After finding out that Uri Reiss was the true king of the walls, Kenny Ackerman tracked him down and attempted to kill him. Although Uri stopped him, Kenny did not give up, throwing his knife and pointing a gun at him.
Despite Uri's brother Rod Reiss claiming that Kenny had to die, Uri spared his life. Uri even stated that because Kenny was an Ackerman, he understood his hatred since his family was eliminated, and apologized to Kenny, ultimately making Kenny starting the respect him as a friend.
The two talked a lot with each other, and Uri told him about the Founding Titan and how he would need to pass it down to his brother's children since he had none of his own.
During Kenny's final moments, he reminisced over his past that mainly consisted of Uri, to the day they met and the Reiss's succession ritual where he died.
KenUri has a solid sized fan-following. Many have compared their close bond to Eren and Mikasa, Levi and Ewrin's bonds. In a fan translation inside a guidebook, Hajime Isayama, the writer of the series, even states that Kenny was drawn/attracted to Uri. Some fans also assumed that Kenny wanted the Founding Titan not only because he hated Rod, but also that he wanted Uri's memories and to see the world from his point of view.
