KanaChika is the femslash ship between Kanan Matsuura and Chika Takami from the Love Live! fandom.

Canon

Kanan and Chika are childhood friends along with You Watanabe. Chika and Kanan are both members of Aqours and students at Uranohoshi Girls high school, second-year and third-year respectively. Kanan is a cool-headed big sister figure of Aqours, while Chika is the sometimes airheaded leader who never gives up on her dreams. They have contrasting color schemes, Kanan being blue and Chika being orange. Kanan is sometimes compared to Umi, being sometimes strict but caring.

In Episode 1, Kanan is first show hanging out with Chika at her diving shop. Kanan asks Chika if she's late due to the entrance ceremony, Chika responds that she and You got caught up in other things. She then gives Kanan some items given to her by her mom. They then sit down chat, and Chika asks Kanan if she'll be able to come to school this semester. Kanan tells her she'll be helping at home and might not be able to make it, which makes Chika a little sad. Chika says she wanted her to come because she wants to be a school idol, which prompts Kanan to avoid the subject telling her she can't be one because she's a third year.

In the card side story "Little Memory", Kanan talks with You about her childhood memories. They see one with them playing with Chika on the beach when they were little. They made a sand mountain with a tunnel through it and wrote "SOS" in big letters, like in the movies. They went into the water in their regular clothes, and then had to bathe and change at Chika's house. After that, they had lunch and took a nap together.

Fanon

KanaChika is considered a rarepair, due to the lack of official and fanon content. It doesn't help that they both have more popular ships with the same "childhood friends to lovers trope", that are much more focused on in the show. Such as ChikaYou and KanaMari. Some people prefer it platonically, where Chika is more like a little sister to Kanan. They currently have 55 works on Ao3.
