighting Madara Uchiha, Guy opened the seventh gate and used Hirudora, which barely managed to scratch him. Kakashi was worried when Guy broke an arm and cracked some of his ribs. Kakashi stated that they were out of options if even Guy's taijutsu was not enough, but Guy replied that there was still another option. He opened the eight gate, which results in cetain death, despite everyone's protests, and declared that he was doing it to protect Kakashi and the entire village. Kakashi also protested this decision but to no avail.
Guy used the powerful Night Guy to nearly defeat Madara, and Kakashi remembered his father Sakumo telling him that Guy might surpass him one day. Madara was nearly defeated but managed to regenarte. Guy was about to turn into ash but Naruto arrived and used the nine-tails' chakra to save his life. Kakashi worried about what became of Guy after his final attack. He was rendered wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life, and spent time with Kakashi after he retired from being the Hokage.
