Kennixon is the slash relationship between United States Presidents John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Richard Milhous Nixon from the Historical fandom.

Canon

Richard Nixon was born in 1913, while John F. Kennedy was born in 1917, putting four years between them. Both men served in the United States Navy during World War II, in which they would be bunkmates. They would then both become members of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Kennedy was a member of the Democratic Party, while Nixon was a member of the Republicans. This put them on opposing political sides. In 1953, Nixon became Vice President of the United States under President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Kennedy and Nixon were political opponents during the 1960 United States Election, and appeared together in the first televised presidential debate. Nixon refused to wear makeup for the television cameras, and ultimately looked extremely old and unkempt in comparison to Kennedy. It is persistently rumoured that those who listened to the debate on the radio thought Nixon was the best, while those who watched the debate on television saw Kennedy as the best.

Kennedy would ultimately triumph in a rather narrow victory, becoming the 35th President of the United States. Nixon at several points expressed jealousy and disdain for Kennedy after the election, despite having being previously somewhat cordial. Nixon openly supported Kennedy during the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and the role of President was taken on by his Vice President, Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1968, after Johnson's second term, Nixon once again ran for the position of President. He eventually won, becoming the 37th President of the United States.

Fanon

Kennixon is a somewhat popular ship in online history spaces. It is one of the most popular ships in the "Prestwt" community with some seeing them as the ultimate political "doomed yaoi" couple. Nixon is usually headcanoned as being very closeted/ashamed to be gay, while Kennedy is usually headcanoned as being more confident in his sexuality and bisexual. A common plot trope is that Nixon and Kennedy had something between them while in the navy.
