Kevamie is the slash ship between Kevin and Jamie from the Steven Universe fandom.

Canon

Kevin and Jamie are both reoccurring characters in Steven Universe. They have never interacted onscreen. However, they are seen at the corn maze together in Issue 8 of the 2017 comics. They have very different personalities, since Kevin is a rude antagonist character and Jamie is more kindhearted. Despite this, both are similar in the sense that they're quite dramatic characters, albeit in different ways, with Jamie being a passionate theatre actor, and Kevin an arrogant attention-seeker. Jamie is also quite sensitive, not handling Garnet's rejection well. Similarly, Kevin is implied to having his heart broken in the past because he was too sensitive.

Fanon

Kevamie started being shipped in 2015 after the release of the episode "Love Letters." Fans pointed out that both characters got rejected by fusions (Kevin rejected by Stevonnie, and Jamie by Garnet). People started shipping the two, finding the pairing of a soft theatre nerd and a popular mean rich boy appealing. Despite being a crack ship for two minor characters, Kevamie grew to become a popular ship. Its popularity was also aided by how there are barely any slash ships in the fandom. In the mainstream fandom, however, Kevamie is regarded with confusion for being too unrealistic. Many thought Jamie would never tolerate someone like Kevin, especially since Kevin has hurt Steven, who Jamie is good friends with. After "Reunited" aired, Dewmie (Dewey x Jamie) also became a fairly popular slash ship in the fandom, rivaling Kevamie.

Usually, Kevamie works have Kevin soften his personality before he gets with Jamie. In such works, he grows a soft spot for Jamie and is motivated to become a better person for him. Kevin is also portrayed to be very flirtatious with him, especially in their first meetings. Many headcanon Kevin to fall first, a breaking of expectations since Jamie is more of a romantic between the two of them. Popular scenarios include Kevin watching Jamie's plays, and Steven being shocked that Jamie is dating Kevin.

Trivia

• In a scene of the movie where Alexandrite is saving Jamie, Kevin's smashed car can be seen, making this potentially the only time Kevin and Jamie have appeared together on-screen.
