KeiiZaku is the het ship between Keiichiro Akasaka and Zakuro Fujiwara in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom.

Canon

Tokyo Mew Mew (2002)

Keiichiro met Zakuro through the Mew Project. Keiichiro had long been assisting Ryō with the Mew Project, a mission to find five individuals compatible with DNA of endangered animals so that they can fight off aliens who were seeking to destroy humanity. Zakuro's DNA was found to be compatible with that of the grey wolf, and she was infused its DNA and became a mew mew. Zakuro was the fifth mew mew to be found, but she initially refused to join. Keiichiro and Ryō understood that they could not force her join, but that it was necessary, and the mews were eventually able to convince her to join. Zakuro was then brought to Cafe Mew Mew and was introduced to Keiichiro.

Zakuro later learned about Keiichiro's relationship with his ex-girlfriend Rei through her fellow Mew Mews. Lettuce had found him baking a cake that he did not plan on selling late and night, and Ichigo later learned more after accidentally meeting Rei. Zakuro and the other mew mews purposefully stayed late one evening to spy on him and then joined Ichigo in trying to convince Keiichiro to bring the cake to Rei. The group arrived to find that Pie and Tart had stolen her soul and fused it with a chimera animal, so the mews fought the chimera animal to save her soul while Keiichiro protected her body. After Rei was saved, Keiichiro and her parted on more amicable terms. The other four mew mews were sad that they did not get back together, but Zakuro and Ryō were both understanding.

Tokyo Mew Mew New

Keiichiro first saw Zakuro through a camera at the Red Data Animal Exhibit, a museum that served as an undercover base for the Mew Project. He and Ryō found that her DNA was compatible with that of the grey wolf and infused her with it, turning her into a mew mew. Keiichiro had Mint and Ichigo gather the other mew mews but Zakuro refused to join. Keiichiro and Ryō were understanding that they could not convince Zakuro to join but at the same time insisted it was necessary to the mews to keep trying to recruit her. They eventually succeeded and Zakuro was brought to Cafe Mew Mew, where she was introduced to Keiichiro.

When the alien's leader, Deep Blue, was awakened, all of the mew mews, including Zakuro, were knocked unconscious and brought back to Cafe Mew Mew, which was damaged in the attacks. Zakuro and the other mew mews were nursed back to health and were served tea by Keiichiro. After the final battle ended, Zakuro and Keiichiro both threw a farewell party for Masaya who was leaving to study abroad in England. Later, Zakuro returned to site where Cafe Mew Mew was and found that Keiichiro and Ryō had renovated and rebuilt it. Zakuro then decided that she wanted to continue to work at the newly named Cafe Mew Mew New with Keiichiro.

Fanon

KeiiZaku has a small amount of popularity in the Tokyo Mew Mew fandom. It is often shadowed by ZakuMint but is still one of the more popular pairings involving Keiichiro. The main reason for the lack of popularity may be the age difference, as Zakuro is 14-15 while Keiichiro is 21. However, in the English dub Mew Mew Power, Zakuro (Renēe) was aged up to being 17 while Keiichiro (Wesley) was aged down to 17, making them the same age. On AO3, there are six works for the pairing, while AO3 has five. KeiiZaku most commonly rivals the ZakuMint, ZakuPai, and KeiiRei pairings.
