Kavenari is the slash ship between Kaveh and Tighnari from the Genshin Impact fandom.

Canon[]

Kaveh and Tighnari are both playable characters. While the story does not specify when Kaveh and Tighnari first met, Tighnari and Kaveh mention that Kaveh asked Tighnari to recommend suitable ornamental flora for the Palace of Alcazarzaray during its initial planning, with Tighnari also also helping him out with some other issues during the process.

He may have also been involved in dispersing the Withering Zone during the first version of the Palace of Alcazarzarays destruction, though this is unclear for a variety of reasons; while it is mentioned in both Alhaitham's "About Tighnari" voice-over and Kaveh's fourth Character Story that the Forest Rangers, of which Tighnari is the leader, dispersed the Withering Zone, neither Tighnari nor Kaveh mention Tighnari's direct involvement. However, Alhaitham claims that Tighnari does not hold the incident against Kaveh, implying that he was involved in some way. This is made all the more curious, as Tighnari claims to be unaware how or why Kaveh is bankrupt during the Palace's completion. Regardless, Tighnari doesn't hold the incident over Kaveh's head, as it doesn't come up in any of their interactions.

Tighnari and Kaveh have a cordial relationship and a mutual respect for each other, with Tighnari praising Kaveh for being the architect behind the Palace of Alcazarzaray and Kaveh praising Tighnari for his professionalism in his field of expertise.

While not aware of the specifics of Kaveh’s bankruptcy situation, Tighnari is noted to take care of Kaveh in some ways, as he treats Kaveh to meals due to his financial difficulties, which Kaveh finds regrettable because he feels he relies on him too much. According to some dialogue and Kaveh's "About Cyno" voice-over, these meals are frequently held at Tighnari's home, with Kaveh and Tighnari's other mutual friends Cyno and Collei present. Tighnari is also shown to be wary of Kaveh's roommate Alhaitham, owing to Alhaitham being the source of Kaveh's rage.

Kaveh's Character Teaser concludes with a brief glimpse of Tighnari and Collei in the background as he uses Mehrak to review his blueprint of the Palace of Alcazarzaray.

Kaveh's Hangout[]

Tighnari appears in Kaveh's Hangout Event Act I - The Pendulum of Weal and Woe, although he only appears in one path, Past Mementos leading into the ending Wondrous Times depending on the players choices.

Asking about Kaveh's motivation for becoming an architect will lead to the A Dear Memento route, which will take the players to his and Alhaitham's home. Following this, the player must request that Kaveh search for his mother's former professor Zaha Hadi in the Birmasten area, where they will encounter Tighnari, who came to the city to buy some experimental regents to bring to back to Gandharva Ville, only to be interrupted by Zaha Hadi and Cyrus arguing.

Tighnari will smell the alcohol on Kaveh and ask if he had been to the tavern, which Kaveh will try to downplay by claiming he only had a quick drink or two. Tighnari then chastises him for drinking in broad daylight and putting himself at risk of being run over in his drunken stupor, and chastises the Traveler for allowing him to do so without intervening, before noticing Kaveh's upset expression, changing his tone to a more concerned one to ask him what happened. He then invites him to a meal at Pardis Dhyai tomorrow evening, to which Kaveh says he'll think about going. Tighnari then departs for Gandharva Ville, and is mentioned a bit later before the gathering.

Quotes[]

“Ah, Tighnari... He's one of the nicest guys you could know. If you've met him, you'll know what I mean. He's kind, and he has enormous expertise in his field, but he never brags about it in front of other people. And he seems to genuinely care about his work. Back when I was building the Palace of Alcazarzaray, I asked him for some tips on how to pick out the right ornamental plants. After he wrote back to me, he also helped me out with some other issues, too. Oh, and I almost forgot — he was the one who first introduced me to Cyno. ”
— Kaveh's About Tighnari voiceline.
“Be careful of Alhaitham. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, but he purely operates by rationality, so people often find his actions unacceptable. If you don't believe me, just ask his roommate — thanks to Alhaitham, he has more pent-up frustration than an angry Anemo Slime.”
— Tighnari's About Alhaitham voiceline.
“Kaveh is a famous architect in Sumeru. The Palace of Alcazarzaray is his magnum opus. During the initial planning, he even asked me to recommend suitable ornamental flora. I don't know why or how, but he ended up heavily in debt after the palace was completed. Alhaitham is helping out by letting him stay at his place, but... I don't know whether that's a blessing or a curse...”
— Tighnari's About Kaveh voiceline.
“I've met Collei quite a few times now. As Tighnari's student and assistant, she follows him everywhere. With her diligence and patience, she's much more responsible than most other kids her age. But, umm... I can also tell that she's got a lot going on inside. ”
— Kaveh's About Collei voiceline.
“Cyno can come across as cold and ruthless, but he's actually a very big-hearted guy. I still remember how shocked I was when Tighnari said he was gonna introduce me to his best friend, and then a couple of seconds later, an incredibly intimidating matra comes walking through the door... I honestly never expected to meet a matra who's so comfortable hanging out with scholars. Gotta say though, I can't stand his sense of humor. It really makes my skin crawl. If he ever invites you to a meal at Tighnari's place, make sure someone's bringing beer, because no one should have to endure Cyno's humor while sober.”
— Kaveh's About Cyno voiceline.

Fanon[]

Kavenari is one of the most popular ships featuring the two characters. They're proudly referred to as a rarepair within their fanbase, considerably due to being overshadowed by both Cynonari and Kavetham respectively. They're typically shipped alongside Cytham, the ship between Cyno and Alhaitham. Their fictional relationship is a result of Love Interest Switcharoo, in the case fans endorse the idea of intercepting popular ships to become a new ship all together. A Parade of Providence became a popular highlight in the ship's popularity, as the duo share moments that can be interpreted as romantic subtext, mainly due to Tighnari's concern over Kaveh's wellbeing.

Shippers articulate scenarios discussing how Kaveh and Tighnari's ship will blossom without the Alhaitham's irritable influence on Kaveh's mental. This isn't done in malicious intent towards Kavetham shippers, however. Oftentimes they're seen as very compatible with little to no strains on their companionship, both platonically and romantically, which closely resembles their canonical interrelation.

Kavenari is on friendly terms with the Kavetham and Cynonari fandoms, as they tend to be mutual shippers themselves. On AO3, there are currently 240+ romantic works. A plethora of fan works, including fan art, is easily discoverable, especially on social media platforms such as Twitter/X.

Trivia[]

  • Tighnari introduced Kaveh's character in the Chinese 3.6 livestream, and he was both cheerful and sympathetic to his character and situation while presenting him.
  • While it's unclear whether Kaveh's father was close to Alhaitham's father and Cyrus, Cyno's adoptive father, Kaveh's mother says that he was good friends with Tighnari's father, which is reflected by them being in their own bubble in the group illustration, while Alhaitham's father and Cyrus kept to themselves. This means that Kaveh and Tighnari's friendship was carried down from the previous generation.
  • In the 3.6 Chinese livestream, Tighnari's chibi blushes[1] when he talks about Kaveh having to move to Alhaitham's house.
