KanaAoi is the femslash ship between Aoi Kanzaki and Kanao Tsuyuri from the Demon Slayer fandom.
Canon[]
Exactly how close they always were is somewhat uncertain however the two get along greatly and seem to view each other as sisters. They were both girls who were rescued by Shinobu and brought to the Butterfly Mansion in order to help out. And they both seem to highly respect the other.
Kanao along with Tanjiro attempts to help Aoi from getting taken away with Tengen which was strange and unusual since Kanao rarely ever made her own decisions on her own without the help of her coin and never went against her orders up until that moment. Aoi is grateful towards both Tanjiro and Kanao for protecting her and feels somewhat honored that Kanao would go against her orders all for her. After that the two seem to grow a bit closer.
At the beginning though, Aoi wasn't the biggest fan of Kanao due to the same reasons Shinobu was at first. She got frustrated that Kanao would show little to no emotion and found her difficult to deal with. She also felt somewhat inferior to Kanao since Kanao knew how to fight demons and was extremely strong and brave in battle unlike Aoi. However after Kanao decides to open up a bit more Aoi starts to understand her more and they begin to grow closer. Eventually they both start to view each other as Best Friends and they grow a bit closer as time goes on.
When they were both younger and Kanao was choosing her new last name Aoi was desperate for a sister so she kept asking Kanao to choose her last name. Kanao was confused at first and Aoi almost got away with it until Kanao decided that Tsuyuri sounded prettier.

One afternoon, following Aoi’s near kidnapping by the Sound Hasira Tengen, she is called on by Shinobu to run a few errands. She informs Aoi that she will be sending Kanao to accompany her on her trip as well, leaving Aoi with an uneasy feeling. While at the apothecary, the girls discover they have forgotten their wallets and are forced to figure out a way to collect the items on their list. The whole way, Aoi and Kanao started to bond with each other closer.

KanaAoi sailed as a result of both girls living at the Butterfly Mansion together and Aoi being the closest person to Kanao besides Shinobu and Kanae. And due to the lack of female characters people thought that they would make a cute femslash pairing. A small thing in fanficitons is Aoi and Kanao going on a double date with Inosuke and Tanjiro who are involved in a ship of their own. This is either depicted as Aoi and Kanao going out with their male lovers together, or the two dating each other and going out with Inosuke and Tanjiro who are dating each other instead.
However, there are fans who dislike this ship as they view each other as sisters; despite the fact that they are not related by blood. But lots of fans like to see them in an AU where demons don't exist and they simply meet and fall in love.
