Kavayla is the het ship between Kaveh and Layla from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon[]

A Parade of Providence[]

For the second round of the Championship, everyone gathers in the desert. Kaveh asks if Layla is alright, noting that the bags under her eyes seem to be darker than during the first round. Layla appreciates his concern, but explains that it's just because she has been worried about the Championship and unable to sleep. Kaveh empathizes with her, comparing her situation to times when he spends all night agonizing over his blueprints. Layla asks if he has any tips for dealing with that stress, but he doesn't, saying sometimes one just has to let things run their course. Although he doesn't know what exactly is stressing her out, he can feel her anxious energy, and encourages her to do her best in the next round. Layla wishes him well in return.

Later on, "Other Layla" comments on Kaveh to the Traveler. She feels that Kaveh's situation is a lot worse than that of Daytime Layla's. The two of them are different in that Layla doesn't yet know what she wants to do, while Kaveh knows what he wants to do but is conflicted about it. Layla says it seems like Kaveh is "smiling on the outside, but there's no joy inside", then supposes that he's more experienced and better at dealing with it than her.

Ruins Investigation: Fieldwise Center[]

Just after Layla wakes at Puspa Cafe, Kaveh and Alhaitham arrive on the scene. Kaveh asks if Layla is alright. After hearing that she was just sleeping, he apologizes for them being loud and waking her, to which she stutters out that they weren't. After hearing that Layla had some trouble in the desert, Kaveh expresses his sympathies and offers to help out with anything if they need it. The Traveler explains the situation and upon hearing "quicksand", Kaveh becomes worried. He immediately asks to help, thinking that both he and Alhaitham have experience that could be of use. He goes on to say that he considers them all his friends, and that friends should help each other out.

Moments[]

  • A Parade of Providence: Kaveh gets Faruzan to back off from trying to "poach" Layla over to the Haravatat Darshan.
  • An Odd Textual Mystery: Kaveh asked Layla about the book with the really long name.

Quotes[]

Kaveh“I don't know what's stressing you out, but I can feel all the anxiety and pressure coming from you. The next round's about to start, so chin up and do your best.”
Layla“Oh, okay… You do your best, too.”
— Competition on the Sands (A Parade of Providence)
“[Kaveh] said that worries can be like illnesses — they don't always have a magic cure. Sometimes, you just have to endure them as best you can until they run their course. But the way I see it, his situation is much worse than my other self's... She just hadn't found what she wanted to do at that moment, which is why she felt lost. Kaveh, meanwhile, knows what he wants to do — he's convinced that he has to win — and yet, he still seems conflicted… He doesn't have a second personality, but... somehow, he still seems like he's at odds with himself in some way. ...I don't know exactly how to describe it. It's like he's smiling on the outside, but there's no joy inside. Only sorrow. Still, who knows. He must be more experienced than me — maybe he's just better at dealing with it all than I am.”

Fanon[]

Kavayla is a rarepair for both Kaveh and Layla, but it gained some fans after their interaction in A Parade of Providence. They are often compared for both overworking themselves and being perfectionists, especially since in their Parade of Providence conversation they bond over losing sleep from stress. They are similar in that although their work is difficult and tiring, they do it anyway because of the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment it gives them. As Kaveh's father was part of the Rtawahist Darshan, some think that perhaps Kaveh would know a bit about the kinds of things Layla is studying. Kaveh and Layla's relationship is more often enjoyed platonically, especially in the context of Layla looking up to Kaveh as her senior/a professor and Kaveh wanting to help his junior out the best he can.
